Check for oil leaks .. Usually oil leaking and landing in the downpipe will burn and smell for days!..

Check the crank for play as stated , but it also sounds like the timing belt skipped a tooth , happened to me on the freeway . When you open It up get the timing belt to line up with the timing marks before removing the belt and you'll see if it skipped or not.

If it was an earlier galant I'd say yes , those 94-97 galants are more compatable with 2gs, unless its a rare galant gs with a 5speed manual and the junk yard and your at is a manual then you can make it work , but if. It's an auto it's a different story cause of the TCMs .

As far as boost goes , you can run up to 15lbs on that 14b aslong as you upgrade the fuel pump .

Yea, at least the Mitsubishi clutch kits and some nissans from "luk" are exedys.. I used to work at Pepboys.

I've used it and it's the same as the one at Pepboys just relabeled as "luk clutch".. Works good as a stock replacement.

I have the same issue on my 99 GsT,.. Kept throwing p0300 code and egr solenoid and I checked everything and was still the same then I swapped in a 97 ecu and ran the car for afew days then swapped back to the 99 and now it throws a TPS malfunction code only ..
