I have a set of Wiseco 20 over pistons in a box. 1 broke at the skirt, and the other 3 are cracked. This happen 3 years ago, standard pistons. I dont buy Wiseco for anything.
If you have a early 92 AWD 5 speed, check trans id numbers. You should have the HD 3/4 gear set. It is the best of the stock transmissions. rebuild it.
I have rebuilt 3 engines with Nippon Pistons. 2 are at 20 lbs. of boost daily driven. I will continue to use them in stock rebuilds. They are OEM pistons. Mizumoauto.com $80.00 for 1G pistons and rings.
Look on the bottom surface of the tensoner pulley assembly arm. Look for a small indentation from the arm bouncing on the hydralic tensioner pin. I had one get weak at 30,000 miles. The belt causes a whipping effect at 2500 RPMs. You can see the belt slack bounce between the cam gears as engine...
I have a Wiseco standard bore piston sitting on the garage shelf. It has the skirt broke out of it to the oil ring. Hair line cracks on both sides. EVO3 set at stock boost level 12 lbs. That was another rebuild I did not enjoy. But I did learn not to use them again.
Are the Evo2 3,4, single syncro gear sets, as strong as the EVO3 double syncro gear sets? I have seen that the ratios are the same, are the gears as strong? I want the EVO3 gearbox with single syncros in my 92 trans. I dont drag race, just like to have the close 1 to 4 ratio with a tall 5th gear.
Answer to your question. Identify my camshafts. In Comp Cam catalog page 60, 100-000-8E is exhaust cam. 100-000-8I is the intake cam. Just looked up 8737, that grind id# is for a 101-200 intake cam. The cat# is XE259HR. The cams are 272 spec. 411 lift on intake, and 395 lift on exhaust
Had a problem like yours last year on a set of Comp 200s. The slot on the back of the intake cam was indexed wrong. Had to remove them and send back to Comp Cams for a new set.
On my 92 TSI, I have removed air cond condensor and pump. Just push in air conditioner button on dash, fans come on. If yu still have air cond system, just unplug Compressor pump, and push button. I installed new Radiator, and put in sheet metal around FMIC to seal sides and bottom of radiator...
I ll post this for information only. My sons 91 TSI AWD was having a TOB issue. The TOB was failing between 5000 to 7500 miles. This last time we pulled engine and trans. Head needed new valve guides and seals. Sent trans to shop in Cumberland Md. Had it dismantled and everything checked out...
From the ECM Wiki: 2G timing in a 1G. Note that DSMLink timing adjustments are active all the time, not just at wide open throttle.
I use factory timing settings till 3500 rpm, then drop them lower as boost rises. This helps the fuel mileage stay up to 30 mpg.
I just did a timing belt job last week. All information is explained in the #3 post on the pictorial for installing timing belt. Camshaft dowel pins at 12 oclock, the timing marks are in the center. Outside marks will not line up through center with straight edge. Please take time and go through...
Thats the kit on my Talon. 10,000 miles on parts, and still golng. All Mitsubishi OEM factory parts. This is second set from Slowboy, I change belt kits every 50,000 miles. I use a 60 inch pound beam type torque wrench to set belt tension. Set gap at .156 with drill bit. Great timing belt...
Yu guys on Turners are great at pics and explaination of how to do things. There should be a sticky on priming the engine. I also do the drill on the oil pump method. Primes block and turbocharger. Keep up the good work. Ralph
I did not notice a loss of low end torque, with the Comp 200 camshafts. With DSM Link my timing is not changed until 4000 RPM. Then it drops a little to keep knock in check. Boost is 21 PSI.
I was given a 1996 Avenger with a 2.0 liter 4 cyl. Oil pump failed and engine is being rebuilt. Exhaust side of head is toward the radiator. Which Crane cam set, 180-0010 or 431-0010 are to be used in this engine? Does any other cam match the specs for Crane?
I found 431-0010 in the Mitsi...
Just browsing around and seen this post. Just got a modular clutch kit for a 98 Eclipse.
$ 219.00 free shipping. Here is the link [url]www.clutchcityonline.com
We just removed a SBR 3500 clutch disk this morning, out of a stock 91 Talon TSi. Clutch had 10,000 miles on it, clutch disk went into the trash barrel. This is another of the early Comp Clutch disasters. Spring falling out, and center hub had the spline teeth almost stripped out. Took the...
Mitsubishigraveyard.com I bought the 2G sensor and plug for $65.00 in june of 05. I have been told that a 2G sensor will flow enough air for a EVO 16. I have had no problems at all with my set up. Select 2G sensor, set air sliders to 0 across the board. and go tuning. You can view the operators...
You have to find the source of the metal shavings. A spun main bearing is bad news. A spun rod bearing is fixable. Replace crankshaft, or turn down crankshaft journals. Replace connecting rods. Going 20 over on the pistons will save wall thickness for another rebuild. There is a balance shaft...
I have a 1991 Talon TSI with similar problem. Found the front balance shaft bearing chewed up. Now the engine is coming out to rebuild the bottom end without balance shaft. Will balance the crank, rods, pistons, and flywheel. 146,000 miles on engine, its time for the rebuild.
I have one on my 92 TSI. Been on over a year now, no problems with it yet. I had to gasket match it to the head, took about 2 hours with die grinder. Had to grind it in a few spots, it has a thick flange on it. Slowboy ported the turbo side to 7cm, and supplied the turbo SS gasket. I have a Evo...
I would check with Tom, or Dave at ECU tuning before purchasing a DSM link. All support and upgrades come through them. They offer a fantastic product and will take care of any problems you have. You can not get on the user forums with out there permission. On the web site they posted a warning...
You can download the users guide from the DSM Link downloads page. All info about setup and tuning is in the guide. The eprom is burned to the specifications of the original owners requested default settings. I have the 1G link, and it works perfect.
It could be a bad thermostat. I replaced a 180 degree with a 160 degree stat. Set the coolant offset at 20 on the DSMlink, ECU thinks the 180 is still there. No problems with setup. thermostat is a failsafe style. Fails open.
I have a set of Cooper Zeon ZPT directional tread tires. Tire size is 225/50R16. These tires are great at handling, and the ride is not bad. Will put them on again when these wear out. UTQG is 380 AA
I installed a ACT 2600 in my 92 TSI and it would not release. I had to put in a longer slave rod, and bleed the the system of air. Used 1/2 a quart of fluid, before it came out clean and clear. That solved my problem, I now have plenty of adjustment in the clutch linkage. Getting ready to put a...
I have 207,862 miles on the car. I am 3rd owner, car was well maintained. Head replaced at 83,000 miles. Timing belt failed. Replaced all belts at 185,000 miles, car just keeps gettin up.
