I've always liked dsms for just they way they looked and I have always wanted one. I started doing research on them to see what they could do performance wise. I found this site to be a wealth of knowledge that showed me that these cars can make a lot of power with very little modification...
Hmm, i dont believe mine has one in the front just thinking off hand. anyone know if there are any in back for sure? I suppose i can tear it out and find out but i prefer the lazy err easy way of someone with experience telling me.
I just purchased a GPS that i would like to hardwire to my car. The unit itself has an audio out to connect to radio aux ports. I was curious if the stock head unit on 2g's had an aux port , or if anyone knew of a way to add one. Thanks,
Holy crap, I made this thread like 4 years ago why bring it back from the abyss? Anyways, they obviously were not denso's. I threatened to take the little shit to court and he gave me a refund saying he "accidentally" gave me the wrong ones. I ended up just getting some FIC injectors off ebay...
Actually i didn't use that, but i plan on renting one from autozone this weekend to give it a try. However, i honestly doubt it will work if i couldn't pound it out with heat and a sledge.I asked this before but didn't really get any response. Is it possible to just leave the outer axle...
So wait, its possible for me to just remove the axle from the outer axle case(the green case with the boot on it) without removing the whole axle assembly from the hub/knuckle?I think i'm a bit confused, could someone explain this in a little bit more detail as i'm not too familiar with...
I planned on replacing my wheel bearing anyways so at least that works out.You know in between furiously hitting my axle with a sledge and cursing aloud for the neighbor kids to hear, I pondered how all of this could have been avoided if this had been done in the first place. Then i...
Ok, so my axle is stuck in my hub. i have tried everything from pb blaster soaking over night, heat, sledge, and even a press. This thing is NOT coming off.I even broke down and took it to a mechanic who was also unable to get it off. My question now is what else am i going to have to...
Well i went out to my car today, unlocked it and pull on the hand to open the door the handle broke off. Anyone happen to know what thats gonna cost or how easy it would be to replace?
If the temp sensor for the cluster died then this is not your problem. The ecu doesn't take any readings from this. There is another water temp sensor that the ecu uses. If that went bad then you would know it because your car would not want to start.
11% throttle at idle? That doesn't sound right. I don't know if its different between 1g and 2g but I strive to keep my tps at 0%. Otherwise your idle switch is never going to kick on. I would play with your tps to get it to 0%. See if that helps. If that doesn't help then you may want...
The only thing that doesn't make sense about this is that if too much travel was the problem then disengaging the clutch would not be a problem. In fact it would more likely be the opposite where i could not get my clutch to engage. This is an XTD stage 2 clutch. They are not as popular as...
This sounds more like an engine issue to me. If your clutch is slipping than when accelerating, your rpms will increase but your speed will not due to the clutch disk not gripping the flywheel. When you say your car is hesitating it makes me think that maybe you are getting knock that is...
With numbers like that you do NOT want an insert. Go with either welded or a true LSD. Putting that much strain on the drivetrain with an insert could lead to explosive results...literally.
Yes, lol i did install it correctly. At first i thought maybe I hadn't and that the raised portion was supposed to go toward the flywheel and thats why it was making contact with the clutch fingers. But then i tried for the hell of it and if you actually try to put the disc on backwards it...
Like I said, when i put my tranny/clutch back on i hadn't gotten the flywheel machined. I couldn't get the clutch to disengage so i took it back off and took the flywheel to the machine shop because i had narrowed it down to either the flywheel or the clutch. They measured and it was already...
I don't take it often but thats why control is important. I control my launches so that wheelhop is not a problem. He could always crap out and get a true lsd and then we wouldn't even need to have this discussion. This is the way i see itWelded Diff = both wheels ALWAYS turning equally...
An lsd insert simply pushes on the spider gears making them harder to turn. With the added pressure applied to the differential it helps both tires grip when going straight but also allows the tire to slip when cornering.A welded differential however allows no slip and both tires are...
I just installed a new clutch and after finding out that i could not get it to disengage I started eliminating possiblities until I decided that it must be that i didn't get the flywheel turned, but now im not so sure. After removing the clutch from the flywheel it is apparent that the...
yes turned = machined. It just gets me because i was able to swap out my old one with a different pressure plate and it still worked fine but now that i put a new one in it won't go into gear for nothing.
I am unable to disengage the clutch and i have narrowed it down to either the flywheel or the clutch itself. Now the question i have is whether or not it is necessary to have the flywheel turned or not. I didn't and my clutch will not disengage even with the clutch fork bottoming out on the...
I have a 6bolt motor and a 2g tranny. My question is whether there is a difference or not in the 1g and 2g clutches? Are they interchangeable or not. Im wondering this because if they aren't then I want to make sure that i get the correct clutch. Thanks
yes thats what i said in my first post. However, it really isn't that bad in that i can' even feel it with my fingers. I just want to know if i can change the top main bearings without having to do anything other than drop the oil pan. If not then what do i need to do...
well i dropped my oil pan today just to take a look around to see if everything was alright(Been forever since something has gone wrong) and i noticed that there was some minor scoring on the main/rod bearings. It wasn't even enough for me to feel it with my fingers. For good measure...
I don't know if you or someone you know has a welder but i would just cut the exhaust somewhere in line and insert a little extra piping maybe an inch or so. You can buy steel exhaust couplers at autozone for like $2.
Even though this is a couple of months old i might as well update. All the valves got bent, some worse than others. So i went ahead and pulled the head and took it to a machine shop and got it rebuilt. Now its up and running again, knock on wood.
Yes its very common that people install the hoses on the wrong connectors. I would check this. If it's some cheapy boost controller with a crappy spring/ball that could cause the problem as well.I noticed that you have a 16g in your profile. I don't know if thats current or not but if its...
You need to be a little more descriptive of the problem. There are a lot of things that could cause your car to not hold idle. I would to a boost leak test just to be sure that there are no air leaks. you can build your own tester just look at www.vfaq.com
Well, first things first. Mare SURE there are no leaks by usings a boost leak test. When i thought i had no leaks i found that i was wrong. This will eliminate the possibillity of leaks anywhere, including your bov.Since your gonna have to take your intake off, you might as well check you...
The heads in the 93 N/T are the same as the 1g turbo heads. I believe the n/t 1g heads are slightly better than the 2g turbo heads as the 1g's are supposed to flow a little better. The only difference should be the intake cam. I have a 1g N/T head on my car and it runs great. I just swapped...
I had the exact same problem as you when i did my 6 bolt swap. You could check the stuff that larsenracing said but that doesn't sound like the problem. If it was a fuel filter, more than likely it would start, but then die after the filter got clogged up.When i did my swap, i had a very...
Without even rebuilding my engine yet, im running 22psi on an evoIII so i would say you are misinformed about throwing a rod. From what i've heard/read, the 1g big rods(which is what i have) can hold about 400hp or so. I don't know if you were talking about 2g rods or not.
When it starts to get a little warmer out i plan on rebuilding my bottom end. Due to all I've read and what my friend just went through with topline kits, i'll be going oem. I found that I can easily keep this under $1000 without having to replace the rods, but im a little unclear as to...
Would you please tell me what all you did to check for where the drain was coming from or how you found out that 200ma was being drained. I am having the same problem only not as bad. If it sits for two days it'll be completely dead. As long as i drive it everyday, im ok. I have a new...
As far as user accounts, go into control panel. There should be a user accounts icon. double click on that. You should see all of your accounts. Just delete the account(s) you don't want. It sounds to me like you have a hidden account, probably put there by the .net framework install...
I believe if you door ajar sensor is bad then the interior lights won't come on due to a bad/broken connection in the sensor. But for the lights to Stay ON due to a bad connection, i've never heard of that. I would of course start with getting a new sensor to see if that will take care of the...
No your wheels won't skip when your going around corners. The springs on the insert push on the spider gears to lock them in place when driving straight but when you go around corners the force just makes the spider gears turn despite the pressure exerted on them by the insert. I have the BM...
