How many of us use our DSMs as actual daily cars? Or how many own just a DSM?

I dailyed both my 1G and 2G for many years and dealt with all the fun that brings. The biggest thing I found over the years was making sure the maintenance stuff was up and not just worrying about more power.

Jake H's 1G Rear Wheel Drive Build

NICE RACK :pBut seriously, that looks nice. I've been thinking about how 'I could get some spare tires of the floor recently. Gonna have to fire up the welder.

    Moving to Tampa Area !

Now might not be the best time to move to Florida and be looking for work in the construction industry. Everybody is hurting down there, but if you have enough skill you should still be able to find something good. :thumb:

    1000cc too big?

Go big, from what I've seen link shouldn't have a problem with 1000's, but somebody who actually runs link could tell you for sure. Whatever you do don't go with just enough injector or you'll regret it later when you have to buy injectors again. :notgood:

how is this an intercooler kit for a 2g?

It doesn't says it's a FMIC kit so I would says it's a kit that replaces the stock rubber pipes with hard pipes but the pipe with the flange doesn't make sense. Send the seller a question and ask, that usually works. ROFL

    post pics of your pet(s)

Man, some cool animals in this thread. Here's Ina (10 yr old) black lab and my daughter Ayla (7 months). Ayla loves the dog but Ina is jealous that the little one gets so much attention.

    ABT Audi AS5 (2008)

If I take my head to get it rebuilt, general machine shop questions..

DO NOT take it to just any machine shop. Ask around who is a reputable machine shop. If one doesn't exist in your area you can always send it out to one of the big DSM vendors and get the work done. If you're not getting anything done that would be considered extreme a GOOD local shop should be...

side by side comparisson 99gsx wheels 3g wheels

Which is which? If I had to guess the GSX wheel is on the bottom, they're 17's were the 3G's are 16's, right?

    Dragstrip Laws

Don't worry, you'll be fine. Most tracks will give you a warning after the first time and if you go faster a second time they will kick you out. It's not a big deal or anything but if you are going faster than that I would suggest some kind of roll bar, I don't think you'll need a full cage...

    1G Ebay Radiator

So you got the fans from the same seller on ebay. They look a little different than the ones they sell now. Did the fans have a factory style connector on them or did you cut of the old ones and put them on the new fans? Looks pretty good and now they have the package for 179 plus shipping. :thumb:

Where to find these Fender Flares

That looks like one of the wide body kits i believe Quwhees (sp?) or something like that. Look on ebay I saw them on there. I don't think they will work unless you use their bumpers and personally I think the bumpers are hideous.

    Clutch time - ACT2600 w/street disc, SBR4000 or ACT 2100 w/sprung 6 puck disc

I have heard bad things about both the Fidanza and the ACT flywheels but everypart has someone talking bad about them. I drove a evo 8 with a fidanza and it did seem rediculously light. It would rev like crazy and made taking off a challenge but seemed you could get used to it easily. Next...

Rear brace removal on a 1G?

It would seem that if you're cage was braced to the shock towers and then cross braced that you could remove the oem brace. What are you're reasons for wanting to do this? (weight savings) I would personally leave it in even with a cage but that's just me.

    St. Patricks Day!!

    Body Kit fasteners

You can always go to SATAN but I know some of the supporting vendors to this site sell oem parts and might carry the little clips you need. Your best bet on something like that though will always be SATAN (the stealership).

    FYI - Body kits don't fit inside a 1g

Man you're crazy. How the weathers been lately I don't think I would have come back over Red Mountain Pass. Was it snowing up there because it hailed here in town? You should definently have fun trying to put that bumper on seeing as how it's for a 1Gb and I thought the top of the bumpers was...

    New 1G subframe bushings

hey guys, I need some advice!

KARKING should be a reputable vendor and I believe they are a site sponsor. I would shy away from the JDM motors. They are no better than ours unless it somes with the bigger injectors and a 16G. Your best bet would be to search the forums and read up on the subject. You can't usually go wrong...

2.4 block... can I use it.

The block can not be BACKWARDS, the head can have the intake/exhaust on other sides but not the block. You are supposed to use your tubo head and the 2.4L block so I would think you would be fine. I guess if the timing components are on the wrong side then it wouldn't work but that wouldn't seem...

    Chassis Brace

I imagine the "design" is real close. OBX is known for taking existing products and "reverse engineering" them in a cheap way. If the materials are of the same quality on a piece like this you can't go wrong. If it was something more mechanical or had lots of moving parts I would say stay away...
  28. GSTinCO

What you think of my custom manifold??

Are you making this into an all out drag car? It seems strange otherwise with the intake facing forward. Why not do a top mount design like a Shearer manifold? The manifold itself looks great though.

2G Door Handles Help! [Merged 11-7] broke broken eBay replacement repair handle outside

All 2G door handles are the same as well as sebring/avengers of the same years. The 1G door handles are different. While you are getting new door handles I would reccomend purchasing the kit to repair/strengthen the handles aswell. Have fun I know it can be a pain in the @ss. ROFL

    AutoCad question

As for making the flange work in Acad 2007 you need to change the objects into a mass group and then under the groups properties go in and change them out from additive (your overall flange) and subtractive (your runners and bolt holes).
  33. GSTinCO

    AutoCad question

I surelly wouldn't reccomend AutoCAD, I work with Architectural Desktop 2007 all day which includes autocad and you would have a hell of a time designing a tubular header. As far as mechanical modeling programs I have no idea but it seems some people do and I would like to know.
  34. GSTinCO

    AutoCad question

If you already extruded the object the edges should be there, you will just have to go under view and change shading to flat shaded so you can see the part properly. Hope that helps and you can figure it out. :thumb:

I make it into the 500whp club today...on pump

Well I can't open up the file to take a look but Congratulations :rocks: . What kind of device are you using for tuning, DSMlink, AEM? I bet traction is really hard to come by with 500whp and FWD. Do you have anything done suspension wise to plant all that power or just slicks? Anyways congrats...

    knocking sound from engine bay???

That is definently not the same sound I had when my thermostat went out. It has to be a moving part because it seem s to be rev dependent. I would check your oil level just to be sure and try to isolate where the sound is coming from the best you can. I wouldn't imagine it's the throw out...

It most likeky is your thermostat. Replace it with a genuine Mitsu part or you will have this problem again.

Are all the fenders on every model the same?

Yes the fenders are the same I bought some off a RS for my GSt and they are the same except if you have the factory body kit they might not have the holes/connectors for the body kit.

A question for you Rocky Mtn. DSMr's...

I had some of the same questions as you when I moved from Florida to Colorado in my GS-t but it's not all that bad. Some good snow tires and take it easy if it looks sketchy and you should be fine. I don't think there would be a better route because you will always have to go over a pass sooner...
