i am trying to build my motor so i can derive as much power as i can from high rpms. so for the top end of my motor, i will be running the HKS 272 Cams, intake and exhaust, HKS valve springs, HKS adjustable cam gears, and a Kevlar timing belt, along with a balance shaft emliminator kit. i will...
yea thanks man, i know this is for me and my buddy only. im not trying to impress anyone, i just really want this, and im really just looking for advice about swapping the awd rear end onto my car, along with the whole nissan motor into a mitsubishi, and customdriveshafts and stuff, but idk
i understand this, and by the end of the process, my eclipse will be turbo, im currently rebuilding a 6bolt, and i might be buying a tsi awd in the next couple weeks, for my daily/winter, then my eclipse for my summer ride.i decided to go with the SR20 swap because the motor is about the...
alright, well i know this thread will probably get me flamed on worse than elton john at a ### strip club, but i need some input from some fellow dsmers. there are a few swaps i have been considering, and my goal is to have a badass one-off summer ride, and a kick ass daily and winter ride...
so my buddy traded one of his blown nissan t-25 turbos, for a mazda turbo and a mitsubishi turbo. and he knows that im rebuilding my gs to be a gs-t, so he offered me the mitsubishi turbo. i asked him what kind of mitsu turbo it was, i asked if it was a TDO5H? he the guy told him it was off of a...
hey i just bought a 3'' turbo back Thermal R&D exhaust from this guy on here for $250, and i had a question. the "Axleback" portion looks to be 2 1/2", its not the same as the 3". the straight parts, roughly 12" long, are about 2 1/2" in diameter, and a smidge less in the bends. is this normal...

well from the pic it looks like you missed a bolt holding the aircan down, right next to the intercooler pipe. if that is what i believe it is. yea you can run open filter. mine hasnt given me any problems, ju a nicer growl, lol.also, BECAREFUL when taking that last hose off. when i took...
so heres is my question, short and sweet.....wuts the difference between 1g crushed and uncrushed bov's? im not sure if this qualifies as a newbee question, but its something i have always wondered. thanks
so i was looking online, but i came across a dual port bov. now im a HUGE fan of the open atmospheric sound, but i dont want to lose performance by running rich during shifting periods.so i came across a bov that is dual port. it allows you to have the sound without dropping the...
nickmorth11, as far as upgrading, i was gonna upgrade the turbo when i drop thmotor into my good car.i was thinking of doing the EVOIII 16G turbo, plus a fmic (havent decided on a specific one yet) and an hks ssq bov.yea i know it sucks, but i was gonna do a full rebuild, replace all...
i bought a 1990 mit eclipse gst. i have began tearing the motor apart and i have come across a few unsettling facts.i got a bunch of oil in the intake, no doubt blow-by, possibly blown rings. the intercooler corroded and when i took the upper intercooler hose off, the "exit" for the...
ok, so i have already blown two motors, one 7 bolt, and one 6 bolt, and both were due to the balance shaft. in the 7 bolt, i put the balance shaft 1/2" into the block. and its still unsure to the extent of the damage to the 6 bolt.so i saw that there are balance shaft eliminator kits...
yea that was my plan.otherwise i might just ghetto-rig a silicone hose from the spray can to a hole i would drill into the intake, and strat it from inside the cabin, lol, haha. hey its better than always popping the hood to start it,lolthanks
so this weekend i plan on buying a parts car for $300. the only thing is that this guy said the car doesnt fire on its own, you need starting fluid to spray into the into.however, after you spray that and it starts, it runs fine from there on. he said he thinks it may have to do with low...
anyone know when i can get a CLUE? im looking for one near south east wisconsin. for a good price. it would be better with a tranny, seeing as how mine is f*cked. lol. thanks for any and all help.shane :dsm:
well i would say, if you know which injector it is, then does it happen alot or does it just not fire? if you know which one it is, then try switching it to a different cylinder. this way if it happens again, you will know whether it is a bad injector, or if it is something right on that one...
or just grab a piece of rubber hose, like a 1/4" thick and put one end in your ear and do the same thing as with that dowel. thats how i found a clicking comming from my IAC motor
fine, ok we accomplished the fact that it wont fit. i went and looked at it yesterday, and YES it is the twin turbo motor, he did just remove the turbos.the supercharged motor he dropped in is a nonturbo V6 3000gt motor, that he has built up and he put a roots type supercharger on it. i...
not really the replies i was going for, but ok i guess...i already know i need to relocate my battery, and probably my liquid resivours, and cut some of my wheel wheels to help it fit in. i know it will be a tight squeeze, but im lookin to turn some heads here. is there any help to be had...
ok so heres the deal, i was going to build my eclipse n/a fwd nonturbo, but suddenly there is a new contender in the ring. a guy at my work has a 3000gt, and he swapped out the VR4 twin turbo motor for a supercharged motor.he offered the motor to me for $800, he said to anyone else it was...
so im trying to decide to rebuild my n/a for a powerful n/a, or pick up a blown gst and rebuild that. now im thinkin about staying n/a and running individual throttle bodies. what do yall think about this mod? has anyone done it before? can use alot of help here.
^^^ummm, did you read my first post? its a turbo rebuild.im still not fully answered. i was told that a n/a engine gets more power from higher compression pistons, and turbo cars get more power from lower compression pistons. and since the 2g pistons have a higher compression than the...
hey guys, there are only a few things i am aware of that can do this.1)blown head gasket2)bad thermostat3)WARPED HEAD-very common, have your head milled and put a new head gasket on. that should solve the problem
well i was told that the 2g pistons have a higher compression so they would be better for a n/a application. however, isnt it better for the turbo engines to higher lower comprssion pistons rather than high? so would be staying with the 1g be a better idea?
ok, so i got a 1993 eclipse 4g63 fwd 5speed, im looking to do some suspension upgrades, but i still havent decided on which setup to go with. im planning on building my car for street use as well as weekend track use at a local road course. my buddy told me, for cost effective reasons, go with...
now im not new to dsms at all, but i have seen multiple different people run 2g internals in a 1g block. i am picking up a parts car, and im going to rebuild the engine, but i am trying to decide pistons and rods, thinking about wiseco pistions with oliver rods, but for cost effective results...
i have a 1993 mitsubishi eclipse gs 2.0L DOHC fwd 5speed, and im looking to pick up a 1990 eclipse gst with a bad motor, he thinks there is a hole in a cylinder wall, for $400 in about 2 weeks or so, and i plan on doing a full engine rebuild this winter to drop the turbo into my car. but before...
:nono: obviously YOU dont understand wut we are talking about here. :nono: the fans typically dont do any cooling when ## driving 30mph+, so if the fans are enough to keep the engine cool while sitting in traffic with hot exhaust pumping on the fmic and the radiator, then the fact that 60mph+...
ok so, i got a 1993 mitsubishi eclipse, with a 6 bolt 91 eclipse engine. i have had a quiet ticking noise for a long while, but i have been waiting to get my new head finished so i can put that on.so recently the quiet tick has gotten really loud, i mean to the point that my radio cannot get...
the radiator not getting enough air has nothin to do with it. if it can sit in traffic with hot exhaust pumping on it, then driving at 60mph with an ass load of air flowing into it, the radiator ad fmic shouldnt have anything to do with it.
if your not getting fuel or spark at the same time, then it is a problem with your ignition system, it could be the ecu, but i believe that there is a relay for this system, that controld fuel and spark, i would check that before replaciong the ecu
try blowing compressed air into te cylinders, and watch for bubbles in the coolant resivour. sometimes this test will show a leak that a bad h/g or warped head is present, when a compression test wont.shane :dsm:
when you get the system charged, im guessing from a wall charger, will it start and run? or will it not even do that? you see, when you charge a battery from a wall charger and it starts, it will hold a charge for not very long, but it wears off leaving it running on the charge that it is...
exactly, the fmic is blocking air tothe radiator. actually, putting a second fan back on my not hurt. also, this exact problem is why some ppl try the v-mount set up. you have to custom weld the fmic, above the radiator, sort of above the headers. do this on a fwd or awd car, and u need a heat...
chances are that the wire you used for the power wire to light up the timer, shorted out the dash light circuit to ground. find the wire, fix the problem.
^^^ good info :thumb: . yea try blowing compressed air into the cylinders, and watch for bubbles in the coolant resivour. fyi: the resivour has to be filled.
