I tried searching for "1995 ECU OBD2" and got nothing. I'm just adding those key words to this post since it answered my question. Some other 1995 Mitsubishi cars were not OBD2 compliant even though they had the connector under the dash. Interesting that the DSMs were built in the US and...
You can also use my pictures for a second resource.http://www.mirage-performance.com/EclipseGSX/Transmission/translabtl175.htmlThis is a normal amount of metal on the magnets. As stated, large peices of metal are a cause for concern.Don't use any RTV because you will probably...
This should help confuse you. It depends on engine RPM, vehicle speed, and other variables. Here is a post with some rough percentages (although I would say they are 3% high across the board.) This will give you a ballpark number...
That is exactly right. The main reason the water lines are there is because the average person will not sit in their car for a couple minutes to let the turbo cool down. You should let the car idle to cool down even if you still have the water lines connected. So, what is the difference...
Under 400hp or so, just go with OEM fluid. John from IPT said to stay away from Trickshift. I'd listen to him.Over 400hp, I'd only use synthetic with a bottle of Lubegard Black like IPT recommends. The OEM transmission fluid doesn't lubricate well at higher power levels. The load on the...
Along the same line, will the EVO8 sodium filled valves work in a 1/2G head? Your "4G63" comment makes it sound like a yes. I have not heard anyone say they are using them though. Is anything else interchangable and beneficial?I guess this answers my question...
I wouldn't recommend using hardware store bolts. But I think you are stuck buying a spare valve body from the junk yard. I'm pretty sure those bolts are not individually available.I got a few from a friend that had a spare valve body. Maybe you will get lucky and find some at a local...
Hey, please post how they work and which ones you pick up. I have been considering LEDs and just worry that they will not look right because of how directional LEDs can be.I'm sure I am not the only one interested. Thanks!
If it is the kind that I bought, they are super cheap because they don't fit. You have to modify them before it works. Just an FYI.There are pictures of it if you scroll down on this page.

You don't need to gasket match the two. But it would be a good idea if you have the tools. It would be even better if you could fully port the O2 housing.Compared to running an 3" O2 housing with stock exhaust, your setup is great. That is what the other guys were trying to expain. You...
Yeah, the picture was completely different than what he is selling. The downpipe ended up being correct.Once I got the car up on a lift today, it made more sense that grinding the O2 bolt slots larger would help it fit. That made all the difference. That allowed it to clear the transfer...
Everyone else seems to be having issues with the O2 bolts and the cat-back connection. Has anyone had trouble with one clearing the transfer case or am I just lucky? Also, my O2 housing is off of my brothers 1995 GST. We noticed that it is slightly larger than my stock 1998 O2 housing...
Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but this seems pertinent. I just ordered this ebay DP two weeks ago. It was posted somewhere as being a Megan Racing DP an that the picture is an older style than what you get...
They covered it perfectly. Here is a write-up from John at IPT fully explaining torque converters and high-stall torque converters.Torque Converters Explained
Safe downshifting should be more of a function of what RPMs you will be at if it downshifted. It could vary slightly depending on the gear ratios. Just run it up 6 or 7k, shift and see what RPM you are at in the next gear. Plus I'm almost positive the TCU will not allow you you downshift...
Yeah, I noticed that. But Defiant helps hundreds of people out every week. I'm sure he just missed the S2000 antenna part.I'm in the same boat. My power antenna got bent and I REALLY do not want to replace the antenna mast with another stock one just to accidentally bend it again later...
I second that.I fixed a few boost leaks over the last month. Went from leaving the line with 1-4psi of boost and bogging to leaving with 12-14psi. I was pulling 2.3 60ft times. Need to go and see how much of a difference it made in the 1/4!Check for boost leaks and then datalog that...
You definitely dug up an old post there. Yes a 4G63 can be swapped into a 1989-1992.4G61t has all of your answers.http://www.4g61t.org/phpBB2/More specific to your question:http://www.4g61t.org/phpBB2/index.php?f=23&sid=0c794614a44eca3328036db528184ffd
I'm looking to do a custom 3" exhaust pretty soon and was planning to get a relatively long resonator. Can you please explain what is "too long" and a reason why longer is bad other than the generic "it is more of a restriction"?Thanks.
One of the applications for that engine:1992 - 1998 Hyundai Sonata 2.0 DOHC-16V (Engine: G4CP)They should all be 6-bolts. Not sure why the parts don't fit though.
I just used regular o-rings when I did mine. Take the whole throttle body into the hardware store and get a couple different sizes. I actually ended up double o-ringing mine with a larger o-ring on the inside that fit real tight and a thinner o-ring that barely fit beside the first one. That...
Read this post in the Automatic Transmission forum http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=189110It will give you a good idea of what 1/4 mile times people are running with different combinations of mods. Then you can decide if it is worth the money to get there.
One quick question before you go replacing the headgasket. 5-speed or automatic transmission? You don't have it listed in your vehicle profile. If you have a 5-speed, ignore me. If you have an automatic trans, verify that it is engine oil in the coolant. Some cars have external trans...
Oh ok. Since you have a 1995, I figured it was just a typo. You can't program with the datalogger. It is just for datalogging. That is where the SAFC, DSMLink, etc. come into the picture. They are for tuning. The only hitch is that DSMLink can be used for datalogging too. So it does both...
You could always just get rid of it like I did. Otherwise the pictures may help you figure out what needs to be tightened/replaced.http://www.mirage-performance.com/EclipseGSX/3rdbrakelight/index.html
I trust you on the weights, but wanted to add that my old Red Top Optima weighed 24#. Top post only type. I believe it was either a 650CA or 800CA. Used it for 5 years until I totalled the car. Not bad for Arizona. Average batteries last 2-3 years here.99gst_racer, do they still make...
Here is another option for you. Pick up a 16G new for around $600.Then delete the cooling lines. This really simplifies this upgrade. PLUS the stock cooling lines dump the hot coolant back into the cooling system right before the cylinder head. Thus heating up the head when you really...
Thanks Taylor. A local SW DSM member too!I read that thread earlier. But I'm still interested in how engine load is calculated. I want to get as much info as possible. Most likely my problem is retarded timing. Which is one of the symptoms I'm still troubleshooting. But it is on a 2G...
On my 2G with a Pocketlogger I am logging 18-20% load at idle. The car is basically stock. Does this mean anything and if so, how is the engine load calculated? I tried a search and came up with nothing. Thanks!
Since your profile says "Super 70 compressor hybrid 20g" I'm going to guess you are not building any boost yet at 2,000 RPM.Did you do any porting since the last time the car ran? What did you change? Or are you dumping tons of new parts into a previously non-running car? This is kind of...
Are you revving it in Drive with the brakes on OR trying to drive down the road and only getting up to 2,000RPM? What does it do at 2,000RPM? Buck and sputter or just hang out there? Do you have a datalogger?First two things that come to mind are ignition and fuel. Check the spark plug...
My timing marks were perfect. I did a combustion chamber cleaning today and it made a huge difference. I would highly recommend trying this to clean out the carbon buildup on your pistons and valves.I also suspect that 15psi on the stock exhaust causes too much back pressure on the exhaust...
That sounds very similar to what my 1998 is doing. Do a boost leak test just to make sure everything is cool there. Then pick up a datalogger/pocketlogger.My Car:
As my car starts building boost, you hear the turbo spooling up and sometimes it just takes off (usually when the motor is...
No. It just requires a hammer to hit it with. This tool transfers the power of an impact into a turning motion on the screw driver end. The impact also helps to loosen the screw too.Sounds like you have a good source to pick up replacement screws too. You should be all set now.
Do yourself a favor and pick up one of these. I have dis-assembled four throttle bodies with one and none of the screws got messed up. Prior to purchasing the impact screwdriver, I was trying a normal screw driver and almost ended up in the same situation you are in. You will be amazed how...
Try a Mirage, Galant, or most Hyundai throttle bodies should use the same screws. Or tap the threads to a larger size that you can source locally. Just make sure to secure them in there tight so they don't fall loose.
I could be wrong, but isn't this the reason this kit exists?IPT / Kiggly 6 Bolt Engine to 2G Adapter Kithttp://www.importperformancetrans.com/mitsubishiauto.shtml#main
I have a 1998 GSX and. I am planning to pickup a spare torque converter to have restalled to reduce downtime. Does anyone know if all 2G torque converters are the same? Or at least all 2G FWD are the same and all 2G AWD are the same? If not, what years do I need to look for? Thanks!
Another option is to DOHC and turbo the 2.4
http://home.comcast.net/%7Echadnmichelle/spydermods.htmlEither way, the guys on the 4G64 Yahoo group have been real helpful. I'm sure they can provide more input on the 1G in your Spyder question
