I have a (supposedly) 94 JDM engine in my 1990 GSX and am having a helluva time matching my gasket for my oil pump and had a fun time seting the timing (reason: the 93-94 JDM engines have different timing marks than US SPEC) anyways the year of the engine suggests to me that this is a 7 bolt...
I don't drive it much when the engine is cold, just sometimes when I don't have time to wait, even then I am really cautious. I just figured that such a lack in performance was uncommon. I don't have the idle surge problem however when The engine is cold it idles around 14K rpms no matter what.
I did a search and couldn't come up with anything.
Many times when I start my car I hear a POOF come out of the exhaust. And when I drive when the engine is still relatively cold, It is so hard to drive, its like it doesn't want to go at all. Also when I rev then engine it feals like it doesn't...
I noticed this after a pretty hard launch the other night. When I'm in gear and driving and the clutch is all the way out, around 2100 rpms when I let of the throttle i hear this and when I get back on the the throttle a little I hear a whistle noise from under the car. I know my TO bearing has...
When I was ahving my problem, the light on the wing did work. I don't know where you can find a new switch if you need one. maybe san rafael or conicelli mitsu.
DCSKATER,This may sound weird but, I had brake light issues about a month again, and it turned out that vibration had worn down the contacts on the actual bulb itself. nothing was wrong with wiring and the bulb was still good and worked other than the fact that the contacts wouldn't actually...
I think in this case one can only hope its the temp changes. I hope i can limp this out a couple more weeks till I get some money, then Im going to do all the timing components, Its due soon anyways. I probly can't afford labor so me and some friends will probly take it on. Ive got vfaq and...
When you were having your tensioner issue, did you get knock from that? I have to get in touch with mt friend with the logger for my o2 voltage I'll post that asap. but i remember him saying that they were good. Thanks a lot for your advise
my engine doesn't drop straight down after I let off, it falls quick but not like a rock like you seem too expect, plus what do you want it too fall so fast for? That just means in between shift while drag racing your turbo will take that much longer too spool than if the rpms didn't fall so much.
I had thos prob , I have a 1g not sure if its tghe same but there are drain hoses to the left and right of the trunk hatch and one of the hoses had come out and was letting water leave in through the hole. you have to pull out your panels to see it though, just something to check for
To be totally honest mine has been doing that for about 6 months, its probly not good, but I haven't really had time to do anything about it between work and school, I need the money I make for other bills right now too so that sucks but it will be fixed within about a month as I'm almost done...
Well I have a 5-speed AWD and I get around 290-300 a tank with a mix of city and highway driving, I drive about half an hour on the interstate 3 days a week for school and the rest dueing the week is city driving. Thats if i drive concervatively, but if I drive hard I get around 250, give or...
how much $$$ do you have? if you've got a few hundred waiting to be spent get a logger, it will be one of the best investments you can make for your dsm if you don't want it then just take it to a shop and let them figure it out but this could end up being very expensive, i try not to take my...
I would check all your hoses to your b.c., a friend of mine with a stealth r/t was haveing a boost control issue it turned out to be one of the lines got a hole in it. if those are fine then you probly need to either port your o2 housing or get the 34mm flapper mod to your internal wastegate...
A tune up wouldn't hurt, but a pocket logger would prove to be indespensable in the future, so I highly recommend getting one, I use my friend's but am getting my own soon. You can see whats going on and it will make diagnosing a problem so much easier.
The fluid it dot 3 and I believe you can blead it at the slave cylinder, thats where I do mine. I have a 1g but i don't see why it would be too different from a 2g. air bubbles in the line will make it soft b/c it will interrupts the hydrolic pressure in the clutch line. I don't know how to...
So if i sit still and rev my engine and I get this "phantom knock" around the same rpm point is it likely to be the motor mounts? and if so who makes solid polyuerethane ones for 1Gs?
Ok here are my results from a few hard pulls and a few normal. I found that around 2000 to 2400 rpms there are (are you ready for this?) 43 counts of knock HOLY $hit and my timing was pulled 17 on a normal drive but in higher rpms there was almost non. On the hard pulls I had ZERO_knock at WOT...
Ok well its not fuel that was doing it b/c It started doing it worse again today, I'm logging my car tomorrow evenning, I'll post my results. It also seems to happen way worse when the engine is cold almost to the point where its undrivable. Is that normal for our cars?
First of all sorry for highjacking the thread Isoto, but I figured it was ok since your description was right on the money with mine.
Amyways, I drove to work and home today a total of a bout 20 miles and It is not hesitating as much as before there is a little hint of it and sometimes I'll get...
thanks for all the advice, I think it may have have been fuel related b/c I filled up at citgo today instead of sunoco (93 octane) and it happened a little less in the afternoon and evening and It was almost unapparent on my way home tonight, I'm still going to seriously look into getting a...
