Yup, I'm confused. The oil in the valve cover (I believe you mean outside the valve cover, probably in the spark plug wells) is normally from the valve cover gasket (the round rings that go around the spark plug wells). Or possibly a crack in the valve cover.Am I understanding this correct...
Something sounds fishy. Generally you should have a larger gap in the upper and lower control rings. Though the expander ring normally can seem to be too big, I'd be suspicious because of the "no gap" oil rings.I haven't used NPR for these engines so my suggestion would be to fall back to the...
Sweet consistent times!Switch the fuels. That opinion is gleaned from some very fast Honda and Nissan guys I know. Both a couple of high end tuners (hint Phil, one of them begins with the letter M ;) ). That is not to denigrate the W/A (I believe in that too), but the fuel switch is much...
I ALREADY TOLD YOU WHAT DO!! :nono:Haha, j/k, after all the conversations, I don't think we ever came up with an actual plan of attack. The reason you don't see that much on the 2G is because if the 2G guys got into the mix, it would be no contest. They would just WALK away with it :p...
Modern (I used to use RRE a lot, but I think thye may have gotten out of 420a. You might check for Neon parts on there). But for what you are asking for, honestly, check E-bay (yeah, I said that ;)) You cna find set-ups of JE pistons and Eagle rods on there relatively inexpensive. Just be...
Not trying to be a dork or argumentative, but you have an inline 4 cylinder. Unless you plan on doing some real fancy math and study, why go duals? For the looks?
I would recommend using a crankscraper. You will gain from it. Keep in mind the higher rpm you go, the more friction you have out of the oil splash. As for an LTH, you are absolutley correct. Imo, its needed. And you are also correct that nobody makes them. I still have Peachy's and I had a...
14.2 NA would put you in second on the list beating Billy who ran a 14.6 (and then the car quickly disappeared). So congrats man! Super on the stock bottom end. Best I have done is 14.8's on stock bottom end, but I never gave it much of a nevermind.
No no, you can't do that. You asked for help and guys gave you their time and input then you just say "solved'? OMGEven if you screwed something up at least give a conclusion for those that tried to help and those that will alter search.I mean someone may do the same thing you did.......
Justin's correct. Best way to establish knock/phantom knock is reading the plugs. What's cool nowadays, is that there is plenty of info out there on the internutz to direct you."Back in the day" they used to use egt's to tune off of. I believe that afr's and dyno are all you need BUT you can...
Awesome! Cool pics bro!!:D Haha you know I couldn't resist ;)Just to let you know I'm still alive. I know, gotta get over there (life intervenes). Jealous as hell that you are driving......and I'm not! Sweet seeing the progress.
Start here ^^ and then think about rolling resistances (tire contact patch, alignments, wheel bearings etc.). Do the simple stuff before you start thinking about water injection systems and super atomization systems etc.You can certainly use MS to gain some mileage as well. You can...
MAYBE a little of "not what you're talking about" but if we're looking for 2G race applications (of which this thread is in), its simple enough to buy your own Lexan (I get mine for right around $100 a 4X8 of 3/16th. That's good for 2 windows) and cut and install yourself. The bends can be made...
Lol, Dale. I did the same thing with 420a rods one time. Its surprising the variances on one set of stock rods (we did up to 10 grams on a set). Keeping in mind that their expectations are that the engine will last 150 to 200k.And yet, as we do a "build", our tolerances are within the .5...
The q32 and 1.5 launch definitely made me wonder. Quite the douche move. I had yucky shit happen that weekend so I couldn't even go the SO. That alone pissed me off and then I see this posted. Let's see what we can do.MB
Cesar is out of Florida and he is the one that tied Hahn's record and has a shop http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drag-strip/385268-customrsturbo-2g-420a-10-87-135-a.html.Rob is Zero and he's the one who's going to get some seat time and get into the 9's, :thumb:.And Zero, I wouldn't...
Dude! You're out!Ok, next time just ship the car to me so I can keep her going, lol.For an update, Cesar did TIE Hahn's record. He then threw a rod and started to part her out. He then decide to start his own business and he said he was going to get her back on the track (parted some...
Lol, @ you guys bench racing ;).1.3x Launch? I don't care what it nets you, that would be awesome on such "little" power. As for runs and changes, Kev's got a point in that the early runs after a change are usually your best..... for people who know their set-up well and are very...
####in' A man! Congrats! Been a bit of a road for you Shane, but you're there now. 1.42 is suh-weet. I know you are going to post later, but please tell me you backed it up with a reasonably close number?Sweetness
I would feel confident in getting one of these. Ed (well his crew) get them in and go through them to fix/machine if necessary, all the poor quality parts.
What extra wires? If you are going from 97 to 97 the wiring should be the same. Oh wait, are you talking about RS to GS? Yeah, that wiring will have no effect on the engine wiring.
Well, I have no background/information of the MSD 6AL. But, yes it is basically a two coil set-up with one coil firing 1 and 3 and the other coil firing 2 and 4.But do I understand correctly that you want to put wasted spark on a wasted spark system? Or are you trying to somehow do...
Yeah, change your maf. Maybe put a 1g on there instead ;)Lol, I think you did the right thing in trying a known good map. I wonder if that code has something to do with what Dave does with the ECU. I believe p0107 (or 8) is our map code.As Jayson was saying, suspect the wiring...
Agreed! Quick math puts you at roughly 33% increase in power! On just MS :thumb: (provided the reason for the funny numbers is not exponential).Like we've been saying, gotta love that MS.
Its just a noise suppressor for radio interference. No big deal if you don't have one. BUT I have seen that mounted in a few locations. So check your valve cover (driverside) to see if its mounted on that.
Yeah, there are actually settings that they could put in differently or just original settings could be bad.I don't think there was any intent on your part to try and deceive the guys, but I'm believing they (the dyno guys) may have a calibration situation. So even posting up the dyno...
One was gsx brakes and one was aftermarkets (I believe Wilwoods). Both said they loved the feel of the brakes. Another good buddy in state here did an awd swap onto his Spyder and went from Wilwoods BACK to gsx. He loves it.
Without getting too in-depth its kinda tough to explain all that you want to know about cam degreeing and the relationship of your particular cams with your particular needs. AND each specific set-up reacts differently than the other.I did a little google for as simple an explanation (with...
All our 2G non turbo axles are interchangeable. The only difference is the ABS (which won't matter).Like Jayson said, I about guarantee the parts guy is looking at turbo vs non turbo.
(I've been off the site for a little bit ):Excellent news!Great that the seat time is not going to waste. One nice thing about a slow track is that you have to concentrate more on what you are doing to squeeze times out. Helps to keep you focused.Imo, good progress.
If you are going MS, put in something around 880's. The MS will be able to adjust the injectors and you will have nice reasonable duty cycle numbers. If you go 550's, you will be running much higher duty cycle numbers and they will leave you no room for growth.
Heh heh, you gotta take pics of this. I have no idea what you are doing. At first I thought you were putting a GS engine into a RS (and you were confused). But that's a simple task (and you say it was difficult). So I gotta know what you are doing :p
Op, there is still plenty of info on here. Just stick with the 420a section.Good that you are rebuilding another engine while you still drive your car. Imo, its the best way to go. As for rebuild info, you can check out this; 2GNT.com - A_Proper_Rebuild for an idea of what it will take. If...
Jayson, you must have known you were going to get some of the responses you got, lol. No need to get defensive. Its actually not about what they think as much as what you think. I hear crap and it doesn't mean a damn thing to me. My interests lie in what I have done (as you know, I've done some...
