I fought an overheat for a long time. When I would stop after running it, you could hear water boiling in radiator. I jumped both fans together so they both always turned on - no help. Turned out it was nothing more than a bad radiator cap.
use OEM for a belt
The only way to tell if you have ARP is to pull valve cover. If the head bolts have a hex head in the middle and looks like nuts on a stud they are most likely ARP. Stock are bolts.
Short block - no head - no bolt on's oil pan maybe.long block usually consists of head, block and oil pan. Valve cover sometimes included sometime not - ask the seller. Manifolds, intake and exhaust, alternators, Ps anything that bolts on not included.
If you are looking on Ebay they...
any part numbers on the housing? If so get a picture of them and post.16g serial numbers49178-01420: Big 16G
49178-01520: Small 16G
49178-01470: EVO III 16G
Depends on the state and how picky your shop is if it will pass or not.

As far as sniffer test, run your tank down low, throw a couple gallons of e85 in and let them test it. Stay off the boost until you can get some...
First question did you get a coil bracket with the manifold or do you have to fab one up?The MDP will throw a code if not plugged in, someone chime in, but I think with Link you can disable it.
Since I do not have link, I fabbed up a bracket and mounted a nipple on the MDP then just...
yes it works. I had more problems overheating with the FMIC driving around with no AC. But when you turn on the AC it drives both fans so no problem when running AC. I solved my problem by jumping my fans so as soon as one turned on they both turned on.As someone else said you may need...
Strictly looking for opinions.See profile for details. 1997 AWD Spyder rust free Florida car 6 bolt 2.3 stroker 20g cams and supporting mods. The engine burns oil so will be removed and rebuilt. I Also have a good stock 7 bolt.If I were to sell this what should I ask with stock 7...
You can convert that engine to dual overhead cams and turbo. Basically if you already have a 2g AWD TSI car you can get a 2.4 AWD stroker out of this spyder. The head, needs to be swapped, there are a ton of threads on here about that, then injectors and turbo should bolt right up. Don't go...
"6 bolt with 7 bolt head and mani," - cool no problems there"with 6 bolt TB" - cool as long as the manifold is port matched to fit the larger opening."So the stock elbow off the normal throttle body should bolt right up" - Are you saying you want to take the choked down 7 bolt...
With that 95 you have an eprom ECU already in the car. This gives you a ton of options.
a.) burn another chip
b.) ECMLINK which is a full blown tuning program, basically you write the new tune to that Eprom.
c.) Moates Ostrich - a chip burner that you can change the tune on the fly -...
I will admit I am not an expert on how much to port the OFH.
But this link is what I always thought was about right and the way I did mine.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/426759-need-help-asap-porting-pics-ofh-posted-feedback.html
My ole 14g did the same thing - 14g exhaust housing are made of cheap metal and crack around the waste gate hole.
Easiest thing to try - put a couple of washers under the waste gate actuator to pull it tighter. It just might help seal that exhaust leak......
Start by figuring out what mods your car has right now and enter into your profile. You need an installation kit that includes oil line.
if you have a t25 you need a J pipe to connect the 16g to the inter cooler pipe.Start with Maintenance - see the upgrade path
If you staill have the...
Like anything you do to a car, it all depends on what your goals are.
If you have a 400 hp street car, a twin disk is not only overkill, it is loud.
If you have a 600+ hp track car, a twin disk is the way to go.
Anything in between and you have to decide if you can live with the noise...
I removed my QM and sold it here because of the noise. Worked great but took some getting used to - I just could not stand the noise. I always thought my engine was about to fall out - down shifting was the worst!
My car had a couple of pretty severe dents in the urethane bumpers.
HEAT get a heat gun like you use to strip paint, it is a LOT hotter than a hair dryer so you need to be careful. Put some blocking on the inside of the dent and heat the outside.
You may have to pull the bumper off to get...
They sell thread sealer at automotive stores. It comes in a tiny tube and is formulated for auto use. It is a paste that seals the threads. You can also try teflon tape or plumbers pipe dope from Home Depot. One may work better than the other for you.
Check out STM for oil filter housing gaskets cheaper and better than OEM.IF someone used the wrong bolts on the oil filter housing or the front cover and over tightened them when they bottomed them out, then you might be leaking around a bolt. These holes are not supposed to be tapped...
LOL :ohdamn:Fair warning, I have had the fuse for my fuel pump blow. Pulled over to the side of the road and dropped in a new fuse. Using this type of fuseable link, the job will not be near as easy!
At 30 Amp, you might as well hard wire it straight in.
^^^^^This^^^^You should have a hose from your boost source to the WG nipple. If you have a nipple on your J pipe run a hose from there to your Waste gate. A MBC goes in between, when you are ready.
here's a thread on my squirters, 2.3 using evo squirters had to bend them to fithttp://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/stroker-tech/395338-6-bolt-oil-squirters-2-3-a.html#post152606146
Easy answer, whatever you want to do.
Some people will say you don't need the squirters so don't use them and others say that cooling off your pistons is always a good idea - I fall into the later group. If you block them off you will have to deal with high oil pressure so I would just use...
Same as shimming the pivot ball.
Without it the release point of my clutch was about 2 inches off the floor. If I ran it up where it was more comfortable then it blocked the bleed hole in the master.
With the extended rod I have a full range of adjustment and do not block off the bleed hole.
if it is not releasing try the extended slave rod - it did wonders on my car.
Cheap and easy to change - bought mine off ebay.
It brought my pedal up so high I had to crank the adjusting rod in. Now I have a wide range of adjustment
Best answer.......With FWD and almost any mods, go around a corner and nail it. Your wheels smoke - pretty cool ugh? Jump on the gas and pass someone on the expressway, and your car feels like it has a mind of its own - torque steer.AWD you can get your wheels to break lose but you...
That looks like a complete motor, so slap it in, use the CAS that is on the 6bolt and you should be ready to go.
Are you sure that 7 bolt is good, looks like someone had the valve cover off for some reason and if water has gotten into those spark plug hole....
I think the edge of that piece of glass that you started with would probably work as a pretty good straight edge.Alternatively you can just get a framing square at Harbor freight for $10 and do the same verification for straightness. then you have a multipurpose tool for $10.
Whole lot...
Yes you can slap it in.
The biggest difference will be the flywheel.
The other difference is in the Cam angle Sensor. If you have a six bolt with CAS then you may have to do a conversion to go back to crank angle sensor and cam angle sensor. First thing to do is take a picture of what you...
On my keydiver, KNOC means it sends the knock count to the stock boost gauge. Each line on the gauge represents 7 counts of knock.I would guess the 75/60 is the stutter box with a redline of 7500
When you changed the crank sensor did it look like it had been hit/broken/worn ?Someone with more experience can chime in but, my understanding is that if you have crank walk, the crank angle sensor gets destroyed.
power transistor?http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-electrical-wiring/229419-how-test-power-transistors.htmlsame code is confusing though did you check the wiring? It may have gotten broken or worn through and grounding.
