It’s been ages for me too, I remember the beginning of this thread 😁. I weld sanitary for a living now. But I also do my own side business of machining parts. I know this isn’t welding, but if y’all need flanges and stuff - holler at me!
I was provided a dxf from the customer, but after comparing it to a clear picture of the gasket it looked a little off, and was missing the hole near the egr. Mind if I get that file from you? I can pay , or make you a free flange 🤷♂️. I have a 3 axis Cnc mill.
Hey guys, it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted here.I’m looking for some help - specifically any files that you guys may be willing to share/sell. DXF, STEP, F3D, even STL.I’m currently in need of a 6 bolt intake manifold flange file, but I’d also like 7 bolt, and exhaust manifolds...
I picked an internship kind of thing at a race car building shop, the experience is amazing. I've got to weld mainly chromoly and steel. One was a very intricate rear end on a pro-mod type car.I just finished a tubular k member for a mustang! Might sound like nothing to you guys but I'm...
I did manage tl fix my awful screech, it was how It came set up. I adjusted the biss screw and the idle adjuster together so now it still idles the same just without the ear piercing screech.
There isn't any scaling on the metal right? Try brushing an area clean then welding. Turn the heat way down it looks like your burning it. See how large the heat affected zone is? Try to make it much smaller by kicked the amperage down and possibly moving faster, or maybe even try pulsing...
120 amps seems awfully hot, i would probably go closer to 70-80ish.Try making a puddle, dab the rod for just a second, move the torch a little over then pause, dab it again for just a second, move the torch a little more then pause, etc. Then once you get the rhythm you can start trying to...
Sigh.... it's mine.. I can't afford two waste gates right now and I'm replacing that housing with a larger one when I can afford it. I'm going through a divorce and I need to get my shit out of her house so.. just one cheap knock off waste gate will have to get me by for now..
Either contaminating the tungsten very often of the gas coverage is wrong. What is the torch setup?if your not actually touching the tungsten to the metal accidently, try bumping the argon up to around 20-25cfh. and make sure the tungsten isnt sticking out too far.if your having an issue...
I havent had any issue with my 200sx just need more practice. 5 year warranty. Ive used a synchrowave and some sort of lincoln that we have at school. And they are all nice, the only difference I really notice is the torch.
Well, best advice ive had all year! ROFL. Im working on it wife ,2 kids, full time job, school AND a racecar, im not even sure what money feels Like anymore
My normal helmet flickers pretty bad when on low amperage dc. So I had to use this ole raggity hunk of crap, I mean the lens is duct taped on. Really thing walled SS down pipe I had to add a flex pipe to.
back purge them for sure, and yes, weld about .5-1" on one joint, then move to another on the opposite end of the pipe, or another pipe completely.
Also if you bevel the pipes it will help quite a bit with uniformity and penetration.
My suggestion is tack it really good.. realllly good . Like really good. And then remove the runners and weld on a table seperatly. Then weld the runners back on. I encountered this problem and my runners shrank more then I thought they would with adequate tacking. So when I put that back on it...
I may not have the prettiest welds around but it feels awesome to be able to do your own work instead of having to rely on another person and waste money and time waiting on it.Still very noobish at tig but I really enjoy it and ill only get better hopefully!
Plus its a great career. or so ive heard =P
Didnt get anything done today really, straight from work to school. Did manage to get a little wire wheel action for a few minutes. ill post pics because why the hell not lol
i bet it would too. Although, unless im mistaken, my machine is an inverter type and the millers at school are transformer type. Would that make a difference?
Ah, and you forgot that they are a major pain in the ass. Pain in the ass, definitely forgot that. ROFLafter doing my overhead test (with a cheap welding jacket) i had burn marks ALL over my left arm, it looked like i had some crazy supercharged chicken pox.. Shit was not fun.Im no pro at...
Next town over we have a state college irsc, they have a welding program. With EVERY type of welding which kind of sucks because I only really care about mig and tig.And yes, 8 months. I havent even gotten my bumper , sideskirts, or mirrors back yet
=D the more you practice I guess.Best 2 things ive done for practice so far is, get a comfortable torch setup, and the biggest argon bottle I could afford. I went through the 80 in no time ive had the 330 for well over 3 months and havent had to refill it yet!
andddddd here is the current set up. Please note, most of these pipes have been welded or tacked, then cut of broken off, then rewelded and retacked etc.So they look really ugly, prior to welding i am going to wire wheel them all, and it should be much much more presentable, ive allready...
Enrolled in welding school, after i got my car back from the paint shop i come to find out the hood wont close with the manifold. The collector was too tall, so i needed to shorten by about 3 inches but there just wasnt that much i could take off of it.So i pretty much had to start...
Yes they make a ck9 or wp9 just for longevity, gamble can probably fine you one for a steal.Fyi from my experience and talking to people , welding pipe is one of the hardest to learn because there are so many repositions required its hard to get it all uniform.Get in a comfortable position...
I was right there with you not long ago, also got into a 200sx.Best advice is youtube videos watch as many as you can, and run a shit ton of small to medium beads on some barstock or something.Imo you want to run smaller beads , so you visually inspect your welds frequently. Quench...
If i could get those little SS mesh screens to stop melting on me the whole bead would be silver! Anybody ever try putting a screen over the end of the cup? like ive seen people say white scotch brite works perfect but i can never find white? and the green just catches fire very quickly.
i stole some little stainless scrap pieces from school today, i really need to work on making the bead uniform throughout, seems like theres always a spot or two that i need to re-position before continuing, and you can tell where lol..( 1/8" Stainless, no idea which type, my guess is 304...
check out this super cheap stainless steel mesh, i hoseclamped it to my larger cup and OMG did it make the hugest difference?!thats 1 straight continuous pass, nearly all silver with some light blue! , thats like a 6-7" pass, i was super stoked , the mesh cost me 3.45$
Right, but back in the day most people wouldnt backpurge. They didnt find it necessary.A turbo manifold is much much different then some headers on a v8.
Alot of the old timers will just weld it together and do an excellent job at it. But without gas on the inside of the runners it...
Make sure they tig weld it, and make sure you back purge it. Flood the inside of the tubes with argon, otherwise it will sugar and cause weak spots. Theyll try to argue you wont need it lol im sure. But just make sure they do.
Theres a large price difference in prebuilt and diy, and the collector on that diy is really nice.Expect to pay 75 $ for a decent flange and 150ish for a decent collector
