It should bolt on as the base gaskets are interchangeable between the 4G63 TB and a Jeep 4.0L TB but what are you going to do about the Jeep TB not having shaft seals and the sensors and wiring harness won't match up? IMO if you want a 60mm TB you should just buy a 1G Turbo DSM TB.Edit: Oops...
Just a followup; A few PMs back & forth with estoyaqui30 and the problem he mentioned is the car is running lean. That isn't a throttle body issue since a boost leak test showed no leaks. Hopefully he'll find the cause and get the car sorted out shortly.
THANK YOU estoyaqui30 !! Glad that loose end wasn't left out there for a newbie to stumble across down the road. We have to remember that whatever gets posted will still be here years from now.
And as always, if my customer has a problem with their TB I cover the postage both ways if it has to...
Well OK. estoyaqui30 makes a post and says he's having issues with the throttle body I did for him. I guess he can say whatever he wants but it would only seem fair for me to have the chance to address his issue before he takes it to the forums. I haven't been contacted so I'm going to say that...
No problem MY1GDSM! Many DIY'ers are capable of doing these rebuilds too. I only ask there be a level playing field to offer my service so thanks for correcting your post. :thumb:
Don't know where you got "save over $100." :hmm:
I charge $115 including return shipping for a rebuild and when you get your TB back it will be cleaned, beadblasted, sensors tested, the TPS adusted etc.
I fixed him up with a replacement screw & locknut.
Also, the screw is adjusted correctly when there's mimimal throttle plate gap and it doesn't stick when closed.
Just ran acrosss this thread and wanted to add some info;
I may or may not have supplied this TB to the shop where eder-loco purchased it but the only reason that a throttle blade is sticking with the motor running but not sticking with the motor off is because motor vacuum is pulling the...
siceclipse,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I will definately try to earn it too.
If you send a TB to me for machining and I find that a sensor is bad, I'll cut a deal with you on the price. That's an open offer to all DSM Tuner members. Half price on sensors if yours are bad when I work...
Well, Besides doing little freebie things all the time (which I don't care to mention so as not to get ppl started taking advantage of those freebies) I'm actually absorbing some real losses without going up in price now.I won't go into the losses in detail but they mainly involve...
Hi DSM'ers
Just saw this thread so wanted to mention that the price on ISCs is $35 now.
I didn't like trying to do this on the cheap by mailing them in bubble pack envelopes :( so now I'm taking them them to the PO and mailing them in Priority Mail boxes.
The good news is they'll get there...
Hi Mike, Yes, the half shaft is safe even on a turbo car and makes a significant difference. The CFM gain is measurable by figuring the cross scection of that part of the shaft that gets removed and adding that to the bore area. My math showed that a 63mm TB w/a 10mm shaft will flow about the...
Going past 63 mm on a 1G can cause several problems TBs are casting and the wall thickness can vary from one to the next.
Not long after I did the 66.5mm for Mike :thumb: I bored through the walls on another one at 66mm and ruined it. :notgood: I'd say 65mm is the limit to be safe now but it...
Hey guys, excuse me but where do you post parts wanted on this site? I need to buy some DSM throttle body cores asap. Business has been good lately. Thanks
Steve Monroe
Hello DSM'ers,
Just an FYI for anyone interested. I'm now able to offer 1990 throttle body machining & rebuilding service. Cost is $150 and includes full disassembly, cleaning, beadblasting, machining bore to 63mm, new shaft seals, FIAV gasket & biss screw O-ring, . I'll pay the return shpg...
Well...no feedback - no resolution. Yours was one of or the first DSMs I ever did and I did not have a source for the shaft seals at that time. I basically could only machine the bore at that time. I'm not sure why the blade was sticking but it being among the first of the DSMs I did, maybe I...
I didn't spend a lot of time looking for a suitable gasket but you can't use the factory ones when the bore is 63mm. I think most are just applying a skim coat of sensor safe RTV, etc.
Thanks
Steve
If you aren't in a hurry and if it's worth $150 incl shpg to you, I'll talk to my friend. He owns a turbocharger repair shop in Okc, OK and I'd have to have the TB here so I could be able to drive over there whenever they have no lathe work going on. (I might need the TB for 2-3 weeks to fit...
On a 90 model I guess you can fill it with epoxy. I could probably do a 90 model if my lathes had larger swing. I could jam a strip of rag or something into the fiav opening to keep the chips out but those vacuum tubes and the non-removable fiav require a lathe that can swing over 12" diameter...
Yes I'm sorry I can't do those too. I don't like to turn down anything but the 90 model TB can't be done to my satisfaction b/c the non-removable fiav section would fill with cutting chips when it's machined and there's no practical way to prevent that or be sure they're all cleaned out after...
I didn't find the article on that link but I did see a Mustang TB bolted to their fine looking custom intake manifold and it had the 1/2 shaft mod on it. Pic is Here The intake is supposed to be a new offering from them so maybe they do use the shaft mod now (?)
In addition to all the Buick...
Hi All,
Just stopped in to mention that I have a new machining service for those considering the NT throttle body. Send me your 1G NT throttle body and I'll clean, beadblast, machine the bore to 63mm, install new gaskets & seals and modify the shaft for $100 incl shpg. With the 1/2 shaft mod I...
We installed a DIY on my friends Stage 2 Buick T Type and I selected a .045" jet for his combo but then he began running more & more boost than the 18 psi he had been running so we had to up the pressure to 90 to keep out of the knock zone. His system has worked for two years now but that little...
TurboConvert,
See reply within your post quoted below.I am having trouble deciding where to place the nozzle/s. I have seen installations just before the IC and ones in the UIC pipe. I have also seen installations with both. What is the point of spraying into the intercooler?>>It's...
No DIY controller but Julio at Alky Control has the best I'm aware of. I never have made any upgrades to my DIY kit. It worked great in 1996 when I first installed it and I still have the same setup on both my GN and TTA today. Counting both cars, I have 12 years experience with it and couldn't...
Hi guys, I'm the one who owns the page in the link above and just wanted to let you know that the Shurflo pump I list on my site can be adjusted to put out over 150 psi by turning the small screw on the limit switch at the top of the pump.
Thanks,
Steve Monroe
