has anyone put a cutout on a turbo 420a? i ordered one from summit and when i have the money i will make it an electric cutout but for now i will just use the plate. where do you think i should put it in the exhaust? i was thinking before the cat. will that mess up the way my car runs?
I run the sme manifold with great success. It did finally crack a weld the other day. Went 5 years or so though. The weld that cracked was the inner wastegate tube weld. My gasless mig fixed that with no problems though and it is holding fine. Looks great mang.
You know if you have spikes by lookng at your bost gauge...;) If your low is on 4 dots and your high is on 4 dots then they are set the same. So your boost should not change between the two. I wouldnt worry about what the turbo can handel. Worry about what your fuel system and your tuning...
You will be at about 40. It depends on what base pressure is set at. Thats what you get. The rising rate dosent matter. You are fine. The fuel filter is a good spot. If you want to run nice fittings just go to home despot and get a 1/8npt tee. Bu two barb fittings and a 1/8npt to whatever...
The valve can take more than 30 psi. Dont think in psi think percent. You can only run about 1.5 times the spring pressure of the wastegate. This also depends on how you have it hooked up and wht type of wastegate. If it is inline to a internal or the bottom port of external than that rule...
I own both cars. And i ask the same question... Why? That 6 is solid. Its not as hard to work on as you think. I have mine apart right now. I wouldnt swap.
Well I got this to work just fine. It seams that with the FF housing the oil pressure went down alot? Just looking at the stock gauge. I havent hooked up a real gauge but the stock gauge does show quit a bit less oil pressure. Is this normal with this housing? My oil pump is brand new I...
it is the fastest opening valve on the market. It works great.I have been running it for a couple months now on my DD and it still works likt eh day I put it on.
So I am running a oil restrictor on my turbo. I have the restrictor directly in my turbo(1/8th npt) Because of this it puts my feed line kinda close to the exhaust. Would i be ok to move it to the other side of the line off the OFH. I searched but there were no threads I could find about the...
You sir need to read more. 650's are about as high as you can go with a maft. For these cars they are really a waste of money unless you use dsmlink. I would check out dsmap if you have or can get a eprom. you can sell your translator and pay for dsmap and you get control ov everything...
You need the adapter. I didnt look at your mods but you will also want to have the recirc kit if your using the stock maf. Well it really depends on your cams. I run the synapse and with 272s it is open at idle. With stock cams is stays closed. It dosent matter for me but it would matter if...
Not to change the ongoing feed questions but... this turbo really kicks ass. I did however find te limit of my COP. I had a real bad miss after 18 psi. The tune was solid. So I went to the stock setup and 24 psi with no problems now. Running zeor knock with 18 degrees of timing at 7000. I...
Yeah. Should be 1/8 npt on the feed. And standard garret flange for the drain. Some people use a gasket and flange on top which is still standard garret feed.
You will need a moats ostrich, wideband, eprom that is socketed, map senosr and a GM AIT sensor. A new release of Jackal came out and there are a few different map sensors you can use now. Up to the AEM 5 bar. So you wont be boost limited I promise. Check out ds-map.net for more info. I mod...
I run the synapse. It is great. I had problems with the tial and cams. Even with the 7psi spring my 272s didnt pull enough vac to open the BOV. The synapse is the fastest opening valve on the market. With cams it is open during idle. So unless you are running blow through or SD it might...
Oh.. Ok. Then yeah your timing looks like a good start:D I guess I dont understand the numbers in the left clum. I guess they are load but they lok different than the way we have ours setup.
I think I just founf my next buy. Great install andy. I downgraded to a COP setup due to have ing to relocate some things and not having room(or making room) for the stock coil. If this helps the COP I am in. Gixerman could you post some pics of your install aswell? I never heard of this...
I think the torque on the knock sensor is like 11 lbs. You can tell if yours is bad by the goo in the middle. If it is gone or mushy get a new sensor. BTW I would raise the timing table in the upper load level. Start at like 10 at 4500 and end at 15 at 7000. That is still very concervative...
I put my 272's in yesterday and the spool slowed down about 300 RPM. Still a weak timing curve. I added some timing and will post spool results later. At 24psi the thing pulls pretty good though. I will be at the track next week. I am running without a fileter right now because I havent...
Have a housing made for you!!! I just did. It seams to work very well. I am running a hx 35 and I had a old t3 garett housing machined for the holset. Set me back a whole 100 bucks and bolts into my exhaust. Only took the guy 1 hour to make too!!
John at majestic turbo in waco, tx. The turbo is a 7 blade holset hx35. Thats all I know. I only have about 200 bucks in the setup. Thing pulls hard as crap though.
It was a .63ar housing I had machined to accept the holset. And it seems to work great!!! 23psi by 4000rpm on a very conservative tune. 15 degrees of timing at 7000rpm and alittle rich. The car pulled hard. I will be putting my 272;s back in soon.:hellyeah:
Well I got it going. OMG it pulls hard at 22psi!! Not a real aggressive tune either. only 15 degrees of timing and pretty rich. I will get it dialed in and go to the track tomorrow. Final pics. I need to make a intake still. I will let you guys know about spool too. I am running stock...
The test fit. I had to cut and run rubber line for the coolant going to the filter housing. I am getting rid of that soon anyway but for now it will work fine.
Well here are the pics. I got the oil thing figured out I think. The kit from turbotrader is only a 3/8npt fitting. Which dosent fit quite right but I can make it work with my curretn restrictor. I think this housing should work great.
Im back on the holset bandwagon. I was going to go holset last year but I bent the wheel od my h1c taking it apart. But now I am back. I am getting my HX35 today. I had a local turboshop machine a .63 ar housing that will bolt up to my t3 setup. I do have a oiling question though. My...
I had a crack in my tranny cover so it is getting TIG welded. (the outside cover thingy) My haynes manual dosent give me torque specs for those bolts. What are they?
I just got a FF oil filter housing. It seams to only have one port in it. How are you guys plumbing your stock sensors and turbo feed lines when you use these?
What is the wastegate spring pressure?? That is what matters. Generally you can run 1.5x the the wastegate spring pressure. The MBC should not matter much.
Wow that was a good link. Thats crazy. When we got the new MRAPs in Iraq I shat myself when I saw Recaro seats with 5 point harnesses. I was going to try and see if I could get ahold of some but that didnt work out. Even in Blackhawks we wear 5 point harnesses. Crazy now that I see that video.
I dont want to argue to much but.... In the Army we use 5 point harnesses. And I have never seen someone die from the Harness being bad. I have never seen any men hurt themselves with the harness so bad they cant have kids. And I seriously doubt that a car accident has more force than the...
Before going through that trouble put a voltmeter on your constant wire for the gauges. Then crank the car and see if you have 12 volts the whole time. If not use a different wire.
Why is this logger cable owning me? I have re made it 3 times and it wont work. I figure it shouldnt be that hard to make one. I am trying to log with a laptop so I switched pins 2 and 3 so the dioed is on pin 3 and the resistor is a 10k from radio shack. Here are the pics. I just used some...
I would guess 5000 miles. Hard to say. But in all seriousness you can eliminate the BS shafts for a few bucks. The freeze plug cost 99cents and you can cut the original shaft and reuse the berings. So if you have gaskets around like I do it is easy to do and cheap.
