  1. Startup Problem

Looking for help. 90 turbo eclipse. Car will turn over fire, run rough for a few seconds and die. The next try will start, run rough for a few seconds, clean up and idle fine. This happens every time after the car sits for a time. On a hot restart no problems. Out door temperature makes...
  2. Lowering and bump stops

I need to know the stock lenght of bump stop. I have KYB struts with the boot and bump stop as one peice, can I cut what I need off the top. All I have read the stops are seperate.
  3. Brake Problems

Have 1g RS the right front brake is hotter than the left by 20-50 deg. I have checked the caliper and lubed the slides. Also replaced brake hoses. The car does not pull while driving or under braking. The drag on the right brake is only slightly more than the left but is not abnormal. I...
  4. Bump Stop [Merged 7-7] stops

Just measured everthing up. The struts have 2.0" of travel with lowering springs. The smallest you can cut the bumpstop on the KYB struts is 1" and still use the dust boot. These are the older design one piece type. Is 1" of travel going to do it? I had my son sit on the fender and I...
  5. lowering springs

I have drop zone springs rear are progressive. Does the tigher wound section go up or down on the shock?
  6. Bump Stop [Merged 7-7] stops

I just measured a stock stop which was 2 7/8 and cut the KYB stop to 2 1/8. 3/4 to 1 inch was the most common amount to remove. Hope this works. Was wondering if you need the stops on the back shocks. Mine are gone and was thinking of using a sway bar end link bushing if I need one. What do...
  7. Bump Stop [Merged 7-7] stops

I need to know the stock lenght of bump stop. I have KYB struts with the boot and bump stop as one peice, can I cut what I need off the top. All I have read the stops are seperate.
  8. Front Spring Seat

I placed the seat in the same position as removed. You could see the mark in the rubber. I did not pay attention to any taper in the top seat. I will have to check on this. I would assume the taper is installed opposite to the angle of the spring.
  9. Front Spring Seat

Lowered the car with 2" springs and reinstalled everthing. I checked the spindle movement and found the top spring seat was just rubbing on the inner fender well. What did I do wrong? Will the strut not rub when the car is on the ground or do I need to clearence the area?
  10. Power steering leak

I just did this to my 90. I removed the rack because of rust and ease to work on. You will have to break the joint on the steering column. This is the hardest part, getting it back right. Other wise not to bad of a job. The lines I ordered on line for about $55. You need the car up high to...
  11. Need Help On Head Gaskets, Do I Need To Spray Any Sealant On TheM>????

Copper coat is for paper and metal gaskets only. This material should not be used on a stock head gasket.
  12. Catching rust before its bad.

Most likely if it is the common rust areas it is from the inside out. This means to eliminate it you have to cut it out. If you want to make a lesser repair spray some rust converter undercoat to the back side and refinish. Short term, grind, drill out small pin holes, grind edges away of...
  13. Power steering lines question

You may be able to have the rebuilt at a hydraulic shop. My father had this done a car for $25. The line was much shorter and the connectors were reusable.
  14. question about injector...is it useable?

The black cap is called a plinth cap and it is not uncommon for them to come apart. I found a guy in town that did injectors and purchased one for $.35. It just pushes on with a little force, use some lube. Be very careful not to bend the tip that sticks out from the injector. It may be...
  15. front bumper

I have seen expanding foam used in fiberglass bodies in go karts to add strength. This works but if you have to repair it it is a major pain.
  16. 1G What FWD CV Axles interchange

I want to know what year axles will interchange with a 90 turbo 5spd FWD? I have some from a 93 AT FWD, will they work? The parts store are all over on the fit issue.
  17. PS lines underneath car chassis.

The transfer lines? They are on the rack under the car. I just did mine on a 90. You have to remove the rack. Not a bad job but make sure you have the steering wheel centered. The line were about $50 on-line, took about 4hrs.
  18. Benefits to studs opposed to bolts

Studs provide a more even torque and do not distort the cylinder like a bolt.
  19. How much did you pay for your DSM?

'90 RS 1.8L for $200 needed new dist. and ecu 132,000 miles. I have put $300 into parts to make solid runner. '90 GST 5sp, what we really wanted, found 6 months later. $225 with 232,000 miles and bad timing belt. This car looked much better than RS will need same money in parts as car above...
  20. Lighter wiring

I have a 90 eclipse, auto 1.8. I need to know what color wire is used for the lighter and what plug it is in. I would like to not have to remove the council to find out.
  21. Very serious question about an engine swap

The turbo motor uses a bigger flywheel than a nt. To use the nt tranny you will have to use the nt clutch. I have been researching this to. The only difference I thought in the shifter cables was in the model year 90 and 91-94.
  22. Rear Calipers

I ahve the haynes manual but it does not include any info on rear caliper rebuild. All I want to know is how the piston comes out of the caliper.
  23. Rear Calipers

How do the rear calipers com apart? I would like to rebuild them myself.
  24. 2g Coilovers On A 1g GSX?

I called ground control about the same thing. They said the 2g springs are 1" shorter and have a different spring rate. I have a set of the cheap coilover kits from a 2g for my 1g. I have measured and they are 1" shorter. If you can live witha 1" drop go for it or make a 1" spacer to go...
