Followup:Turns out when I had my calipers replaced by the speedypro (friggin' canadians) they forgot to put back the spring that keeps the e-brake mechanism from closing until the handle is pulled. With noting holding it apart, the mechanism was closed full time and made my brake clamp down...
Hey, I've been having some problems with my ebrake lately.
When I go to pull up on it, there's virtually no resistance anymore. Also, when I come back after a drive, my driver's-side rear wheel stinks of burning brake.
Can someone tell me, if the ebrake cable snaps, is there some sort of...
Hey, first thing, I wouldn't even be considering the centerforce, except that at nopi, it doesn't cost too much more than the stock replacement, so what the hell. The car is mostly stock and it's going to stay that way, so I don't really *need* any stronger clamping force. But:Would I feel...
The day I bought the Talon I also checked out two 4-banger Mustangs and a BMW 318. The bimmer was just for shits and giggles, but my plan was to get one of the mustangs and rebuild a t-bird turbocoupe motor to drop into it.
It made my n/t sound pretty ricey, so be wary of that if it bothers you. I only did it because I couldn't afford a replacement, not for perfmormance. On an N/T you'll also notice a lack of low-end afterwards. But I guess it's faster higher up.
So... don't put your foot into it. Otherwise, being in higher rpms allows you to slow down better when you need to, and doesn't necessitate using your brakes as much.
It's all about technique, too. Run higher in the rpm range than you normally would (i.e., you normally cruise at 3000, cruise at 3500 instead) also, never slam on the brakes if you lose traction. Countersteer and give it a little gas instead. Just take it slow and always keep planty of room...
Dish network's quality really depends on where you get it. My dad lived on a mountain when we first had dish and I really didn't have any major complaints. Now he lives in a valley and we couldn't even get signal by putting it on the roof, we had to go up in a tree and hack off some branches for...
I kinda like the flares. Anything you can do to make it look less neon-y...
As far as performance, I'm not speaking from experience because I've never owned a car with a warranty, but I've heard you can get away with exhaust work without voiding it. Tell him to get a nice cat-back or something.
Most cops don't necessarily have "radar guns" that they point and pull a trigger on anymore, at least the ones by me don't. They use ones that are permanently mounted in the front and back windows and that have a display near the dash that tells them how fast the car that just passed them was...
87-88 Thunderbird turbocoupe. Of course, they're god-awful ugly, but they're fairly cheap to make fast, and if the looks are too much of a problem you can swap the motor in a 4-banger mustang.
Well, my N/T is going to need a new clutch soon enough and I'd like to go to an ACT 2100, but from what I'm gathering from ACT-related posts, I really can't tell if it will last me longer than a stock replacement or not. This car definitely isn't going to be professionally raced. It may get beat...
Ok so I ended up breaking my switch somehow as I was trying to modify it. So I just cut the harness off and spliced the red and green together so the fog lights will always come on w/ the headlights.
Problem is now, driver's side foglight is burned out and I need a new one. Is this light a...
The push-button switch for my fog lights seems like it's broken. Instead of acting like a toggle switch, the fog lights only turn on if I hold the button in, like a momentary switch. Is this a common problem with an easy fix? If it is I'll go ahead and fix it, otherwise I'll just rip the fog...
Well, had it towed to my mechanic, ended up the fuel pump and the cam (crank? I dunno) position sensor both shat out on me at the same time. So, $613 later, I'm back on the road, and with $20 to my exhaust guy, a piece of pipe is in place of my f'd-up cat and it no longer sounds like a...
Meh, I agree. Looks too much like the penis-mobile from The Ambigously ### Duo. Plus I hate that little snub-nose overhang where the mercedes symbol sits. Just like on the new SLK.
I'm starting to realize that with this car... I'm not with it right now, so I can't check the fuses, but on my way in to work today I was thinking that (again, being a dsm) that mitsubishi may have used the exhaust pipe as a ground for the fuel pump (as I've seen multiple ground straps going to...
So my car's been acting funny since this weekend, it's had a total lack of power, was making some rattling noises, etc. I take it to my mechanic friend, who tells me something might have happened in the cat to plug it, which would explain both the loss of power and the rattling. On the way home...
As far as I know it's the stock clutch, yah. I certainly didn't replace it and the previous owner didn't seem like the type to put in an ACT or something. So not being the clutch, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...
Are there any other things I could/should check, based on...
Ok so if it passes that test then it's not the clutch? Because it seemed to hold the rpms just fine. The real big difference was that the throttle response was absolutely nill. I was mashing the throttle and it would barely maintain the speed it was at. Also I'm not smelling anything.
In my CD manual it has service instructions for the following manual trannies:F4M2, F5M2, F5M3, W5M3
W5MG1, W6MG1
R5M21
V5MT1
F5MC1Now which one does my car, the 94 N/T Talon with the 2.0 have?
I've never had a clutch go out on me before, so I don't really know what to look for.
Basically my symptoms are:
Clutch disengages at a higher pedal spot
More force required to shift gear lever
Rattling/grinding noise at around 2K in any gearAre these the symptoms of a clutch that needs...
What is it about the DSMs that makes him think they would make for a good collectible car? They were produced on a huge scale, and aren't exactly earth-shattering when stock.
Personally if I were in the market for a collector car to just keep stock and save for the future, I'd look for either...
He's probably going to be a premium channel that you have to pay for, so that isn't likely to happen.I say he'll be on till Sirius's debt catches up to them and they either go bankrupt or get bought out by XM. They're something like $300 million in debt and they just signed Stern for a $500...
I bought my 93 2.0 n/t for $500, the guy was asking $900It had just had the timing belt done, but it needed struts, tie rods, a flex pipe, and some misc stuff to get it to pass emissions. That all cost me about another $600I'd say look around a little more.edit: I just read the part...
Ahhh... Ok... Nah I'd just skimmed it.
Cool then, I like the black spolier on the red car. Now break out the polishing compound and bring that paint back to life.
My head unit is Sirius-ready also, but Sirius just isn't that appealing to me. I have optimum cable which uses Sirius for their music stations, and they repeat the same songs too often. I'd much rather have XM and subscribe to Opie & Anthony.
Sirius is currently losing money and they just...
The appearance parts they threw at that thing do the engine absolutely no justice. The body kit sucks, the hood scoop is chinsy and the airplane wing is a bit too rice for me. It's just got no class. The wheels and stance are OK, but I'd go in a different direction with the other crap.
