  1. Transmission Pops Out of 1st Gear on Deceleration?

Thanks for the reply again. :thumb:Yesterday I brought the car to a transmission shop and one mechanic told me that it sounded like the 1st gear synchro was worn down enough so that 1st gear doesn't fully engage. I asked him if they could simply replace the synchro and he said no since they...
  2. Transmission Pops Out of 1st Gear on Deceleration?

donniekak, I truly appreciate the reply. Do you have any insight as to how much the repair could cost to replace the 1-2 slide and intermediate shaft bearing? I dropped the price $700 to compensate for this issue but should I adjust the price more?
  3. Transmission Pops Out of 1st Gear on Deceleration?

I tried searching the forums and didn't really find a clear answer to the problem that I am having. For the last 4 years (that I can remember) my transmission will pop out of 1st gear if I accelerate and then let off the gas quick. It will also do this if I put it into first gear when I am...

  5. O-ring at Thermostat Housing?

I was wondering if anyone knew the part number for the o-ring that seals the connection between the thermostat housing and the hard pipe that runs behind the turbo from the water pump? Is the o-ring at that connection the same o-ring that seals the connection at the water pump? It appears that I...
  6. is this suppose to be the charcoal canister?

I am now in the process of re-installing the charcoal canister, and I wasn't smart enough to take pictures or notes to remember how to reconnect everything. My questions are; in the first photo, does that line coming off of the smaller canister remain open to the air like that? In the second...

(This is for a 1999 4G63) I was wondering if anyone knew the torque spec for the large center bolt (24mm I think?) that holds the oil cooler onto the bracket housing? 9. Power Steering Pressure Switch

Does anyone know the part number for the switch? I contacted a dealership about a new switch on the power steering pump and they said they only sold the pump, and wanted $345 for it. Does that sound right? By the sounds of it, you can buy the switch separately right?? I also broke the top...

  11. Charcoal Canister lines on a 99' GSX (removal, venting..etc.)

I've been searching for a number of days now and I can't seem to find a solid answer to my question. I have had my CEL on for about a year because of a "Massive Leak in my Evap System". I assumed that it had to do with my Evap Can (Charcoal canister) so I finally began to fix the problem by...

  15. is this suppose to be the charcoal canister?

Did you leave the sensor that was attached to the canister hooked up? I also read that when you cap the lines, you run the risk of causing excess pressure to accumulate in the fuel tank, did that seem to be a problem for you? Thanks for the reply! :thumb: I'll run out and start removing the...

Well if most of you know me, i am a neat freak about things, and like to keep things clean, and what i did was pulled off the water line for the turbo on the front side (Banjo bolt goes through and 2 crush washers seal it around the head of the water line) to clean it, and i am pretty sure it is...

  20. Timing Problem?

yeah the oil pump is connected to the back balance shaft, therefore the timing belt has to come off in order to get the oil pump cover off, so yeah, just take a look at your timing marks to see if they did something wrong, just look at the crankshaft pulley and see if the marks on that lines up...
  21. Car Overheated / Overheating / Overheats [MERGED]

Did you see any white smoke coming from the exhaust? problem could be coolant seal for the water cooled bearing on its way out, so the coolant is going out of your exhaust, therefore decreasing the volume of coolant in the engine, therefore causing your engine to overheat! might just be a small...

  30. Water Pump Replacement

Just to get you in the right direction, i believe vfaq.com has a write up about it in the timing belt replacement article, but to save you some time, all you have to do is open the drain on the radiator (it's on the bottom) then when its done, start taking your accessory belts off (AC, water...
  31. Slave Cylinder Extension Rod..

I am just wondering how many of you guys have actually bought an extension rod for the slave cylinder, my clutch grabs really close to the floor, and seems like it doesnt shift like it should, if i adjust it to where it engages a little further off the floor, then the clutch slips when i get on...

  36. Where is balance shaft plug?

It's a 14mm bolt on the back side of the block, you kind of have to search around for it, just look for a bolt that has "why is this here" all over it haha... i didnt find mine until i pulled the engine out and loosened it and saw that it went through to the balance shaft. I always just set the...

  38. 96 degrees yesterday, I need AC!!!

To answer is, they should have put a sticker under the hood saying that it has been retrofitted.. thats what they had to do on my old car... otherwise my guess would be; it hasnt been, or they took the sticker off...i dont know how else you can tell if it has been or not? anyone else know?

  42. AC Belt Fraying Apart?

hey thanks, sorry i wasn't completely specific, it is fraying apart on the side towards me when i stare down at it (opposite side from the side that faces the timing belt covers) so i'm not sure if it is the AC compressor pulley that is eating it, the idler pulley, or the crankshaft pulley...
  43. AC Belt Fraying Apart?

Hey, i got my car without an AC belt on it, so i went a year and a half before breaking down and deciding to get a belt, so i did, put it on, worked awesome, and now, 1,500 miles later, i get out of my car to hear a slapping noise, so i pop the hood, and to my surprise i see that a part of one...

gouges are minimal,i did feel one at the top of the hole, but nothing substantiary, i guess i'll just pound it in some more, the first time i did it, i dont think i had it pounded in evenly, this time i took my time, and worked it in slowly, so i think i'll be alright... If the leak isnt fixed...
  48. Replacing Passenger Side Axle Seal

Sorry, yeah i meant fill plug, words got before my thoughts on that one..
  50. Transmission Leak!

New question, if you overfill a transmission, will the excess leak out? The reason i ask is because i went to add fluid to it tonight, since i figured it would need some after a weeks worth of driving, so i jacked both sides up, so the front end was off the ground, unbolted the drain plug and...
