So this happened... lol. Its not like de-pinning the ECU. Any way to get this thing open?EDIT:::: Figured it out! Was looking at it from the wrong side... heres how you do it.
Well I did a leakdown test today and every cylinder was at 20-25% according to the cheap HF leakdown tester I got. I didnt hear any air in the intake or exhaust, even on the valve that I thought may have been bad.
Im 90% sure that the light could be seen all the way around, its just the angle I took the picture at that makes it hard to see. The guy I got it from said that It was recently rebuilt (which I think it true because I found some assembly lube inside it). It was only that 1 valve out of all of...
Hey I was having issues with compression previously (cyl2) and it lead to bent valves. I replaced the head and its now fixed. Compression is (1-4) 170 170 170 140 .... I know 140 is still ok, but im confused why one is at 140. (Added a cap of oil and there was no change)When I got the head I...
I did a tbelt and found the balance shaft belt snapped. I didnt check timing prior to removing everything so im assuming it may have skipped a couple of teeth.
Cant he just get a stocker t25 or 14b and get that running instead of higer end 20g's etc that wont even push 10psi on stock 420 internals?Oh, and youd also need to tap the comp housing or intake pipe next to the turbo to anser your original question
Yea, I just dont want to spend money on a new head and then find out it was ok lol. I cant take it apart and leave it apart so I cant really even check other than what ive already done
Well I have a compression tester and I just took the one way valve out and hooked it up to the compressor. When I do that it holds NO pressure, and immediately goes to the throttle body. Only reason I dont think its a HG is because there was no movement of coolant in the thermo housing at all...
I did a compression test ~3weeks ago and everything was 170+ psi ... car started to run rough and now all are still at the same level except cyl #2 -- its at 60psi and when oil is added it went up to ~70ish.I put each cyl at TDC and injected air into the cylinders. When I got to cyl #2, air...
Im doing a whole bunch of mods to my car (turbo, etc...) and decided to replace the Tbelt. Car has119k on it. Ive only driven it 72miles since I got it. I was going to do a BSE kit but didnt want to do it with the motor in the car so I decided to just replace the balance belt and save the kit...
So I installed a fuelab AFPR and RC750 injectors. I used ecuflash and set the 750cc and 330 deadtime and then activated the fuel pump to set the pressure. The gauge would pin to 80psi and I couldnt adjust it at all. I figured it was just a faulty gauge so I tried to start the car and it wouldnt...
Got the cat and it was literally the same ID and OD as the apexi. It turned out my welding skills were so shitty because my welder was broken internally. Got a new welder and everytbing went smooth :-)
Welp, just got back from the station, I passed! I think the 2way/3way factor was more impt than the heavy metal... the HM cats are for 96+ cars, but our engines have been pretty much the same since 90, so I figured theyd all put out the same emissions.. so if a 95 7 bolt can pass a 97 should be...
I modded my apexi downpipe and welded in a 3" magnaflow cat. Its a 3 way cat with regular ceramic honeycomb. I didnt realize until today that the box says "pre obd2" which means its not a heavy metal type of cat (my cars a 97) ... will that make a difference and make me fail the sniffer test? I...
If the bearing is completely gone or really badly damaged, youll be able to move the end cap/rod SIGNIFICANTLY by hand. You can do a compression test to test for valves in most cases... are you sure its not a normal noise?
So I ordered 2 of those lever shoes and they ignored my order -- then I ordered 2 more from a different site. Same thing -- I needed to move the car tomorrow to fab up an apexi/cat downpipe so I decided to make my own. I had ordered an ebay shifter and it came with those caps used to fit...
That gear on the right, if you pull it make sure you put it back in the right way -- I put it in upside down once and started a whole thread on here about why my trans was locking up. Keep track!
OK thats what I thought -- I tried googling "apexi downpipe O.D" lmao .. you could imagine how NONE results I got ... looking at the link and every other place ive been looking for the past 2 hrs, it appears that the ID is 3" on the cat.Part of the long story was that I dont trust the shops...
Long story REALLY short --Im going to have to end up hacking my Apexi downpipe to fit a high flow cat in my exhaust system :( . Im looking at http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mpe-54959/overview/Its a 3" -slip fit- style high flow cat. If it says the inlet/out is 3" and my apexi is also...
In the video you can see what moves ---Luv2rallye posted this then it disappeared, so I checked this at the same time http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/maintenance-repairs/376341-97-gs-t-fifth-gear-grinding-help.html#post152266167The arm in the video just rocks (as you can see) -- when I...
Under the hood the arm on the tranny does move, when in gear and I rock it side to side. I made a video (didnt have a partner to help) if its needed to see, but when I put it in gear the linkage and everything under the hood on the trans itself definitely moves. This is suggesting the linkage is...
Just checked and everything under the hood moves in sync with the shifter, so I dont think the cables are stretched, tho thinking about it -- it would make sense. From what I remember, 2gs are non adjustable, correct?
The U shaped bushing that kind of slides on? Yupp mine is still there and fits in snug. That was one of the 1st things I checked :-)
You cant tell from the video, but its not like the shifter is limp. Im not saying I can blow on it and itll move, its actually pretty tight. Im just not sure if...
No it goes into gear solidly everything is good, but that side play is killing me! Im going to go out and check that bushing right nowTook it apart and these 2 bushings were in there. They still look good. If I hold the base and try to move the pivot spot where these bushings are, its solid...
Bushings for the point where it pivots? No -- I didnt think that would effect stiffness in horizontal movement... I'm assuming I guessed wrong?Edit:::: I did change the under hood bushings to solid aluminum ones
This is driving me nuts! The car (97 tsi) came with an ebay block short shifter and it was horrible. After reading on here, people were saying the solution was to get a b&m (or clone), and use an oem level. So I purchased the clone and the oem lever, and also a new spring. It feels better, but...
If youre saying the metal tip (the sensor) got pulled off of the wire its connected to, and you just threw the metal part away, and connected the black wire to someplace on the tstat housing... then its probably NOT going to work.If its already hooked up, why wouldnt you just turn on the...
