What he said/\/\/\/\ I was wondering what took so long for someone to say this. I had my 95 GS turboed with an HRC turbokit @75,000 miles, after it was hydrolocked at low speed, and it held up fine for about 6 years before I had the engine totally built. BREAKAGE WAS NOT THE CAUSE of the...
Thanks. The MR2's are NOT turbo, but the green one will be. The black one is a daily driver. I bought them even tho they are non-turbo, because they are rare Hardtop models, with no power options. Lightest, and best rigidity when compared to t-top MR2's. Factory hardtop-turbo's are even...
Insurance was NOT going to total it, but the car was hit on both sides during its life, and I didnt want to drive a car like that so I had them total it. It was bought from insurance for $300 and then parted out.
Every once in a while I start to miss my DSM's ( Green95 and Silver 97). Although they were a pain in the a$$ sometimes and cost me TONS of money, it was truly a "love-hate" relationship that was just good and bad enuff to keep it interesting. It was great while it lasted until the night of...
The Crane 0014 "turbo-grind" cams should not really idle any rougher than the stockers. I had them in my built Howell Stroker motor. I have heard that the Crowers are the better way to go. The Crane 0016's are a little more aggressive from what I understand (not from Crowers ).
Yes, mine took I would say 4.5 - 5 months to have it completed. Kinda frustrating having to wait that long, but everything was done properly, and I had no issues with the engine. Hopefully that length of time is not the norm for them.
My Howell 2.2L seems pretty nice. You can def notice the torque difference. On another note, since my idler pulley took a shit on me, I am in the process of machining the head, and having all 16 valves replaced. And YES, Howell does seem to take a long time to get things done.
Yes, what /\/\/\/\/\/\ said. Makes sure that there are no boost leaks. Check all of your silicone couplers and make sure that they are clamped on well. Also make sure that you you have no exhaust leaks, although you should be able to tell if you do by hearing. The S16G should spool by 3-4K...
You want to use the hose that comes outta the rail in a barb ( upper, in your pic ) to connect to the FMU. The Fuel inlet ( lower, in your pic ) is the High Pressure Feed line.Good Luck
The meet was great!! Good to see everyone from Team Trinity again. You all are a great bunch of people. I just wish that I was able to make it there earlier, but it was a great turnout from what I saw.Cant wait till next year, and hopefully I will see you all sometime before that.
In a sense yes, but its more of a block-off plate. Keep in mind, this is NOT for the intake manifold, its for the EGR pipe. It a small kinda diamond shaped gasket that you need to make a template for.
Well, I know that on my 95 the FPR was on the end of the fuel rail. It did have a vacuum line on it, and I dont see a prob with using that existing port if you have a 95.
I believe what you are talking about is the EGR block-off mod. What you do is make a template of the EGR gasket out of aluminum, and sandwich that between the gasket and the intake mani. Therefore, the EGR ( Exhaust Gas Recirculator ) which recycles hot exhaust gases into the intake mani, is...
You can tee it of from one of the other vacuum lines that are already there, BUT I have mine dedicated to the three barb fitting on the mani. I think that it would be better to just have it run directly.
You are pretty much right. When it gets a boost signal via the vacuum port, it limits the flow back to the tank thereby increasing pressure in the rail, and you get more FP.
Nice. I stand corrected.I still think that turbo is the better way to get more hp, especially with the Megasquirt fuel and spark controller that is now available.
You seem to be a bit confused. And you seem to have confused a few of us. How can you say that you are an "N/T w/turbo" and ALSO have a supercharger? Which is it? Cause I am SURE that you are not twincharged. Most all aftermarket FPR's are "inline" at some point. The stock FPR on a 95...
Hahn does say that the stock TRANSAXLE ( read: transmission ) was stock and held up to 450whp. Our tranny's are not a weak link. I am SURE that there is NO way the stock axles can cope with that amount of power, especially when using either drag radials or slicks. For any doubters, make...
First of all, you cant use the axles from the GST.You can look into Driveshaftshop.com or MachV.com.MachV sells some Fidanza ones that are 20-30% stronger if my memory serves me correctly. The Driveshaftshop offers them in various stages, and varying prices accordingly.
That would work AS LONG AS, the red hose connection is a -6AN. From the looks of that pic, it appears to be -4AN. Something like that with the -6AN hose fitting will suit you fine.
You can only go so far as far as injector sizing and the SFMU. You will get to a point where you cannot get the idle fuel pressures low enough to get good idle characteristics with the large injectors.
The S-AFC should onle be used as a FINE tuning tool after all other tuning has been taken...
You are limited by the size of the fuel injectors, and the fact that you will be running the FMU that comes with the Star kit.I would guestimate that you can get 250whp with that setup. THATS JUAT A GUESS.If you want more power after that, I would suggest and 034EIC 8 injector setup or...
Yeah, what /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ said. Pretty much Hahn sells up to the stage 2 for a simple bolt on application. "Stage 3" is not even sold, but its pretty much stage 2 with forged internals. Stage 4 is an addition of larger turbo, with their larger injectors and Accel DFI fuel controller, which...
Its a "test port" that is used to see if there is sufficient fuel pressure at the rail. It has a Schreader valve in it, much like a valve on a tire. Push the pin in, and fuel should shoot out.People with the 8 injector setup remove the valve, and use that port as a way to connect both fuel...
Yeah, I guess, when you consider that HRC has been running the stock head for a while with the ho they have been making. But if you wanna SPEND your money, by all means do so.
YOU DO NOT NEED A FORGED CRANKSHAFT! I have NEVER seen anyone that has broken a stock crankshaft in these cars much less any other car to a point where you have to worry about it. Howell contracts out to a shop that modifies the stock crankshaft to allow the increase in stroke. Hence, you...
Well it took about 5 1/2 months for them to get my engine done. They gave me the same reason that he gave you about the race season, which is perhaps true plus other reasons. NOW is the time to have engine work done, so that you can enjoy the car in the summer. I think thats what most people...
It would be easier to have Howell biuld the engine, than have them send you the parts and then you take/send them to a machine shop to have it assembled etc. The less "middlemen" as they say is better IMO. However, as i already posted, Howell can take ( and did take a while in my instance ) to...
Engine runs great with the turbo. I have only boosted 12-14psi, but was running way lean at the time with an almost 18:1 A/F ratio. YIKES!!!!!! But the car put out 262.7hp@ the wheels and 272.5ft/lbs of torque TOTALLY UNTUNED. Not too bad IMO, but still could be better. I now have the 8...
Well as far as not liking some of the things that come on the HRC kit, that to me is really a bad reason for not getting the kit. If you wanna upgrade the BOV to something you have your eye on already, then whats the big loss? IF you buy the kit used, there may already be a BOV that you want...
Seriously man, if you are asking that kinda question ( and no malice or hate meant towards you ), you need to do more bit more research on blown cars. You should also check out 2gnt.com if you have not already, and read by searching. There is a SHITLOAD of info on our cars over there...
You give some decent info on what your car has on it, but if you wanna turbo it, then you need to have some low compression pistons. If your car is fully built N/A, with some nitrous, I am willing to bet that may be a fairly high compression engine.
Any info on compression numbers? You can...
I have a Howell 2.2L stroker. I like it. Even tho Gary and everyone was polite with me through all the phone call check-ins, it still took a long while to get it done. Thats really the only thing that miffed me a tad with them. Other than that, I like the engine.
I have the Hahn Stage 2.The only probs that I had are:Downpipe sucks!! Leaks! BUT they now sell a 3" downpipe that fixes that problem.Exhaust manifold bolts supplied with the kit have a tendency to break off inside the head.
Get some 8mm exhaust manifold studs ( for the 4g63 )...
If you are sticking with 4 injectors, then you want to get the Vortech SFMU. The FMU is OK at best. and the SFMU is better, because it has more adjustability of the fuel ratio via, more disks, base idle screw, and the optional bleed valve. If you want to go with the 8 injector setup, then a...
NO. There is no BISS screw as there is on the 4g63. Our idle is determined by the ECU/PCM.Try putting your foot under the gas pedal, and lifting up. It could be that you throttle cable is sticking. It has happened to me a couple times.
