SOLDMIVEC Conversion for DSM - I built and ran this on my auto 1g back in 2013 with the help of Kevin. It is a very efective means of getting an automatic up on a converter - It brought my combination up on the converter in ~2 seconds verses 8+ without it. I controlled it with ECMLink and I'll...
I'm thinking about jumping to an AEM EMSv2 and have read everything I can find about it.I still have a couple questions I can't seem to find answers for:VSS - I lost one block due to the 1g speed sensor bouncing and inadvertently switching on my nitrous kit, Is there an alternate VSS I can...
As the first customer for his new transmission pan, Jeff offered to do an install for me, as he wanted to do some capacity measurements. So on my way south for the Woodburn IFO event, I stopped in at ER and we drained the new fluid out of my trans and did the install.Fit and finish is...
I can call my MIVEC experiment a resounding success.Last weekend at the Kent/Seattle IFO event I took first place in the FIS class with my MIVEC converted 1g.I ran the car through four rounds of eliminations:60' times were 1.5, 1.4, 1.4, and 1.4
All the runs were in the nines, 9.92...
Using a brass fitting in this location is not the best idea, I tried using a brass nipple and a regular 'T' to do this and after a month of engine bay vibrations, the nipple cracked and broke. Fortunately a new oil pump and set of bearings is all I lost over that adventure.
Big hammer fixed my MorosoI did bolt it to a spare block and use a long 1x2 piece of wood through the cylinder. In my case only #3 rod had clearance challenges.
I acquired one of Kevin's older cams for my setup, he recommended an fp5r exhaust cam (or something similar) to go with it. Seeing that FP stopped selling the fp5/11 cams for a DSM, The closest I could come up with on short notice was an S3 exhaust cam. I've been told this profile should work...
I have everything required to get my 1g converted. The head has been drilled/tapped/Cleaned and is ready to be bolted on.I have all of the mivec control valve bits and pieces sorted out and ready.I've performed some initial adjustments/measurements for valve to valve clearance and am...
An engine hoist, a bolt and chain from the top and these two little home-made tools make the job much easier:The angle bracket is used to hold the converter in place as you hoist the transmission up onto the block. cut the angle to just the right length and it also serves as a guide to tell...
This conversion would include retrofitting the evo9 cam position sensors on both intake and exhaust cams.unfortunately, not exactly a home garage project.
As a result of the Import Face Off event changing the FIS rules to only allow one power adder, I've been on the hunt for alternatives to my 100 shot staging spool up aid.Advancing intake cam timing was one of the suggested fixes and based on this, I've been pumping Kevin for MIVEC...
I've been reving my eagle rod 2.3 out to 88-8900rpm through the traps and wanted some piece of mind by going to the lightest/strongest rod possible. The H beam K1s were my only other option. If I remember right, the R&R rod that MAP sells is an 'H' beam rod.John-
For those looking for an ultimate duty rod, check this option out:I've been on the hunt for a good rod for my next 2.3 build. Given the clearance challenges of an aluminum rod stroker I was looking for a steel rod. I'd almost settled on a set of K1s when I found these R&Rs. Thank You Myles...
My ShiftBox Color setup includes a fully functional TCU that can be enabled with the flip of a toggle switch.again - this is 2cents from someone that has installed and tried every one of the mentioned options for an automatic DSM. Go with the ForcedFour ShiftBox.
Better yet, an ECMLink screenshot of a mid 9 second run, shift times are between .20 - .25 seconds. This is using the ShiftBox Color and a fully built transmission<iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YZ7qLvF2_0k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I've tried:using ecmlink to control full line pressure
a foreign muscle custom chip
the road surge boxBuy the ForcedFour.com Shift Box plus or color (I have the color)
Don't even bother with anything else!John-
I'm just now exploring options to get the car spooled without the N2o shot, Lots mor experimentation is in the plans.I already have a large B&M with a fan on it, I also have a second cooler purchased, Beefing up the trans cooling system is definately in the works.John-
No worries! The title of my thread should have read: Compression Ratio and Stall timesWhat I want to accomplish is to minimize the amoutnt of time it takes to get 'up on the converter'.The longer stall times generates way to much heat! During the early part of a competition it isn't...
Without Nitrous, I can get my setup to stall at 4200rpm in 12-15 seconds
With an N2o shot, I can get to my 4200rpm stall in 1 second.I'm interested in ways to get to my 4200 stall in less than 10 seconds without a Nitrous shot.So - given the cams and converter remain the same, will a...
ROFL was going there next when my Grandkids showed up. We got caught up in watching Kung Fu Panda 2 3D.AND that is the real question - does a higher compression engine make more torque while off boost?
No Way! Very Excellent news that they finally caved in and are willing to do a 1g converter again.I wonder how many of us have called them and asked for a 1g converter in the last year? Thanks for posting this news, and keep us updated.John-
I just ran across this while researching a Turbo Small Block Chevy project and thought I should share, dual pumps in the same housing, wired so they can be staged on one at a time or both run full time. Can be used submerged or inline. Applications up to a claimed 1800hp on an EFI system and e85...
I got a late start on Saturday the Spokane drive is 5+ hours and our local DSM crew was struggling to get Carissas 1g running well enough to make the drive. They finally got everything sorted and we left about 5:30pm on Saturday eveningCarissas car made it about 50-60 miles from home and...
ROFL It sure is deceiving - just looking at the pass you swear it is another 13 second run - until the board flashes the time. :thumb:I'm uploading my video to YouTube now, I'll have links in a bit. Thanks to the Entire ER crew for answering my unending stream of questions and selling me...
Best ET of the Day was a new personal best 9.6 @ 142I have lots of pictures from the day here: www.jd-consulting.com - /MyPictures/2012 Wood Family Album/2012-09-16 Import Face Off Spokane/2012-09-16 Import Face Off Spokane - Small/I'll post a rundown of the days runs and video...
Glad to hear nothing was hurt on your engine.I would also like to get a copy of any pictures or videos of my runs. It's kind of hard to get good pictures/vids from the drivers seat.Guess I'll have to invest in a go-pro.John-
try Z-Sport in Everett, they have a dynapac awd dyno and a couple of OG DSM'rs that work there with experiance in ECMLink and AEM.They should be able to get you up and running to pass emissions.John-
auto or 5-speed?always looking for auto transfer cases and 4bolt rear endsI also need the part of the drivers side motor mount that bolts to the engine (The piece that has the timing belt tensioner and idler bolted to it)
Yeah, my last outing didn't end so well :ohdamn:I bought a new set of solenoids and they seem to be working as expected. My old DELL needed a new LCD after its fall and is back to its old cantankerous self.Do It! Do It, Do It!
