Good ear! I had an issue with the shifter cable moving that run and it jumped from 1st to 3rd. That was overdrive I went into at the end you were hearing. There's definitely et left on the table from that mishap.
It's not as structural as you'd think, I had it cut out of my old chassis without a cage and the cage in my new car has the rear bar of the cage attach across the rear shock towers so it had to go regardless.
You can separate the airbag cover from the airbag and just use something to attach it...
You can get creative with a spot weld drill bit! That steel piece that runs from shock tower to shock tower can go. I'm not sure what the rules were for the dash, but removing the bottom section under the steering column clears up some weight. If you have a carbon hood with pins, just ditch the...
Your car looked good, man, moves out hard on the 14b. Glad to see some guys still sticking around with the small turbo game, it motivates me to get mine back out. It's a shame they x'ed the stock appearing turbo class, it was a good time seeing guys pushing the limits. I really thought that...
I think for those who are now on the fence about going because of a handful of GTRs, whom also have never been to shootout, maybe stay the hell home then since your going to get all boogerlipped about an event you've never even physically supported. I've been going for 8 years now and a couple...
I'm not trying to take away from what this car has accomplished, which is extremely impressive..but don't get too caught up in the weight factor. I know how people tend to skew weight numbers around, been going on since the beginning of dsms in drag racing. I knew curt Brown's old talon really...
Actually the quickest stock block 4g63 is 9.19. It's in a rwd BMW, but if you're saying quickest 4g63, this car isn't the quickest. Quickest and fastest stock block dsm, yes...4g63, no.
Any updates on this? Great job on the fab work btw, did you happen to weigh the 8.8 setup vs. the stock IRS ? I've read from the c-dub guys that it saves 100lbs, seems like quite a stretch but I suppose it's possible. That alone would be worth the swap for me, not to mention the added strength.
I've been tossing around the idea of throwing a 14b on and going for broke after the shootout in the fall to see how my new chassis/setup would do. I don't think my car will be quite light enough but who knows.
Thanks for the post David! I was so very pleseantly surprised to see the tear down results, I thought for sure it was a little beat up! Hopefully this real world evidence will help sway those who were on the fence of who to go to for an engine build. Like I said in my email notes, I couldn't be...
Damn..I need to venture on this forum more often! Subframe looks fantastic Paul, I've been looking into one of these for quite some time but obviously our options have been limited before. Can't wait to see weight figures and order one up! Ive been around curt brown to long and have become a...
I'll take function over style, I've heard of countless Jay Racing kits failing. I don't foresee the BR kit failing based on that design and costing me who knows what if it does fail. Sure it looks pretty though.#:thumb:
Not quite sure what seems to be the issue. Almost seemed like lifter pump up, but the log suggests the clutch switch was engaged. Could also be a misfire as well or something do to tire spin. I have a few solutions I'm going to try if I can make it to the track again before the shootout because...
Thanks a lot for the support guys! Its been a lot of time and hours spent getting the car where its at now. Definately no nitrous, just boost!Larry, yeah that's my buddy Eric with the srt4. He was telling me how quick your car was that night. I actually came over and talked to you at the...
Drove the talon up to a track rental friday at Thompson Raceway Park looking to finally get a few shakedown runs in since last year. Turned out to be a pretty decent day at the track. Good times with good friends and there even was some loud ass black cherry 1g there....hmmHere's the slip...
SSLaser is right, Curt's 10.59 is the Evo time. His black dsm was in the 10.4xx @ like 138 I believe. I'll talk to Curt today and find out exactly what it was to clear things up on that.Only a couple more monthes till the tracks open! Can't wait!
Yeah that may be the route I need to take as far as pumps go, being a 2nd gen its a real pain in the ass to go double pump in tank. I drive my car on the street alot and hate the noise of the external pumps. Thanks for the info on the numbers on the Jay Racing pump, I don't forsee me making over...
Yeah I plan on pushing it as far it it'll go this year, we'll see what happens. I got a few ideas I might try. Also the car had a few issues on the 10.62 pass and the next time out was definately making more power...but was out of pump, went lean, and bye bye headgasket haha. Should be a fun...
I'm Chris Ferruchie and yes it was a typo. I got the email that I was added and was like wtf?! I sent them an email saying it needed changed to a 10.62 so we'll see if they change the damn thing. Hopefully that 10.26 will be legit after this yeah haha.
Thanks guys! Can't wait to get it back out next year and try for some low 10s. My ultimate goal is to get a 9 out of the car on a 16g. I may have to go to a 68 at some point but I'm gonna give the evo III some serious hell! lol And yeah I try to at least have some fun doing it ROFL
Well after fighting some issues this summer with the car managing mostly low 11 second passes, I finally was able to click off some 10 second passes today.Headed to Thompson Raceway Park in Ohio today for the first runs after making the switch to SD.First pass of the day:
was missing...
I was thinking about running one on my car at some point in the future, but I would really like to use the new DEI titanium stuff as opposed to the old insulation-like blankets. I'm just not ready to bite the bullet on such a costly item if there are going to be major fitment issues.
No offense to the OP but if he's asking about twin turboing a dsm, I dont think he's quite ready for the complexity and fabrication thats involved in a compound setup. ROFLIn all seriousness, leave the twin turboing to the cars that are twined from the factory, with todays turbo technology...
Yeah I understand what you're saying, all I was saying is a well constructed fmic doesnt always mean its going to perform well. I just like to follow the fast guys when it comes to things like this haha, but that's not always going to be the best option for your average dsmer as a really good...
The difference can be enormous if you get the right core. Chinese junk intercoolers may look fancy and may have enough size for a decent pressure drop but to me the most important part of the interCOOLer is to cool the charged air. I will find out exactly how well these ebay style intercoolers...
I had a friend of mine use a clutchnet solid hub 6 puck disk. As far as I know it shifted ok and definately was able to hold some power. (Car made 750+ whp and 500+tq), The only thing he didn't like about it was it was a really grabby engagement, making downshifting really tough on the car...
Yeah, money, friends, and distance were the contributing factors to me going to the buschur event. Plus I still have a sour taste in my mouth about the whole east coast event, so it was pretty easy choice here. Hopefully you get a chance to come out this way next year, it truly is a badass...
I haven't been following all the threads all that closely lately but, I thought you were going to the REAL shootout? What happened that you ended up in Jersey?
First off I want to give a big thanks to Dave, Jarrod, and everyone at Buschur Racing for another amazing event this past weekend! This was my 4th shootout and definately seemed to be the biggest thus far. But my god was it a hot son of a bi***!My black 2g (carbon hood, doors, hatch) made...
One of my top favorite dsms ever, congrats Kiggly! I'll be sad when I don't get a chance to see the car this year at the shootout but good luck at E-town! :thumb:
Anyone planning on going to the buschur sport compact shootout in norwalk at the end of May? I just went to an Evo meet down at the waterfront last weekend, it would be nice to get a bunch of dsmers down there for a meet then maybe hit up Dave and Busters or somethin.
I know the Evo guys have meets at the waterfront and its a decent place to meet up other than like PRP. Maybe plan ahead a month or so, so people have a chance to see the thread and plan on it.
As far as injectors go I'd say at least 1000cc, although 1150s are said to have a better flow pattern. It would have dsmlink so go big on injectors and be done with it.
I don't think they have to worry about that, I do feel the cards have a bright future. Wisenhunt is going to be a great coach there and they don't have an Al Davis to screw stuff up. They just need to figure out there quarterback situation and they'll be golden.I wasn't talking all-time...
Stop Big ben, game over...Eli? Really? 1/3 of Rothlisbergers wins are comebacks, not to mention he doesn't have the recieving core quite like the giants had. They lost plax, eli shit his pants. Matt Ryan?? Who? Who's Matt Ryan? The guy who couldn't get past the first round? A rookie? I literally...
Not at all actually, he's been doing this game after game after game this year. 1/3 of his wins as a quarterback are come from behind wins, that's pretty astonishing in my book. The only other current quarterback out there that I believe compares is Tom Brady, but the whole video taping scandle...
