Would you say there's enough room to adjust the camber to 0 for a drag setup? I know what you mean about bottoming out axles, with a lot of camber and squat they'll definitely rumble and I assume that's from bottoming.
So I'm wondering if there are downsides to adjusting camber with LCA instead of the conventional uppers, on a drag car. #1 it pulls the wheel in at the bottom and doesn't push it out at the too near the sheet metal where a wide tyre can rub. #2 I don't have to deal with the rusted out eccentric...
Wondering if I need to add a relay to run a vacuum pump (audi) on my auto. Right now i have the 12v from brake switch going to pump and it sounds healthy, not blowing fuses. It's been like this for a while but I don't want to burn out the switch over time if it's not rated to handle that kinda load.
I don't think its speedo related as the noise is not speed related. Just RPM. I can be in neutral reving.I'll look at my grounds, i did redo the PTU ground when I had some ignition breakup, I didn't trust the old factory ground wire. I grounded it on the firewall. I know the cluster gets the...
Theres a weird buzzing from the cluster or behind it right around 2000rpm thats only there for about 100rpmSwitched clusters still does it. All electrical works, windows don't get as much juice as they should as they go up reallly slow and i cleaned the tracks. The power window relay and...
Yes you are correct its the center pin yellow/white wire on the right side connector. This is the vss output wire which is actually a old school reed switch and works by grounding the pin 4 times for every revolution of the cable. Problem with this it's a very weak signal that's not strong...
AN fittings are SAE/standard sizes not metric. After many hours/days of creative searching I found it! It's an adapter used in a transmission service machine I believe, listed for the KM transmissions but it works! Doesn't come with o-ring but its made for it, just swap from the plug you're...
Just a partial update, the threads are m8x1.25 with o-ring seal... I'm not having any luck finding this adapter to 1/8" npt so I can plug in my pressure sensor.
Thanks for taking the time to post those pics @1990TSIAWDTALONNow where is the darned "line pressure" tap so I can see what pressure it's pumping?(Kiggly talks about this line pressure) I think it would also be useful to see if it's gulping air on launches. Those diagrams dont mention the DA...
I'd like to monitor the pump pressure and clutch pressures by installing a pressure sensor in the test ports on the exterior of the trans, I didn't see anything about these ports in the service manuals I'm using, anyone know what size they are and what they do? Doesn't look like 1/8BSPT.. From...
I received my converter in 2.5 weeks very impressed!! I went with the #6 spragless on Jeffs advice as I need it to handle the power from a BW SXE-372 and I really don't want sprag issues.
I've had my transfer gears treated at liberty too, so far only a handfull of 15psi launches but nothings broken. I hope I can come back here a year from now and update with positive results!
Can a precision 1g converter be had for a 6 bolt/1g trans and yes I know there's a kit from Kiggly and JB Design but i don't want to convert to 2g trans as I have 2 1g trans and 1 is freshly built.I've ran into some threads from a long time ago where people have used precision converters...
Great writeup, I was about to do this then I realized, isn't the pressure/flow being restricted in 2 places now, as you're not touching the hole in the separator plate which is smaller than the hole you're using the set screw in. I think the separator plate hole should be enlarged to match the...
Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will leave it alone for now and keep hunting for a new or undamaged plate. If it turns out to be a noticable problem with shifting or holding a gear engaged/clutch pressure I will attempt the mentioned repairs. My research indicates that checkballs...
My lower valvebody separator plate has a worn/ovaled hole where the pic says "1/4"steel checkball". I can't find any to buy and all my spares also have worn holes.Does anyone know where to buy one(the small plate)? Or if there's a fix such as drilling it out larger to make it round again? What...
So why does 1st use different combination of clutches between the D and L position according to this chart? Is it even the same gear then? Looks like both use rear clutch but the one way clutch(sprag in gearset) gets switched for Low-Reverse clutch in L position.Does the low-reverse clutch...
Indeed, I found a lot of glitter in the front diff area and with it being an auto I'm taking it all out and cleaning all the passeges, cavities, valve body etc.I also found some nasty looking side and pinion gears inside the front diff...
Ring gear is out of an early 92 AWD auto, the left half of each tooth tip is machined different than the right half. Every single one. There's actually a step down about 0.05mm where it transitions the smoother to rougher serration. Any ideas if this is normal or a Mitsu f***up, why I'm...
Will 2001 Mustang Cobra wheels fit on a 1G with 245/45/17 tires on? I know the tire isn't an issue as I have them on right now but on a 6.5" rim.:coy:I don't know the offset on the cobra wheels but I know they're 114.3 and 8" wide.
It would be a 5spd and a '92 1G.Well so far I've pushed it to 19psi on my PTE SC6176/2.4L and it seems to be fine. Car ran 11.5 in this exact configuration except it had all diffs moving it. Torque steer is incredible let me tell you I need 2 lanes on the highway to keep it on the...
I got my AWD tranny with a welded center diff only hooked up to the front axles i'm just wondering if it can handle a decent amount of power like the FWD trannys? Is it prone to the common problem of the FWD tranny where the roll pin on the front diff cross shaft breaks? It seems to me that...
I got the same question, I'm not very keen on paying someone $80 to get this done when I just spent $1000 on a MIG welder for my garage. Anyone know any specifics about the welding process? What temp should it be brought up to? Can this be accomplished with a kitchen oven? Can the bearings...
Ok, so I've read a few topics on here about this but it keeps going back and forth wether 15" wheels fit the AWD brakes or not...can anyone chime in on this? Thanks.
Can anyone tell me how to test the harness side connector to the IAC on a 2G?How does the ECU actually control the stepper motor coils? Pulsewidth? What should I be seeing on the 4 wires going from the ECU to the IAC?I know the IAC is good and the ECU is good as I've tested them in a...
I believe the '90 tach signal comes from the stock coil, hence the 4pin connector vs 3 pin on the 91+. Therefore once that coilpack is eliminated the tach signal will have to be picked up from a different location. Does the 91+ tach get its signal from the ignitor/power transistor possibly...
All the grounds are nice and clean and corrosion/paint free. I relocated my battery to make room for the SMIM as the piping leading up to it interfered with the stock battery location. Thanks for the suggestions.
Well I ran 5 grounds from the engine to the frame/firewall/strut tower including one 6 gauge wire from the block to the rear grounding point for the battery. Seems to crank better but it still breaks up, although not as bad as before I think...definitely helped a bit. My voltage under load at...
Are you telling me a 38mm WG can properly manage boost(no spikes/creep) on a very well flowing 2.4L/SC6176 in 24F weather? If so there must be something wrong with my WG....I did notice the rubber seal inside it is kinked in one spot but I don't think its got a hole in it...
The creep is only part accredited to the great potential of the turbine flow, the sheer increase in HP demands a bigger WG agreed, but with a more restrictive exhaust path (ie. 2.5" vs 3" turbo back) flow through the WG will increase and boost control better achieved. So apply the same theory...
We shall see, just to give you an idea how well this setup flows through the turbine side, my tial 38mm plumbed from the collector on a tubular manifold and atmosphere dump creeps to 25psi in 4th when it should be holding 1bar(spring pressure)!! I was quite shocked to see this bad of a creep, on...
I've relocated my battery to the rear of the hatch and ran 2 gauge wires for the power wires, and 0 gauge for the short ground which is at the most 2' and it grounds right to the hatch floor through one of the bolts that was already there. Ever since I've done this I'm getting ignition breakup...
I've had to replace 2 seals recently because the first time I blew one out due to too much oil pressure on my new motor (85psi by 3500rpm) and the second time the actual pump bearing crapped out and it spit out the seal. If the pump stem has play in it this is most than likely your problem, it...
Well the new turbo is on, I confirmed it is the 6176 by measuring the wheels, and I love it so far. Spoolup is fantastic even with a tubular header and I'm seeing 15psi by 4300rpm in 3rd, and by 3800rpm in 5th! That's getting on it from 3000rpm and intake temps of 30F. I haven't had any luck...
