Bingo ! I was starting to think all the old school free power gainers we're being over looked. I totally agree with what both of these gentlemen above stated. When I got involved with DSM's 11 years ago, my friend had been involved for a year or two and was already aware of these mods. and was...
My friend and I recently dyno'd my car. The first time at the dyno we made 672. Car ran great on the dyno. Took it out 2 weeks later to do a little street pull and the CEL came on at 7k. We went about changing the tune since we believed it might be a little lean because of the temperature...
We just cracked the 700whp barrier today on stock ignition, stock TB, 2 liters, and E70 winter blend. Running BR8ESs gapped to .020, start/idle/part throttle is like stock with FIC 1650s and easytune on DSMlink V3 SD.
Gotta disagree with you on two points. The first being that the car was tuned "half decently". Since you tuned it, i'd have to say it was "well tuned". The second point being that anyone could take the same parts and run the same times easily. The bottom line is we both know the car was driven...
To optimize this turbo it only makes sense to run race gas, we're not talking about a green or an FP 3052 that thrives on pump gas. As far as weight reduction goes, my main concern was keeping my drive train in tact and chasing Shep's 20g record.I highly doubt that the 20g would flow 42-44...
I run a tdo6h 20g and i absolutely love it. Remember though...those proven tens were run by two "big time" guys. Not everybody is gonna run out and bolt this turbo on and run tens. I hear a lot of good things about the gt35r and was/am considering it as my next turbo. Good luck with your choice...
You got that right my friend !!! Tuning and driving are going to be essential keys to your success. Don't be to proud to accept some tuning help and get in as much seat time as you can. Best of luck to you.Dave Tdo6h 20g powered 7-bolt
I too have heard many positive things about the 3052. The numbers that interest me though are E.T. and mph. You may find it helpful to go onto DSM Times and look up some of these turbos. I have no idea about the 3076R or the 3071R. I can't help but believe they wouldn't be rather laggy on the...
I think you'll be fine with 850's. Interesting thing is i run a stock head and head gasket along with ARP's and have had no problems what-so-ever. My intake manifold is a first gen that's been extrude honed...nothing elaborate. My exhaust manifold is simply a ported 2nd gen., once again nothing...
Looks as if you've done a really nice job on your car. My friends help tuning my car and a lot of seat time were crucial to us getting the car to where it currently is. Continue to believe in yourself and your car and don't accept anything less than excellence. Keep me posted with your results...
If you don't put this set-up deep into the 11's something is very wrong or you're tuning way to conservatively. Don't under estimate your car or the strength of the 7-bolt. I'm on the verge of running 10's with a tdo6h 20g powered 7-bolt. The last time out we ran 11.03 @ 126.79 before grenading...
Do not give up on this turbo. I will hunt you down and strangle you !! j/k LOL! I'm on the verge of running 10's on a td06h 20g. Proper tuning and seat time WILL get you where you want to be. Best of luck !!Dave :talon:
A poor launch can ruin an otherwise decent run. The other thing a lot of people don't pay enough attention to is the 1-2 shift. We video tape all our passes and review them later. This is something to consider depending on how serious you are.The bottom line is it takes some practice to nail...
Big 16g= 36 lbs./min.Evo.III 16g= 42 lbs./min.20g= 44lbs./min.DaveP.S.- Go to DSMtimes.org...you'll see that a numberof cars have gone high 11's and 12.0's on your turbo
You might want to check the flow numbers on a big 16g versus a 20g. I don't think you're going to find the gains are worth the money. Robert at Forced Performance did a conversion for me years ago. I loved the 5h20g because of it's mad spooling ability. Just changed over to the 6h20g to get me...
22 psi with a 14b on a 90+ degree day with no supporting mods. You're just blowing hot air at this point. Be careful or you might be tearing this bad boy down sooner than you planned. I wasted my head gasket pulling a stunt like this.Dave
From what i've heard the 50 trim is a better pump gas turbo. I've run a tdo5h20g for the past 5 years and i love it. I have a pretty extensive list of mods and a light car. My best pass to date on this set-up is 11.03 @ 126.79 with a 1.60 60 ft. at Atco raceway. I recently sold the turbo to a...
Good to see the die-hard 20g crowd still exists !! I'm going to be running mine at least one more season with a few additional mods to see just how far the car can be pushed. Still need to pull some more weight out of the car and try to improve on my driving. Good luck guys...see you out there...
I tend to agree with you that a 3065 should, without a doubt, put the lil old 20g to shame.
Point is, so should a lot of other cars on DSM times with E.T.s. similar to mine. Problem is, we all know that what "should be" on paper doesn't always make it to the track. I agree 100% that properly...
Has anyone gone from the stock driveshaft to the 1 piece DSS aluminum ? If so...any performance gains noted or is drivetrain longevity the main advantage ?Thanks
Just wanted to give props to the so-called "weak 7-bolts" in some of our cars.I purchased a 93 TSI AWD 5 years back with 82,000 miles on it. Original owner changed the oil every 3,000 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic. I've done the same since I bought the car. Car is heavily modded and has dozens of...
I used to run race gas regularly on the street until I started to have to pull and clean my o2 sensor on a regular basis. At that point I felt it was no longer worth it. That , and the rediculous price I was paying ! I found a place close to home that sells VP MS103. It's an unleaded gas with a...
I'm a little concerned right about now. This is one of the turbos I've been considering. I'm seeing these numbers and am starting to wonder if I'll go slower with this turbo. Currently running a 20g and have gone 11.05 @ 122.93. I'm a firm believer in properly matching components, tuning to the...
It's not like a broken belt. When the belt breaks, you're working against the fluid pressure to turn the car. With the pump out, the rack is empty and it works like a manual rack, with the exception of the faster ratio which makes it feel harder.
 Do you realize how much pressure is in that line? if you want to cut and lengthen it, I'd suggest having a longer tube welded on. Or just lose the AC, it's only slowing ya down anyway!
In a word - yes. My friend's B16G car with 264s made 313whp on pump gas @19psi and was at like 340ish on C16 when his oil filter backed off and he let off, would've easily made 375. Just get a pair of FP1s for $450 a set.
I don't understand why anyone would bother with an 05 comp. housing. It's way small for the wheel. As for turbine wheels, I'd skip the 06 and go right to the 06H. This is what Turbotrix sells as the "Street/Strip" turbo (it also uses the 3" inlet comp. housing). It spools like a B16G and hits...
Couldn't tell ya since I've never had it dynoed. This was on a 7 bolt, internally gated, 264/272s, street FMIC, 550s, 2900# race weight. Just got done installing a water/air IC and 780s, will be hitting the dyno to get it tuned before I run again, I'll be sure to post the info.
Well, according to dsmtimes.org I've got the fastest currently running 20g car and I'm using the TD05H turbine wheel. I highly doubt I'd pick up 100hp by going to the 06 or even 06H!
How does someone get involved with a sponsorship program if they didn't run events last year ?? Been racing a year and a half. I'm a 43 year old homeowner thats ready to get serious yet can't do it all on my own. My car is a 93 TSI AWD thats run 11.05 @ 122.93 with a 1.57 60 ft.. Stock 7-bolt...
It sounds like you're way rich. I'm running 103 unleaded on 550s with the 20g, 36psi fuel pressure, 24-26psi boost, EGTs around 900c and no problems on a stock 7 bolt. Are you on stock cams? If so, you've got plenty of injector, especially for 18psi on 100 octane. Try lowering your fuel...
you'll need the 90 style oil filter housing, which means taking off the timing belt and probably replacing the end case gasket (and doing bal. elim) while you're in there.
if coolant were to leak (18psi +/-), don't you think it's gonna leak with positive manifold pressure (15-30+ psi)?? It's an insulator, not a gasket. It's poor marketing to call it a gasket. Look at a phenolic spacer from just about any other company (like the ones they use on 5.0 Mustangs). They...
I'm running a TD05H-20g from FP, spools fast (almost too fast) and has gone 11.05 & 123.6 mph with 264/272s. The car weighs 2900 w/driver. I've considered going to a TD06H, but for what it'd cost I could just get a bigger turbo so for now the plan is to do the 272 intake cam and a few little...
I understand what you're saying, but put yourself in my position. Would you consider the results of someone with tuning issues and a slipping clutch to but useful information in deciding whether the cams are a worthwhile choice?
No offense, but 4 pages of posts and the best feedback from actual FP2 owners is from a guy with a 50 trim that runs 12.7 @ 111????? Where's some real data from fast cars that actually need cams like FP2s? Or better yet, has anyone swapped from HK$ 272s to FP2s and done back to back dyno pulls...
boost is around 26-27psi, never dynoed the car. I'm putting a wideband in soon and plan on some dyno tuning for the new injectors before I hit the track again.
I've never run it on pump gas, but on 105 unleaded it traps the same as C12 or C16. The injector dutys are pegged, to say the least. I've got 780s going in before I run again, along with a few other tricks. Hopefully I can see 10s on this turbo. It's been good to me and I'm not ready to give up...
