That is how I had my SBR MBC hooked up for about a year before I sold my 2g. Never had a problem but have heard the BOV line was not very good for referencing pressure.PS. Good choice on the Dejon... my SBR's adjustment bolt feel out along with the ball and spring and snapped a rod, hince...
If you had clogged filter or injectors your car would run LEAN causing knock and timing to be pulled. This would give you sputter. And yea... it's not normal for your ECU to make ANY noises.
Ok here's my take on this gas theory of travel. Hot gases expand. It's fact. If the gas is excited and expanding it is looking for the easiest way to get out. Hince the effect porting the wastegast opening has on preventing boost creep.
This is information GVR4 passed on to me. Here is my ideas. The ecu has no knock sensor so it can not "see" detonation correct? If it can not see detonation it wants to prevent it even if there is none. It goes into a safe mode pulling timing to lower cylinder pressure and reduce...
Yea I was planning on using my dsmlink to turn it to 1k but then it doesn't lope like you would like :P So I'm settling for 800rpm and just take my chances and have that mean thumping. Gonna use BC spring/retainer as ordering BC 280's.
A girl has them! I'm in love... But I heard them in a EVO and idle is rouge but manageable. How often does it stall out of her? What spring/retainer combo does she use?
I do not think having the back O2 will do that. I think it is a back-up to the front O2.Do a boost leak test. That is the baseline test. Most common issue to running rich and bogging.
If he says he doesn't want to go that route we shouldn't suggest him go that route. BTW I rather a 16g over a "50 trim" any day.I agree a T28 will fit the easiest but I have a couple issues with it.I never liked the amount of top end power they provide. Always thought the 16g...
I would go with a small 16g. Keep at psi around 15 and you'll be amazed how much stronger it pulls than the T25. I swiched from a T25 at 15psi to 14b on 15 psi and it blew me away. Also you might get a cool sound as a perk such as a more audible spool.
I know that it hurts flow and whatnot and that wasn't the reason for posting this topic. I simply wanted to find out if anybody knew an ebay core identical to the SBR 1g one. The one you posted looks to me like it would not work on the 1g like I plan. I had that one on my old 2g.
I just picked up a 1g AWD that I will be going goodwill on. I really want the short short piping of the SBR kit but price is an issue as this is a budget build. Any cheap ebay cores that have a rear facing in/out like the SBR core? Would it hurt flow too much to get a standard side exit I/C...
I love the core but really really want a SBR style short route with blow through for my new 1g. If there a difference between this core and the other 60 dollar cores you see on ebay? It's an all drag car with no comforts so space is plentiful. Otherwise nice write-up and look forward to using...
If it doesn't say it comes with it then I wouldn't expect it too. I have never seen a shop sell it together. Go to dsmtuners sponsers and find a shop that sells the harness and order it. You'll be so happy you did.EDIT: I bought my old one from extremepsi and had great luck with them...
My T25 never sceamed. But once that 14b got thrown on oh my I sounded like a jet. Check for shaft play. If it building and holding fine don't worry about it unless she has a problem with it.
You are mistaken 2g's come around 9-10 psi stock. Most people can run 15 with no problem but I was knocking horribly so put the stock BCS back on. I'll try the MBC again.
There is a tiny tiny tiny one by TB I couldn't find. I know there should be none but this car is about to be sold. I just want to raise the boost to around 12 or 13 instead of this pathetic 9 right now. Should the MBC be able to drop below 15?
Ok I just bought a new crew cab Z71 so the DSM got to go. I had the MBC set at 15-16 psi on my 14b and it bogged and stuttered. I was too lazy to really do to much work to it after I got my truck. Now that the car has to sell I finally got around to doing some work. For some reason my MBC...
I wouldn't advise this seeing that it would hurt oil flow to the turbo which is not at all good. And if the filter clogged up then you would burn the turbo up in a heartbeat.
pte injectors are good but I would recomend FIC injectors. They are quality. I would go with a 57 trim for your fwd because of the mix between top-end and spool. I have had experience with that style turbo and they are a blast. You cant go wrong with any of the turbos listed so far!
Ok my stock engine in my 1997 gst blew. I just got done swapping in a stock 1999 gst engine. As you know they moved the CAS and changed the plugs between these two years. Luckly I had the 1999 wiring harness so I spliced the new plug on my 1997 harness and ran it to the new CamAS right next...
Having a shop put a piece of 3 inch tubing in place of the cat will not drive up the cost much at all. What type of tubing are they quoting you for? Aluminized will be fine but go Stanless Steel if you can. My friend just got his done for 250 dollars.
Atleast you have BWW every thursday in BR. We got like little N/A CRX's everywhere. Only meets I go to are the first Saturday of every month there is a muscle car show. And then very wednesday if I not at the strip then I in NO with the bike.
Ok I'm gonna check in for the Northshore DSM's. My new engine won't fire off right now so I'm working those timing bugs out. Stupid 1999 engines. With their cam sensors all over the place. I'm a regular at the Gulfport Dragway on wednesday nights if anybody goes out there.
Ok this is my worst fear with this new engine. It is out of a "1999 Eclipse". This is what he said and he said it ran when pulled. I found out it had an automatic on it from the bearing when I went to put on my ACT flywheel. It is in my 1997 GST 5 speed right now. I lined all the timing...
Sounds like a dead battery or startor but you said you checked those. Maybe when tranny blew the flex plate was damaged and not allowing it to spin. Really the only way to tell is pull the tranny (which you will have to do anyways.) Why do you want to start a car wit ha blown tranny anyways?
VGT is know as a Variable Geometery Turbocharger. Gale Banks uses them on all of his diesel engines. I don't know much about them and don't really care to research right now. Trucks taught me this hehe. Hurray for Stacey!
I deff. recomend doing the 14b swap if you are short on cash. I did mine for alittle under 200 dollars. It pulls so much harder! It's a mod for the person who doesn't want a extremely modded car but could use alittle more for those always pesky GT's and LT1's. I might be returning my car to...
I found my 14b for my swap in these classifieds. It came with 1g water lines and 1g oil return line. All I needed was a oil feed line that I got from DSMotorsports. The turbo also came with the 1g j-pipes. I just tossed my Greddy lower I/C pipe and put the stock hose on that fit fine. Make...
Yea I feel that there is nothing wrong with the SBR MBC just the fact that I only fingered tightened the jam nut. If you want to send me a Halman do it and I'll use it haha. There is a complete 7 bolt on ebay in Mississippi for 510 right now. Might go pick it up in a day or two.
I had thought about that. I have a set of 1g big rods laying around. I am going to pick up a new truck next week I hope so the DSM habit might have to go....... FOR NOW! Once I move up to Baton Rouge I plan on tracking a 1g AWD. I just wanna get a new 7 bolt in and sell it. The ball is...
Ok my boost gauge goes up to 30 psi then goes alittle more then pegs. It was pegged. It hit fuel cut about 3 times real real fast and blew before I could shut it down. How can you call bs when I'm holding the rod cap all bent and scraped up in my hands. I pulled it from one of the 3 holes in...
Well I just got home from the Gulfporty Dragway where my engine bottom end took a dump. The block is shattered in 3 places with pieces of rods stuck into everything imaginable. The cause of this? The ball/spring adjustment bolt vibrated out of my SBR MBC. This allowed to boost to spring up...
It all depends what you want to do with the car. You will need a clutch very soon. I really like the SBR G50 but since you FWD you might wanna look into their 57 trim also. The G50 is a great turbo that can put down tons of power with great spool-up. And its very decently priced.
