I just installed my FMIC a few days ago and it ran just fine.....until now. For the past couple of days my lower intercooler pipe keeps blowing off, even when I'm only pushing 2-3 psi. I'm starting to think that the coupling is too big even though it said it was for 2" piping. BTW my pipes...
A friend of mine had offered to sell me his Starion FMIC (it's in very good shape) and before I bought it I was just wondering if they flow well on 4G63's. Of course I will have custom piping made from a local shop in town.
It will bolt on to your MAF as we share the same mass air sensors. The only thing I'm not sure of is if you'll have enough space. I'm sure you'll be fine though, you should have enought space.-Cam
Mater Power turbo's are korean knockoffs. I have seen first hand what happens with these cheaply made xs power, stone mtn racing, ebay shit turbos. They shit out within a few thousand miles or their compressor housings split down the middle.Commonly used DSM turbo outfitters...
Boostedinaz is correct. Adding back pressure is just going to cripple you. Go the tried and true way to correct boost creep. Either port the hell out of your O2 housing, get a larger wastegate flapper, or just do the easy thing: get an external dump housing!! If you're still worried I...
You can purchase Denatured Alcohol from places like Home Depot. Yeah the more out west you get, generally, the octane goes down. I'm in Missouri and we used to have 96 back in the day but now it's getting harder and harder to find 93. Theres pretty much only one chain that every location has...
I like my stealth way more than my old 1st gen talon. They're pretty similar in a lot of ways. It's kinda like having a DSM with extra 2 cylinders and an extra turbo. They're also a lot more luxurious, better looking, and a bit more rare. However they have about the same breakablity factor...
Pretty much any of the replies can be summed up into about 10 choices. I'm sure there are others that I've never heard of though.1. Buschur Exhaust
2. RNR Exhaust
3. Apexi N1
4. ATR Exhaust
5. Thermal R&D
6. Greddy/Trust
7. RSR
8. HKS
9. Certified Muffler
10. Or there's alway the...
This is a major mistake that many people make when tuning. Drowning out knock with fuel is not the answer. Turn the boost down. It's better to run less boost and have a good air/fuel mixture than to run a lot of boost and have a shitty air/fuel mixture. Upgrade your fuel system to cooperate...
Yeah I remember seeing a post about a second gen doing this and I thought it was a pretty smart way of keeping good driveability. I believe what he did was take the stock dump tube to a Home Depot or Lowe's or somethin' like that and asked for a piece of pipe that looked similar. Then just...
Tort's talon probabaly the sickest 7 bolt I know of. 7 bolt, internal gate 20g, runnin' 11 seconds dead. Hell of a car. Don't take my word for it though.....http://homepage.mac.com/stevestrzempek/PhotoAlbum19.html <----------- :thumb:
Funny you should mention that...cuz thats exactly what I ran on my first gen talon. What I did was take the cat off and hollow it out with a black and decker drill with a butterfly bit, then just take a 2.5", 3.0" pipe whatever and put some oil on it and push it through the cat. It won't just...
The thing about SS Autochrome and XS Power and other sister companies like them is it's kind of a 50/50 thing. There's an RX-7 in town that runs damn good and he runs an SS Autochrome turbo and manifold. However on another forum, I saw an SS Autochrome turbo that split right down the center of...
Hmmmm.....well the day before I would probably grab a bottle of hot sauce and down the whole thing. That should throw a wrench or two in the mix.
Haha...found this old thread while I was looking through my total posts. Yeah I sold it cuz it had way too many problems and I wanted to try something new. Damn I love it. However the turbos were old and I blew em' about 2 weeks after I had the damn thing. Oh well It's under the knife right...
It all depends on what you're planning on doing in the future. Overall a sheetmetal intake manifold would flow the best. However not a lot of people have 700-900 bucks to spend on a magnus or a bj's. Straightline Specialties told me that the stock 1g manifold severly restricts flow after...
Well today I went to a friend's house who has the newer super sequential on his gsx. We took off his BOV and we put mine in the flange and man I gotta say I like this blow off valve is damn nice. Sounds great and holds boost well. I recommend this to a lot of people who are on a budget and...
So I bought this older style HKS blow off valve and I just wondered a few things. One is: Does it use the same style flange as the new super sequential? Two is: What is that second nipple on the back of it. Where do I route the black one to?Three is: Does anyone know how its going...
Not neccesarily. I own a Stealth TT and most of the 3/S community just goes with a 3" exhaust system and they're just fine. It's not entirely about displacement, it's about how much cfm of exhaust the motor puts out. It'd kinda be overkill for your average DSM. I only know of one DSM that...
You can use ball bearings off a skateboard or set of roller blades and just use a couple washers and a new cotter pin. However, these are only for the underhood bushings, the shifter bushings you should probably just buy.
Be absolutely sure that one end is sent to the wastegate actuator and the other end is tee'd into the blow off valve hose. And loosen the nut all the way out before you take it out again. Then go from there.
Hmm yeah I guess it is just too advanced for us cavemen. There is a reason why the brand new model of Profec, the type S, doesn't have the fuzzy logic.....cuz it's trash. If I were you, I would simply buy a hallman, joe p., or similar and keep it simple, keep it functional. Thats just me though.
It's a very common thing for DSM owners to have custom exhaust made. After all it's just piping. Why pay many hundreds of dollars just to have a name brandished on it. Check in at a local shop and many times they are able to make custom exhaust in house.
:dsm:
The reason why it's flashing red and beepin' at ya is because it's boost spiking. I had the exact same problem on my 1G. You pretty much can't tune it out. I even called Greddy multiple times and they said they had similar reports from others and thats why they released the type S without the...
Stock 1G fuel pressure is 38 psi so if you're planning on running heavy cams and 660's anyway then I don't think 2 psi of fuel pressure is going to make a difference.
You definetly don't need a Tial BOV if you're still runnin' the stocky 14b. A 50.5 mm release valve is for the big boys with the big boost. Not only that but they vent to the atmosphere so you would have to have either a GM MAS setup or a VPC or somethin' like that.
Inadvertently I made my first gen BOV louder by removing the silencer behind the MAF sensor. You could easily hear it driving down the road. Don't vent the BOV incorrectly. Thats a big no no in the DSM community. Remember man the main purpose of a BOV is not to be all super cool street racer...
I just recently purchased an old school apexi afc with the 5 dials. However it didn't come with an instruction manual of what to put the settings on the back at. i.e car select and stuff. I was just wondering what I would have to set those at for a first gen with a GM maf sensor. Thanks to...
i am working on a 7-89 Eagal Talon. the problem is the car dies after 45 seconds and will not restart for about 4 hours. sometimes it will not restart. We have checked and the car is still getting fuel but no spark... any ideas? im lost. I thought at first the ignition module may have gone bad...
Well I did it. I sold my talon. I never thought that I would but whenever the insurance company called and said that I had a lump sum on the way and my talon was in pieces I just decided to try somthin' a little different. I went ahead and bought a 92 Stealth RT/TT. I had to drive all day...
There was a 4 week back order on mine but it was pretty worth it. The overall quality was very nice though it did require a little bit or fuel rail trimming.

Thanks you guys for your replies. In response, I don't know if another 300 bucks for 1% increments is right for me. Lets keep this discussion goin' eh?:talon:
Pretty much just what the title says. I was just needed to know whether a my datalogger and a MAFT setup would be enough to properly tune. Or whether I need to go ahead and get an SAFC II as well. I had heard that with the translator you can tune in 5% increments and with an SAFC you can...
The plenum doesn't even taper down. It doesn't have velocity stacks. I say no go. If you're looking for a pretty good sheet metal intake manifold though you should check out jmfabrications.com.
The only problem that I see is where to find the Center cartridge and compressor cover to complete the turbo. I haven't seen any websites where you can buy just those two things.:talon:
