I guess I misspoke.....sort of. When I said "already did" I meant I already did contact the seller. Unfortunetly, I haven't got a response."It's your car, but please for the love of God, save this thing. Keep it mint. Not even for the DSM name, but for Emerson Fittipaldi's name sake."I...
Wow, 63 times?
I'll be 45 next month which I'm sure is well over the average age of a DSM'er on here and I've owned at least one Talon since 1991 but I cannot say 63 times, maybe....hmmmmnnnnn....damn tinted window tickets....hmmmnnn.....50 times
Wow OMG
I purchased mine new back in 1991 and didn't pay that much. If I remember correctly, the sticker was $19,025 but I talked them down to $17,200. Ya got me by $800 but thinking no one here purchased their DSM with as few miles as mine had.
Broken timing belt usually means piston and valves kissing, how is it possible to fix everything for $250 WTFYou already answered your question "I love my car" Congrats :thumb:
I've been told that putting dryer sheets (like Snuggle or Downy) keeps the mice away. That's what I did when I used to winter store my Talon at a friends farm building, I had no mice problems. I put about 6 sheets inside the car and one on each tire.
You can buy a sheet that goes on the oil filter. The plug will tell you if you still have metal dust without dropping the pan again.magnetic oil drain plug - BuyCheapr.comGood choice on Mobil 1, I've used it in my Talon since it was new :thumb:
I've seen spray cans that claim it gets rid of belt squeal at auto parts stores. Never used it so I don't know how good of a job it does. To me that's a bandaid to a bigger problem though. Are the belt pullies aligned?
Be sure and ask him the last time the timing belt componets have been changed. Same with all fluids. How much tread on the tires? Interior condition? ETC? Might be worth $4200 but like most sellers, he'll take less. Best wishes :)
WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTFSmack the so-called friend in the head :banghead:I have friends that just want to drive my car. I tell them no and they say it's just a car. I hate that, alot of us have a "connection" to our cars.I...
2.4 in the trans. Or a general rule is to fill it up until it's coming out of the top.
Transfer case is 0.5 qrts.
The differential is 0.9 qrts.I suggest Red Line fluids
After looking at this I'm about in tears, I REALLY miss my white 92 TsiAWD :(As for the $5500 asking price on the thread starter car, I'll be the oddball and say that isn't too far out-of-line. I'm sure he is asking more than what he'd actually take as most sellers do. Since he is THE DSM...
ROFL but...I just did a KBB value for a WA TsiAWD.....guess what? SAME PRICESThey were all made in Ill in the same factory. Personally, I like the looks of Talons in 1st Gen and Eclipses in 2nd Gen.
Really? I always thought 400 HP was about the max for stock. I'm hoping a EVO III 16G along with many more mods will get me at least 350HP.
So, reading this thread 30 PSI is safe? Will an EVO III 16G do that?
I would guess very little, so little that it's not worth your (or friends) time to do it. If you don't have a cat and a loud exhaust, your just asking for a ticket since it is illegal in all states to remove a cat. That being said, I took the cat out of my 92 TsiAWD (full 3" exhaust) and...
I was thinking the same exact thing.
Satan ripped out my aftermarket alarm system saying it was frying ECUs. Not sure I buy into that one and now have no alarm or cruise control :toobad:
I did a KKB on a 97 TsiAWD with 113,000 miles and I guessed 5-speed. The private party price is $4000 in fair condition and $4500 in good condition. Both of those conditions assume the car is in reasonable running condition. Since you need to replace the windsheild and power steering pump...
I too am in the market for gauges. To those who have gauges already. Are any of them made in America? The only one I have (not installed) is the AEM wideband. It was designed and assembled in the USA :) from components made in Germany and China :toobad: I'm thinking about buying a AEM...
I just read in Autoweek that BMW is working on using lasers as headlights.Headlamp technology is rapidly advancing, and as LED lights become commonplace, many wonder what's next.
BMW suggests lasers, which could offer new safety and function.
Compared with today's LED headlamps, BMW's...
Considering the hubs are flat, rotors are flat, and the center of the wheels are flat....no, they cannot warp. Too much torque on the lugnuts can strip threads or worse, crack the rims, espically if they are cast aluminum. Always use a torque wrench. :thumb:
I agree.
Sorry to hear about your flat spots. I'm guessing that the longer you use the tires, the vibrations will be less noticable. You can get tires shaved but I would recommend not doing that because of cost
I'm really surprised on how many members run E85.
I use the 10% ethanol (89 octane) in my Expedition since it's cheaper than the regular gas (87 octane). Use 91 octane for the cars.38 mpg in a 1991 Talon TsiAWD? I could rip off a 1000 pounds from my Talon and I would still not get that...
That's awesome looking, too bad there isn't one for a 1st Gen :(I plan on using the AEM truboost and AEM wideband and thinking about putting them in the center air vent. From allot of research on the truboost, I couldn't find a single negative review on it. :)
Hi Mike, welcome to the Forum :)I would think a clogged fuel filter would give you problems all the time and not just at 75 mph, but changing it out is cheap, might as well start there. Good luck :thumb:
They do:california cops crushing illegal street racing cars - YouTube
California employs new tactics to crush illegal street racingWhat a waste :(, they should resell them and put the money towards the national debt. :aha:
Yeah, that would be bad. :notgood:Thanks for digging up this old thread and all the reviews, looks like I'll be ordering two book, this one and the Mitsi one :thumb:
Good question, did the OP do a write up? I think he should sell a kit with detailed instuctions, seems like there is plenty of interest in the set-up to make it worthwhile. I'd buy one :thumb:
I was on leave after coming home from the Middle East (Desert Storm). I purchased my new 1991 Eagle Talon TsiAWD in Iowa and I was heading to Florida (my new duty station, Air Force). When I got to Alabama I was soooo tired I pulled into a rest stop to catch some zzzzs. It wasn't five...
I just did a quick KKB on it and came up with $4500 for a 99 with 140K in very good condition (in-other-words, running good). That seems low to me :confused:Unfortunately, all the $ you spent on upgrades does not add much to that $4500 price, especially since it won't start.I don't...
I don't think anybody is laughing at you, we just know 600 whp is ALLOT. Sure, it's possible and I'm sure there are members on this forum who do have 600+ whp DSM. We are just saying it won't be easy, espically reliable.
600HP WTF That a ton of money to achieve that high of HP. Maybe the Armed Forces is paying allot more now than when I served :confused:Is that possible with a DSM? ROFLAgain, best wishes to ya, be safe over there :)
