The reason the vortex generators work ok with the Evo is because of the steep rake in the rear window with a short decklid. Because the the DSM decklid is less steep and longer I don't think vortex generators would do much since they aren't supplyin the rear section with more air, its just...
Here is a quick vid of me at my last auto-x. I took 5th overall. The car that won was a SE 04 ZO6, 2nd went to a Superperformance Cobra, 3rd to the ZO6 with a different driver, 4th to Brian in his Civic (now with power steering). I was the only car in the top 5 that had to change gears. Damn...
i can probably work that out for ya keith.
i'm thinkin the evo might be put for sale when i get back. thinkin bout gettin a ivzero, thanks the the props. straight pipes on 4g63's!
thats some top end!
11.8@123 tells me you are missing something mid track. shifting slow or spinning mid way. either way, that car is nasty, thats awesome!!!
Coming up over that hill, we are probably doin about 90-95mph, so that was a quick reaction on the other Evo's part. I love how smoothed it looked when he dodged it.Oh, I found out what my brake problems are. Dumb me had race pads in the rear with sport pads up front, DOH!!!! Also I have...
After much naggin and askin by fellow dsmer's and evoer's I finally have a vid of me at LimerockThe vid is about six and a half minutes long. Its taken from the inside of the black evo. Turns out I lost my exhaust tip at the track, oops. Here's the vid...
ahhh, very well then. I like those wheels.
I like how stable your car looks from the vids. You have very little body roll and the car turns in nicely. What rear sway bar are you running?
Dude go do it! You run mid 11s and have to question whether you should enter a street radial race? I'm not trying to be an a$$, but damn man, you know the answer. But if you are comign on here to look for support, there is no better place to do so.
Check the rules, I know some classes and...
Sounds like you guys had a good weekend Phil. Glad to see that car back out there and bein tossed around.Greg, I'm sorry to hear about that. Thats a tough thing right there. I was at Busch North Race at Limerock a few years ago and a volunteer pit crew worker was killed by flying debris...
Nice run man and great pics!! I'm really the only one of all my friends that auto-x. They can't seem to get into it. But its an absolute blast, so much better than drag racing. I find it more addictive than drag racing.
Keep at man! And congrats on PAX!
Thanks Kyle, thats what I'm hoping for. Saving money and bidding my time right now. Suspension will wait till next year when I get back.
As far as the brakes go, I have atleast one warped rotor. I've already had them turned when I replaced my pads about 6mos ago. I'm looking to buy a...
Oh i'm having my battles with the state of VA right now.
I racked up ticket after ticket with my bike
First i got pinched for 70 in a 55, i was targeted cause I had cars PASSING ME when I was pulled over. He also got me for no proof of insurance (at home) and no county sticker. I bought the...
mavisky your car looks awesomegreg, i love the old style man. i'm surprised i dont' see rainbows and peace symbols on it. hahahaScott, I hope to hear about your weekend running the car. thats an awesome 'find'-Liam
There is absolutely no better way to wake up than to the smell of open exhausts and the smell of race gas. Thats what woke me up Sunday morning April 2nd, my most recent BRR-SCCA auto-x. Since the race was about 4hrs away, I decided I would drive down the night before and throw up my tent to...
Apparently the Maserati didn't listen to instructions very well. He crested the uphill turn with his wheel still turned. The tires were cold, and he broke traction. The car broke lose and he went for a long slide into the tire wall.
mavisky, we were not runnign the chicane. thats reserved for the Daytona Protype cars and the GT cars.Greg, the brake issue will be resolved before I'm back on track, until then, I'll have to go easy on the street with her. I try writing so I can 'capture' the audiences attention to the...

Wow, this hard news so early in the season for you Greg.
Atleast you have time now though to pull it and get it rebuilt.
Mitch and his company sound like great people.
Good luck with everything. I look forward to another update.Liam
It all depends on whats in your region. The BRR region is pretty lucky cause we have some big lots. The Wash. DC region has FED EX field which is HUGE. They are able to set up courses where the Evo's grab 4th gear and still run 60+seconds. Remember the gearing in the Evo is shorter than...
Greg
Great write up! You had a lot going against you on your first race weekend....new engine, new suspension, rain tires, rain, etc.... but you came out in one piece AND you were able to make points. Very nicely done!!
I can only imagine the rush it must be to barrel down the straightaway...
SCCA is the largest car club in america. They hold races everywhere every weekend.
Their website is www.scca.org. Go there and find the region you are in.
I became a member again last week after a 5yr hiatus.
Costs for different events vary. In my region, if you preregister and a memeber...
I had another BRR SCCA event today. After yesterdays meet and hangout I was a little tired.
I woke up at 630am giving myself about another hours worth of sleep.
I'm accompanied by Babyface and Dan(burg) down to the auto-x.
We head out at exactly 730am. We cruise over on 66 then head down...
Greg
You never cease to amaze me with the time and effort you put into your racing. I know how hard this can be on the pockets and your mind as I went through last season with no car. I blew it up at the very first race.
I really look forward to reading your diaries again this year. They...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------My buddy Jerry called middle of last week and told me he was going to Lynchburg with his wife and subsequently would be participating in Blue Ridge Racing SCCA auto-x. I decided to sign up. I had already ordered...

being the internet you can't read sarcasm. I didn't mean to come off that way as not caring or being heartless. I think its horrible he lost his car...whether its a 3g, 2g or anything else
