It's a much better feeling to run down and speed by your opponent at the track then it is to get a great launch and try to get to the end before the guy beside you catches up.Then there's the highway too
It seems I may have left a wrong impression in the posts above or on my MAF webpages so I'm going to clarify. I do not sell hacked MAFs or kits anymore.
The first rule that anyone will tell you about these cars is get a boost gauge prior to modifying the boost at all. There's a reason. How did you check the wires?Check very carefully for any open vacuum lines.Check that your timing belt didn't skip a tooth.
It's just rebuttle to the topic title and some of the posts made earlier.I don't have much more to say on your problem until we get more info (ie you install that boost gauge).Maybe check that your timing belt didn't just happen to skip a tooth at the same time as pure coincidence.
But back to the original post... those problems were not caused by removing the honeycomb. Please install the boost gauge and let us no what it's reading at wot.Is the car stuttering at all? What was that gasket thing you were talkinga bout that was the same size as the thermostat...
"So my finally diagnosis is that with the lower chamber removed, at low airflow rates the air would easily flow through the "hole" and hardly any of it would go through the MAF counter, as a result, I had all of the problems above. At high airflow rates, a great deal of air would get sucked...
"idoscryncrocies" Is that anything like idiosyncrasies??? If you are going to use big words to impress... at least spell them right :thumb:. p.s. I don't care about my spelling I'm not trying to impress anyone. You hit it right on the head there... wasting time. The "etiquette" is to...
You wanna flame... fine... You should have just realised you made a mistake and appologised, however....You sir are a dumbass plain and simple. When I posted that (check the time) the thread was below this one. After that a new reply was put in that thread (check the time) that made...
I bought Magnecores... they lasted 1 year. I then bought Accel 300+ 8mm wires and they've been golden ever since (3+ years). I think they are called Accel Thundersport 8mm now.
I'd love to see some logs of your car."Cant keep the Nitto 555r's on the ground even in fourth. "And some time slips. For someone that can't afford better then 91 octane peeling 4th is quite the accomplishment.
Well there's 3 more posts that don't have anything to do with the topic  ... well 4 now :mad:It was a stupid question to begin with since there's been a VFAQ on how to do the conversion at www.vfaq.com for years. There's also lots of posts on the different boards he could have...
http://members.rogers.com/mrjackson9/MAF/MAF_Theory.htmThe 2G MAF seems to be a better unit. However a fully hacked 1G MAF (entire lower tube removed) can take you quite far with the proper tuning. Some notes/tips on tuning properly with a fully hacked 1G MAF:-harder to do with a...
Take the big 16G out of your list... it's not big enough. Add the FP Green and Red to the list.Fuel computer... better go stand alone (Haltek). You have to open up the airflow more at the top... cams/intake.Get a top of the line race FMIC.Gotta get a race clutch and good...
Not sure about the timing but....Issue 1)
Hmmm the stock a/f ratio is quite rich to start with. So if you had stock injectors I would think +0% would be the starting point and then you could lean it out from there. But you have 550s in there... and your high settings are +11? Wouldn't...
The 1G timing tables are fairly aggressive. I would recommend leaving the base timing at 5 degrees. Once you have your system working perfectly you can play with it a bit if you like. Why would you have a lower base pressure then recommended? I'd also keep that the stock 43 psi when...
A streetable 9 second DSM... that you build yourself. Not gonna happen. Sorry this is not to be an ass just to try and bring you to your senses. For example... Brent Rau's 9 second DSM last year went thru a tranny every event (or evey second event). Also Magnus's 10.0 second Talon has the...
"You want the boost? You can't handle the boost!"I'm thinking you are setting unrealistic goals. The only DSMs running 9s are deidcated track cars that take a great deal of man hours to keep running like that. Very few shops have cars running 9s... for a home mechanic it's next to...
A point for Dark Star to take home is that if you don't put any effort into your posts then very few will even consider replying. You get out what you put in. This is not a flame.... just constructive criticism. Now back to the question I doubt you can get into the 11s without slicks.
That's what I thought first but he said he's already swapped in a different ECU.That box will click when some part of the circuit isn't getting enough juice. An ECU with leaky caps weaks a power circuit and causes this. You will also see it if there is not enough power due to a weak...
Is it dropping off as the rpms increase?O2 voltages aren't much to tune by but I'd think with the stock IC you should be aiming for around 0.90~0.92V.Do you have a datalogger? If so what are your knock sums like?
NGK BRP6ES for stock or mildly modded 1Gs. NGK BPR7ES (one range cooler then stock) for those running 75~100 extra horses or more.http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinfo/spark_plugs/techtips.asp#heat
"Actually i don't think you will lose to much torque at all. That applies to n/a cars. The less back pressure you have, the faster the turbo can spool."I'm talking from actual experience. I use to pull my cat at the track and run open past my 2.5" mandrel dp. There was a very noticable...
You'll lose torque but gain horse power. In other words you'll notice it sluggish and less responsive prior to when the turbo kicks in. Once the turbo kicks in you'll notice a big improvement.
A 20G on stock injectors? Good luck. Your knock is probably caused by the injectors maxing out. If that's the case even the AFC won't help you.But it also may be you are just running too lean from the hacked MAF and if that's the case the AFC will be able to help you. What boost...
I can't believe people are still asking for how to instructions for things that have been on www.vfaq.com for years. For pipes Dejontools which just happened to be the add at the top of the page for me when I was reading your thread.
