Time Attack Event to Promote DSM/Mitsubishi Engineering and Embarrass Corvette

Oooof. Just ooof. My head hurts.I suggest many of you forget what your predetermined visions of "time trial/time attack/track racing" and instead go to a sanctioned event with multiple competitors in each class. Spend some time and talk with current drivers and get their impressions...

Has anyone achieved >= -3.5 front camber on a 2G?

A 3-series BMW chassis needs a ton of negative camber because of the suspension design. e36/e46/e92s are critical to get a ton of camberA 2g GSX does not nearly have the same issues for needing the amount of camber. -2 to -2.5 at most is all you will really need. That is with Hoosiers...

    need road race info please

First off, realize that it is a very hard and long road for Road Racing if you intend to have any sponsors at all. And realize for most of the time, the time you spend appeasing/working with/attaining sponsors is the equivalent of working at minimum wage. Focus on a better job/career to...

    Best R comps this season

I like the BFG R1S as well but its a completey different tire than the Hoosier. The BFG likes very little sideways action and prefers much less slip angle. Also once they are hot, there is nothing you can do to bring them back. They fall off a cliff.Hoosier allows a lot more slip...

As far as coolsuit, I actually built one of my own, but I would suggest contacting OG Racing there in Sterling, VA for options.ORrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr if you are a racer on a budget like I am, I bought a DonJoy Ice Pak system from ebay for $30, bought a "coolshirt" for $100, and it all clicks...

Tuning DSMLink v3 for Road Course / Autocross

NASA-MA is a tad on the expensive side but has a great HPDE to Time Trials to Racing License graduation. Plus you get instructors that are more than just "HPDE" instructors and will be able to help you get faster.Trackdaze is also a good option.NASA-MA's time trial also has contingency...

Is the stock transmission good for road racing?

How many miles were on the transmission? I did years of road course work with 310-400hp and never had any problems with my bone stock transmission; but that was a newer car 1998 and only had 60-80k miles during that period of 04-09.Im just trying to dispel any facts that you HAVE to do it...

Plans and projects for the 10-11 offseason? (Related to Road Racing/AutoX/Rally)

Ive found the GoPro HD model has significantly improved audio but still has problems with very high-speed. But its plug and play, the first two sound is almost perfect, but as you cna see, with road course work the wind sound can get loud if its outside. PLUS ITS rain-resistant/proof...

need help on choosing a set up for road course

Actually theres plenty of rooms on these cars. The stock fog light brackets will fit 3" hose direct on them for the front. Fab up some brackets that direct air into the rotor (not on the rotor) and your done. There was lots of space for routing the air ducts. Pic below of routing, was...

*cough* summary...track time track time track time....and of course instruction. One thing is to get opinions from the better drivers out there, but dont always take it for the golden truth, remember some people go fast "despite" their fallacies, and there may be better ways. National type...

Christ, 4k? Damn thats pretty cheap for what your getting. If I was still road coursing a dsm I would have loved to have this kit. I was hoping someday of building another DSM for PT or TT with NASA, a shame that the kit wont be available then, but your reasons are valid.Drew, as...

Plans and projects for the 09-10 offseason? (Related to Road Racing/AutoX/Rally)

Not to turn this into an oil discussion, but why are you running Mobil 1 synthetic? The "euro" castrol oils have proven much better for as cheap, I personally ran (and still run with my m3) Rotella Synthetic in my car, its a 5w40 with a high shear factor and has high mineral and zinc content...

Plans and projects for the 09-10 offseason? (Related to Road Racing/AutoX/Rally)

240 degree oil temps are actually fairly fine as long as your running a decent synthetic. If it creeps over 260 is when id worry, but 240 is actually fairly right in line.Modern synthetics actually dont start to break down beyond 280, guess what that second SAE rating is at? Thats tested...

Yeah I agree, get it sorted and take your time, dont rush into it. I say get oil cooler, get rid of a/c, go back to a SMIC and go drive the hell outta it. I wish I had never done an fmic to my dsm back in the day.If I had to do it all over again with a dsm, itd be Step A) Remove A/C B)...

^^^ PS- Trackdaze is having an event in October for only $275 for the weekend, you just have to sign up by Sunday August 1st, let me know if you want to do it, I will be running that weekend, and since its only HPDE, tons of track time.

I can't get the Talon to turn in (DG's)

1/8 up front should be plenty enough for turn in. I would personally pull down the front spring to 750 or 800 but im not sure thats going to solve your turn in.You said you were on older tires, what was your pressures? Did you monitor them every run? Also you never said how much static...
  36. D_Eclipse9916

I can't get the Talon to turn in (DG's)

Whats your front toe? That will have a huge impact on turn in. It you want "crisper" turn in, more front toe is needed. Also how much camber do you have up front compared to rear? However from the way you describe it in the slalom, I am betting this has to do more with you overcooking...

    HyperFest '10 - NASA HPDE 1

Good Review. Hope to see you out at more Mid-Atlantic events. Let me know if you ever decide to do a NJMP event late this year or early next year, I really want to do NJMP. Unfortunately MA doesnt do NJMP. If you decide to do the Evo 3 oil filter housing, I found one of the adapter pieces in...

Duh fail, thought this was the other "17x9" thread :ohdamn:
  42. D_Eclipse9916

    track wheels...17x9 +45..GTFO

17x9 +45 offset will definitely not work on a 2gb chassis. That is why people are quoting +35 offset numbers . I know for a fact any square tire on a +45 will not work on a 17x9 +45

How competetive can i be in a DSM?

:ohdamn: WTF :cry:I hate to be the douche here, but an asinine amount of these responses show how little knowledge there is in racing on this forum. If you are serious about getting into racing, stop looking on here for answers. Jump on SCCA forums/NASA forums for rules/experiences etc...

Question for all the gurus here on SCCA classing

Club racing with NASA you can do either Time Trials or Performance Touring. Time Trials is for time, performance touring is wheel to wheel racing. I came up with an awesome TTD and TTE setups for a 2g gsx if you ever decide to go that route.
  46. D_Eclipse9916

Question for all the gurus here on SCCA classing

Thats gs-ts, I beleive the GSX are up a level or two.
  47. D_Eclipse9916

How competetive can i be in a DSM?

 Yeah its bullshit, RX8 is allowed to be in STX but the M3 isnt....it runs in STU. Meh oh well, I had to pull some interior anyway for my m3's track use so id be thrown into SM anyway. Point is....SCCA has fallen behind the times in classing on a lot of cars. Although their new "street...

Question for all the gurus here on SCCA classing

You are 10 steps ahead of me when I started.I really have looked into the rules for my friend. And STX seems like a somewhat competitive class for a DSM. Youll hvae a hard time with RX8s and non-M bmws but its better than being stuck with Evos and Stis.
  49. D_Eclipse9916

    Wheel and Tire sizing

Tsi, it was a 99 or 2GB. Ill have to get pics. Ive done multiple sets of 17x9 +35 and +30 17x8s with 245 hoosiers and 245 street tires. Theres room for a 255......with some camber and maybe just a bit of a roll. I dont slam my car though. As for negative camber that sounds like a good...

Question for all the gurus here on SCCA classing

Really really depends on how modded you are. May want to mod for STX (I beleive that would be the best SCCA classing for a gsx), and then either Time Trial with NASA or do a PT or ST class wether you want to do wheel to wheel racing or just slowly get into road racing with HPDEs and Time Trials...
