I'm not as up on the 1G parts so I have a question. Does anyone sell a 60mm dual pod for a 1G or am I going to have to ream out a 52mm pod to make it fit. I thought Lo-Tek sold them but they are only listed for the 2G. Thanks for the help.jeff
We should have numbers from FP3 vs 272 on out T66 based 2.3L car next month. I hope. We are just waiting for FP to give us the go ahead to make the trip back to TX with the other car. I'll post results when we have some.jeff
As you can see it really starts to fall off around 8k due to the stock 1G intake manifold so normally I dont take it past 8000-8500, but the engine has seen 10k on a 1-2 shift. I used to have a log of it. It's still somewhere but I'm lazy. :Djeff
Idle and driveability are great. Car is just as tame as with the FP2's during normal driving but the new power is noticeable. Also notice how much power under the entire area of the curve the car picked up. Big difference. Did I mention how much I love these cams? :Djeff
When I got the FP2's they were just in comp boxes. We put the FP3's in the car at Forced Performance so I didnt look to closely. Scott just brought them out in comp boxes and we got to work.jeff
My car idles great, but then again its a big displacement high compression setup that still pulls a lot of vacuum at idle. It's still super driveable .. my wife can jump in it any time, fire it up and go wherever she wants.FP didnt mention anything about cam wear, but I'm not worried...
Been there.. sorta. We had a sleeper 16G on the red 2.3L car and it was a blast. It took a big dive in power after about 6k but it was the spool-0-matic. Great to blast around town on. Just jab the throttle and off you go. Not the best drag racing setup but definately fun as hell. :Djeff
The FP Prototype double springs are 100lbs @ 1.540 and 250 @ 1.110. In comparison, the Ferrea's which I "was" going to use are 90 @ 1.540 and 210 @ 1.110. I didnt use the Ferrea's because they need to be put on when the head is off the car. The springs were WAY to close for comfort to the...
Recently got back from some testing at FP in Texas. I have been running the FP2's for a couple of months and was there to upgrade to the FP3's. We had scheduled in some dyno time to see what and where the differences were.So here's the setup. Day 1. FP2's at 20 psi. Day2. FP3's at...
Never changed a head gasket on my 10.0:1 2.4L long rod (527whp 26psi). It's an .080 overbore too. Sees plenty of boost and is a daily driver. Every single day. Plus it sees drag race, road course and auto X events on a pretty hectic schedule. Machine the block to a low RA as well as the...
6 Bolt 2.4L 10.0:1 compression Ross/Pauter 527whp. 2+ years daily driven. The only problem I've had is that I ran off in a deep puddle once sucked in some water and bent one of the wrist pins. :D Oh, and the stock balancer came appart.6 bolt 2.3L stroker 8.8:1 compression, JE/Eagle...
ROFLYeah I'm a bit slow sometimes with the updates. :DThe offset for my wheels are 45mm offset but I machined a cool set of 5mm spacers out of billet for a total of 40mm.jeff
I usually run 101 in my car because we have it available at the pump here, but 19 psi on 91 octane is doable and I have done it. Less timing, more fuel, cold plugs and be damn sure it doesnt detonate. People will try to scare you about 10.0:1 setups but they are not that hard to tune if you...
I'm anxiously waiting Ben. We did well (653whp) with your T3/T66 setup on the red car and I wanna get in on the ground floor with your new setup for the black 2.4L car. Please keep us updated. Thanksjeff
Yes. That's what Marco was telling me when I built this motor. Wrist pin location (6mm up + the offset) allows for the tighter clearances. Long rod = big sex. :laugh:jeff
Here are a few pics from the build up. Canadian Talon is right. We are using a T3 .82AR turbine housing with a P trim turbine wheel on the hotside.Turbine housingAnd here is the dyno sheet for 34psi.jeff
All the way up to the oil pan. The only part that is still 3 inch is the 02 housing and down to the oil pan. The only reason that it's not 3.5 is to clear the oil filter. From the oilpan back, including the flex is 3.5.jeff
With just the bullet alone it's going to be fairly loud. Well, it's just going to be loud. It should still sound mean though. On the routing, I bought a 180 degree 3.5 inch Ubend and we already had the 3.5 inch straight tubing here at the shop. Then I just broke out the welder and band...
The supra guys are running 4 and 5 inch systems now. I've been running a 3.5 setup for about a year or so now and it rocks. Still pretty quiet, and picked up power on the dyno. Since we have a dyno, my car gets before and after tests for just about every part that I add. Here is some...
A FP sleeper 16G will make 400whp. Last year we made 369whp on pump gas at only 20psi on the red car with a sleeper. Stock cams and intake and AFC.jeff
If the car has a bad balance shaft bearing and has been driven, then dont buy it. All those little pieces of bearing are floating around in the oil getting into everything, rod bearings, main bearings, oil pump and cylinder walls. That car is a ticking time bomb.Just take a little more...
Thanks for the compliments. The gains from the 3.5 exhaust were realized before integration of the cutout. The cutout didnt go on the car until the stock muffler went back on the car after I had the 3.5 inch setup for some time. I sold my old 3.5 inch setup so thats the reason for the partial...
I run a 3.5 inch exhaust. Cost the same to build as a 3 inch. Did I pick up power? You bet your ass I did. ... and I'm not talking about the butt dyno either. Turbo is a SC61 P trim. The rest of my setup is on my website.jeff
Bus and I are both still running stock TB's. Bus is running the Polk stroker sheet metal intake and I am running the stock 1G. Even with the T66 Bus's car is great on the street.Lambert I am running one of the SCM61 turbos (still internal gate) with a P trim turbine wheel instead of the...
What's up big bert. For the price the FP2's probably cant be beat. Bus runs the 272's in his 2.3 and I run them in my 2.4 and you cant even tell our cars have cams at idle. The bigger displacement still pulls a lot of vacuum at idle and makes the 272 perform more like a 264 so there is a lot...
First pull with our red T66 car was 300ish whp at 10psi. By the end of the session after we had the AEM dialed in we were at 653whp at 34psi. :laugh:jeff
Here's my 2¢ about the PTE bolt on stuff. I have gone 127mph (11.52) in my heavy ass 2G GSX long rod 2.4L with the SCM61, internal gate with a P trim turbine in the .63 version of their mitsu housing with an E compressor cover. That was the first and only time the car has been to a 1/4mile...
I'll even make it easy for you. Here is the link to the dyno sheets and videos. There, no one has to do any research on their own or spend any money. Geoff has done it for us. Happy?Geoff's log vs equal length resultsjeff
Look I'm not here to argue that the log is the best thing since pants with pockets. I simply stated that power can be made with it. If you want empirical dyno data, you spend the money and time. Dont ask me to do it because you would like to prove me wrong. Now, if want to look at a...
Hi Hal. I know you know me and that I dont BS. I have Josh's honda at 620 whp dyno sheet and and David's 58? sheets. They arent the best manifold's in the world, but with 2 inch ID runners, they make power and on Don's flow bench they out flow the mitsu, SFP and turbonetics manifolds by a...
Then I'll make it simple for you. If you dont want to shift at 9k, shift when you feel its appropriate. For all I care you can shift at 5k. Your turbo selection is going to determine when you shift. Not the engine. If you're running a 16G on a 2.3L its gonna be done about 5800. So feel...
We shift both my 2.4L long rod and the 2.3L stroker at 9K.2.3L T66 P Trim, HKS 272's
2.4L SC61 P Trim HKS 272'sBoth cars have the same head. The 2.3L car is 8.8:1 compression Eagle/JE combo and the 2.4L car is 10.0:1 Pauter/Ross combo. Both daily driven. Especially the 10.0:1...
In my case it wouldnt have mattered if I was running an M48Pro . There is only so much boost I can make with the internal gate then it just begins to open. Plus my DSMlink was about $700 total and took me about 120 seconds to have it fully dialed in. The AEM thats on the red car was right at...
