The mark on the timing belt looks like the wrong oil pan bolts were used. The oil pan bolts in the front of the engine should be shorter than the rest.Good luck!
What does MIR do with the banners after the event is over? I wouldn`t be surprised if they were discarded. The thieves may have very well been able to get at least some of them for free the after the event was over.
Interesting crash test. The seat/shoulder belts kept the dummies in the car, but really snapped the heads. The driver`s head even hit the steering wheel. Seemed like it had a fairly good "crumple zone" though.I`ve been driving without crash beams for 10 years or so in my `90 daily driver...
The car has a lot of life left and like most cheap DSM junkies, I try to do everything myself:DI just can`t imagine this stuff working very well. I was hoping somebody would post up with positive results and a few helpful tips:)
This car has been my daily driver for the last four years. The time has come to put some money into it. But, I`m really tired of looking at this.I bought this repair kit, but was concerned I would just make it worse.Has anybody tried this stuff? Got any advice on how to repair this?
Thanks Jeff, for your reply on how you personally handle back ups. I understand the reasoning behind back ups. I was asking about official rules of establishing those back ups. Somebody correct me if I`m wrong. The are no established rules here for back ups. They are not required for an...
More than once in this thread, somebody has mentioned a back up for their ET. I`ve submitted several times over the years, and never submitted a back up.NHRA has lots of rules about record ETs. Are there some rules to the back ups mentioned in this thread? I found nothing on this forum or...
Have you contacted [email protected]? They have always had good support for me.The OP only gave two options. AEM or Ostrich are not options. You already have a Haltech. See if they can fix it economically.Nothing wrong with ECMLink, I run it in my 300hp DD and do my own tuning...
Good to see the long time DSMers staying in the game....such dedication. I got the same problem. I`ll be watching this one.Really interested in the dash fix. When was it done and how is it holding up? Do you keep it away from sunlight, heat, and cold?Good luck and enjoy the journey.
I`ve had several failures with Cometic and ARP. My car`s around 700hp with nitrous. I think my problem was mainly the head lifting due to the studs. I switched to Fel-Pro with A1 studs. No more HG problems.JAM and Bogus SVO have the knowledge and reputation. I`m not arguing, just relating my...
You`ve taken care of the 60`times with the wheel/tire upgrade. The lifter tick thing just drives me crazy! The 3g lifter is an upgrade, but doesn`t always solve the tick. The next time my head is off, I`m trying this...
haha I was in that position just yesterday myself and at the age of 61, it ain`t easy getting back up:(When I ask about play, I`m not talking about mounting points. I`m talking about getting in your favorite position, move the clutch pedal with one hand, while watching the clutch rod. The...
The first line implies that if the master cylinder rod was just a little longer it would work. That`s a $2 fix. It`s the exact thing that happens when the pedal assembly is not right. That`s why I asked if there was play. I`ve seen 1g pedal assemblies welded wrong absolutely requiring a longer...
When you first start to depress the clutch pedal, does the adjustment rod immediately start to move? If you can depress the pedal any at all without the rod moving, the assembly is worn. To my knowledge, the pedal assembly must be removed to be repaired properly. If the assembly is not...
You can make the master cylinder adjustment rod as long as you want. Just find a bolt with the length you want and the correct diameter and thread pitch. Round off the head of the bolt with a grinder. If you decide to do this, be extremely careful not to over adjust. You can push the plunger in...
bastarddsm might chime in with his tweaks, but for me it goes like this.A good, preferably OEM slave and master cylinder.
A good clutch pedal assembly.
Steel braided clutch line.
New clutch fork & pivot ball.
OEM throw out bearing.
Make sure the system is bled completely. If there is...
A couple of questions.
Is a SB clutch from TMZ different than a SB clutch from another vendor?
Are you recommending a clutch you have no experience with?
I`m surprised that a 1000hp car uses standard ARP`s...and torqued to 110..wow. Tightening beyond factory specs didn`t work for me. The head gasket also makes a difference. After having a head lifting incident, I tried tightening beyond factory specs. It happened again. After that, I had many...
I have a `91 GSX auto shell. Anything mechanical or electrical has been removed.Anybody that might need glass or body parts send me a PM and I`ll let you know what condition that part is in......if it`s still on the car. It`ll be gone in a week!!
I had a 2600 last for 8 years with many 11 sec passes @400hp. Your clutch pedal assembly will probably end up with some play in it. A 1g thing that must be addressed with hi-perf clutches.
The replies focused on maintenance are legit.More power means adding more air. But, to do that safely, you must be able to add more fuel. I would start with the a bigger fuel pump to support the other mods that add power. Unless I missed it, this was only mentioned 1 time.If you go to a...
You can bolt up a non turbo trans to a turbo motor, but it can`t handle the power....a waste of time. It`s a downgrade not an upgrade.I think your options are:
1-find a f4a33 (turbo) trans:hellyeah:
2-use the nonturbo trans, and toss your turbo:notgood:
My neighbor has halted his project. He did bolt up a `90 flexplate to his `94 non turbo converter. That`s where he stopped. It looks like it will work.Maybe somebody else can add to this.
There`s a difference, although I think they will bolt up....if it`s FWD.My neighbor is attempting to make this swap, but has mothballed it for now. I asked a few questions for him, but got few answers in this thread...
