Well my AOL is also laserspeedddemon. :D
I've had the same login since the days of Prodigy Chatrooms.Well, kinda. Gave up my career, to discover myself. Glad I did.Actually I do. And after 8.5 years....I am still working on the same build. But I will either finish soon as I am finishing...
Pretty straight forward. I cant find the proper torque specifications for the 6-bolt rods. I don't have the sheet, a shop did the work with these rods, but it spun a bearing in 5 miles. Now 5 years later, I'm rebuilding the engine. I had the rods checked out by a local machine shop it's all...
You misread that what I wrote. The stock block can EASILY handle 400 AWHP, and breaking 400 AWHP is not hard even on a stock block if you know what you are doing.
What do you mean the rear main seal backed out? How did you manage that. There is a cover that prevents that.As for the VC gasket, use RTV to improve the seal.
I 100% agree with your last statement/paragraph. The reason my last engine went in my car was because I trusted a shop and had 5 days before I shipped out to Afghanistan, I rushed it.That was extremely foolish of me.
Most dealerships don't build motors they just trade in a crate motor. So by your example all the mechanics at my local Ford shouldn't be working on cars. It's not about how to READ a micrometer, its learning to feel the drag properly. There are HUNDREDS of examples of RACE SHOPS screwing up...

https://www.facebook.com/NationalSpeedThey have completely ignored all emails and phone calls and I don't have the money to sue them.
This can be VASTLY misleading. This is not a task that your everyday home garage wrench tuner can perform. There is a HUGE difference between having the tools and having the knowledge and experience to accurately use them. This is not something that is small. If you are going to do it by...
No, this shop came HIGHLY recommended and they do work on cars like Aston Martins. Or at least the claim they do. It could all be lies. The cylinders had the cross hatches visible, but the rings made vertical glaze marks...likely due to the improper ring gap, so I honed the block. Like you said...
Some of this is going to require a machine shop to do. For example measuring the piston to wall clearance, main bearing clearance/roundness, rod bearing clearance/roundess, etc.
BTW, I just wanted to say that rings gapped on the NEW rings at around 0.014", so it is my suspicion that National Speed never gapped the rings at all.I tried hiring a lawyer. They won't take a case unless they get like some ridiculous amount. And the money I had towards a lawyer went towards...
Well I moved and brought the car with me. I can not find any fault visually with the old rings. I also inspected the pistons. I cleaned them off using brake cleaner and a Magic Eraser. Came out really good. I re-honed the cylinders and I bought a new set of Manley rings. I have my own ring...
Low 20s, maybe 25psi at the most on a 16g. These are Manley rings. How many miles on your block? National Speed Inc. did the motor. Fresh block, fresh crank. They messed it up REAL bad. The motor lasted 3 days, 120 miles. So I am redoing it. I found A LOT of sloppy work. The reused the inline...
Finally got some time to take a break and work on the car.I got my piston rings all laid out and I am plan on running 0.021" on the top and 0.028" in the second ring. But I can find little to NO information on addressing the gap for oil rails and oil support. In fact the only thing I found was...
You are focusing on semantics. Really. In the video at the EXACT same time I state (1:37 in the video) the wrong numbers ("point two one"), I add a citation that states that "According to Total Seal, who makes the rings for Manley, they recommend 0.021" for the top and 0.028" for the bottom"In...
I had National Speed Inc, in NC do my build when I was deployed. It lasted 120 miles. I recently tore down the motor to try to diagnose the failure. A compression test showed 155, 155, 120, 100 psi. A leak down test showed that the piston rings were leaking. Some context to the situation is...
I sent an email to FP along with a few pictures, and they had some VERY good information. Anyway you look at it all roads lead to the shop being negligent. But FP said it's always hard to prove that a shop is at fault.I'm hoping a judge will look at this and say: He paid $8000 and the car...
No this is a THIRD shop. Came highly recommended, from some reputable people. But it seems they have more business then they can manage. For those that don't know
Shop 1: Bored the crap out of my engine
Shop 2: Machined the rod journal out of spec (tapering was visible)
Shop 3: Failed to keep...
A shop that built my engine was supposed to have tuned the car on meth on SD; as I had already installed a GM IAT and a GM 3.5 bar sensor. I also wired them into the wiring harness and registered them in DSMLink along with my AEM WB.However, when they delivered the car to me. It neither had...
Wet compression test confirms that there is a problem with the bottom end. This sucks, this is the third shop to screw me like this. This time out cost me $8000 and I only got to enjoy the car for 3 days. I only put 120 miles on this engine,
BACKGROUND INFO: SKIP TO BOLD TEXT FOR RESULTS!
Not too long ago, I had a shop replace the engine in my Laser with the money I got from a deployment (contractor) (by a shop that shall not be named); since my last engine ate it's bearings (this another story that I won't go into.)Everything...
I assure you that there will be ways to disable and enable the system. Even keywords to activate the system....kinda like my phone when I say "OK Google"
After installing my dual fuel pump setup and re-wiring them to work. My gas tank dummy light stays on and the fuel level stays at E.I removed the assemble and disconnected the power for the fuel pumps then I moved the fuel level up and down and it still stays on E. Here is how I got it...
Buying a wrecked salvaged car will almost always be a waste of money. Depending on your state, you may have to have a "certified" shop do the repair work. In most states you MUST have some sort of certified safe inspection. Then you have the process of getting it registered. Insurance won't...

Well I typed up a huge explanation, but the short version is already in the original post. Just to briefly recap. I still have to pay my mortgages. Only people that lose out is the landlord (who insisted that I quit the business, rather than renegotiate the lease) and one bank loan. We signed...
Well it's official, I have filed for bankruptcy. Just got out of court (via remote dial-in). Some may say it is bad, and I still don't know how this will affect my job. But as it stands. It was the best move I could make. The business my wife and I had would not survive in it's current location...
Defiant and I had our share of bumps, but the discipline was more in line while he was around. The environment from the general population were more mature. I understand why Chris had to ease back. This website must be ran like a business in order to keep growing. Unfortunately that means the...
