I'm thinking about keeping the DSM around for a bit more and I'm looking for a solid machine shop with 4G63 experience. I've been out of the scene for quite some time, so I really have no idea where to even start. If anyone can recommend a place that won't dick me around and does quality...
After a bunch of years of the car sitting around either on jackstands or on the street, I finally found the motivation and a little bit of spare time to start working on it again.. Over the past week, Ive pulled the motor out and tore it down, and dropped in the 6 bolt that I've had for it for...
I don't know if I'd consider lambo doors a pro, but hey, to each their own. ROFL
I think that above all else, besides the mechanicals, tackling the rust should be priority #1. $1200 isn't a bad deal on a 2G, but if the rust is severe enough, you'll easily double that price just trying to...
When you re-installed the T-belt did you follow the procedures to the letter?
Recheck your timing marks. It's possible that it's off a tooth.
Another thing to take into consideration, if the balance shaft are still installed, make sure that they are in phase. An out of...
MDP sensor needs to have a boost/vacuum signal. Use one of the nipples on the intake manifold and attach a vacuum hose from there to the bottom of the MDP sensor. The nipple on the MDP is very short, but you can use a small ziptie and a spot or 2 of crazy glue on the inside of the hose to...
I'm not sure if I saw this mentioned anywhere, so I apologize if it's been brought up already, but instead of running a wire from the B terminal of the alternator, I simply integrated my fuel pump re-wire into my cut-off switch circuit. Logically, it seems to be a safer alternative and it...
I concur with the above posts. Just suck it up and pay the ticket. It's small change and doesn't appear on your record.
I also concur that the laws here in the People's Socialist Commonwealth of the Imperial Kingdom of Virginia are among the worst in the land when it comes to the import...
A few questions regarding the Hoosiers; How much sidewall flex do these tires seem to have? (i.e. are they designed to wrinkle at all similar to the QTP's?) What I'm getting at is, will lowering the pressure a bit more cause the center of the tire to lose contact, or will it allow the...
WTF That roundish piece kind of looks like a part of one of the oil squirters. Pic #2/3.Time to start tearing stuff apart and finding the cause/location. Good Luck.
That evap purge code could be completely unrelated. There's nothing to my knowledge within the evap/purge system that could cause the car to run that bad.The only thought that popped up, and I didn't think about it until after I posted to your other thread; How often is the car doing...
The erratic idle can be caused by a myriad of things. First things last... Before you buy this car, do a compression test. (as previously posted) If the numbers are solid, start looking at the stupid little stuff that gets overlooked during a swap.If this is a GVR motor with the silly dual...
Completely off topic, but Siral; You never heard me say that they "made" any in Europe. I said that they were imported, meaning brought into European nations and then sold there. I personally know of 3 2G GS-T's and 2 GS-X's that were bought in Europe. (Germany, Sweden, and Austria.)But...
You should check your sources.. First and foremost; Mitsubishi DID eventually release the turbo cars in Europe during the last few years. Second, lots of them were imported privately. Think of how many military guys brought their 1G and 2G's there..As far as the Evo III manifolds...
Ok, got your info. Make sure to reply to the email. After you get it and are able to login, make sure that you go thru the Forum rules pretty well.. There are a few things in there that we are VERY particular on.See ya there.
If you have registered at SOVADSM.com and didn't respond to the pre-registration e-mail within 7 days, your account info gets purged from our database.Razey, I recall seeing your name, but you never responded to the mail that was sent to your registration address.
No access to tools or a place to do it yourself? There's only a few shops here in the area, but their labor rates are all through the roof... Besides, no one works on my car except me. ;)
Black 2G, no bumper cover and an itsy bitsy front-mount, 3G wheels sitting in the parking lot of Red Lobster behind Lynnhaven Mall. Has a Tuners banner across the top of the windscreen.Anyone claim it?
If you can't find anyone local, send it to John at Jestrtuning.com or have Jeff at DSMChips.com (Keydiver) do it. Both are in Florida and have pretty damn good turn around times.
The key is, when you have that big ole plow attached during the winter, slow down before you hit the really big snow piles... They will tear your front end up something fierce.. :D
Dropped the pan a few days ago and found that the #4 rod bearing is trashed. The crank journal has a few minor scuffs, but appears to be fine. The rod journal is spotless, which is sort of surprising considering the condition of the bearings.I haven't had the chance to mic the journals...
Here is a fresh log; starting at 2560 in 3rd and continuing until just into 5th.Pertinent info:
MkIV pump w/ rewire, Big 16G @ 18psi on 93 pump, 650's, Aeromotive FPR @ 43psi, slightly hacked MAF, eprom ecu w/ DSMChips stage III chip, (1 side HC removed), S-AFC @ +16 from 3.5k~8k, rest of...
Thanks for the tips you guys, I definitely appreciate it. :thumb:In all honesty, the main reason that I even posted those was to make sure that they would look right, and since Jeff @ DSMChips has been working with me on some new timing maps, I wanted him to see the specific area that the...
I'm at 2850lbs total weight with myself, 1/4 tank, the rear seat and spare tire.
Removed-
*what little tar paper there is on the floor boards
*carpeting insulation
*passenger side airbag
*insulation all the way up the firewall on the inside
*power steering pump, lines and reservoir...
All of your favorite OEM parts can be sourced thru www.JNZTuning.com* Not affilited or associated with JNZ in any manner. I'm just a satisfied customer.
Is the car on a lift? If so, bolt the trans to the motor, remove the rear roller mount from the trans and put it on a low profile engine dolly. (Wooden square on wheels)Position the motor/trans under the engine bay and lower the car to the motor. Once you have the car low enough and you...
Attempted a few quick 3rd 4th gear pulls today on my way home from work..In all honesty, the quality/length of these logs suck..
Everytime that I thought I had a nice open stretch of road in which to get into it,
something would catch my eye and cause me to get out of it really quick...
Yeah bro, my tag has been on RRE forever and a day. ;)If you look down a little further on there, someone gets some A+ originality points for trying to be like me. :notgood:I am the TRUE Slo DSM! My plate says so. ROFL
Judging by the picture of the GS that is pictured in your profile, you have the 16" OZ's which came equipped with 205/55-16's. Total outside diameter for oem tires is 24.7"~24.9".
I'm sorry to say that I really don't like it at all. However, I can definitely appreciate it for the time and effort that you must have put into it, and for that I commend you.Regardless of what anyone of us here thinks; the important thing is that it makes you happy. It's your...
Actually Doug, I couldn't disagree more. Seeing as a better part of the SoVaDSM guys are also Tuners members as well, Aggression is just trying to help solidify the details so we can help plan accordingly on our end. I think that if the arrangements get carried over to the other forums that...
I wanted mine on the firewall, but didn't like having it so close to the two reservoir's I was able to 'adjust' the clutch reservoir bracket some and relocate it over to the corner.
The 2G install kit for a 16G will work on a 14B. The 14B and 16G belong to the same family of turbo's (TDO5H) and are externally identical as far as dimensions and mounting points/locations.
Make your own block-off plate. Any piece of .032 or thicker aluminum will work. Cut it to fit using the lower half as a template. When you remove the FIAV from the TB, you might want to seal up the air passages with JB weld, as this will cure some of the slight 1200~1500 rpm idle surge...
X2. I have Koni yellows up front, AGX's in the rear, and Pro-Kit's. I've also got the RRE lower front tie-bar, F&R strut braces, and Prothane suspension bushings.Keeping in mind that I am the king of budget racing, and have hardly spent full price on anything for my car; my total in...
Thanks for going more indepth Bruce. I guess that I should have made myself a bit clearer and actually mentioned porting and it's significance to combating creep. (I tend to associate porting as an integral addition to consistent boost control)I forget at times that the Evo 16's are...
What is the major problem that you are having? More information is always better. The resolution on the 91~92 is 'slightly' better, but you shouldn't have any issues with the later CAS as long as it's a known good sensor. (except for the occasional random misfire~ P0300)I've been...
Connect a hose directly from your boost source to the wastegate actuator. Connected like that, the flapper will just open at whatever the diaphram pressure is. (Should be between 10~12psi.)With the 2G install kit, the turbo will bolt up to the manifold with no issues. Driveability...
As Ed stated, read up on Magnus's tech page.. There are a couple of proven ways to get past the random mis-fire, and the baro mod seems to be about the most cost effective if you wish to stay on factory management. It's just the nature of the beast of trying to run a 1G CAS on a 2G...
I'm assuming that you are talking about the rear lower control arm, and not the trailing arm. The bolt that you need is Mitsubishi part # MB844524, the nut is Mitsu part # MF430123 and the washer is MS450993.If it's the trailing arm, (the very front one with one large round end, and an...
95% of the vacuum lines that are there are completely unnecessary if emissions aren't a concern.Essentially, you can do away with the purge/evap solenoids as well as the fuel pressure solenoid. As previously stated, leave them electrically connected and just tuck them down lower out of...
