1. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

What could possibly happen with the turbo? It met the trash bin, that's what. And about the nut, it was never found. It might have fell out when Mason removed intake pipe at some point, but it did not make it into the intake tract.
2. 1G bodykit

3. Smoking 1G talon. Need help..

4. stud holes that are too big to tap

I can't seem to rememer, what is stock stud thread pitch? Is it 8mmX1MM or 8mmX1.25MM ? Thanks guys.
5. Infineon Wednesday Night Drags

And I have chunks from Danny's block for grabs. You might need to use a little JBweld to make it into a complete block :p
6. Infineon Wednesday Night Drags

I'm freakin' exctatic! I just passed my state ref. inspection. WooHooo!Bastards almost failed me because they couldn't get EGR to open, that's when I had to step in show them how it's done. Rookies. I put CA emission stuff on my federal car, and CA verion has three ports on EGR, and you have...
7. damn.......

Well well well... Looks like someone had too much fun while I was gone (Hawaii by the way) There goes your plan to show up at my shop and pretend it's a warranty claim :tease:As for that lower rad. support, tie a rope to it and to the post, and then back up slowly untill it's where you want...
8. I was test only'ed, any help guys?

Now that you mention it, for the past year, all 2G owners I've dealt with were test-only, so I guess 2Gs were deemed as "high failure percentage" as well. Luckily though, no test-only station I've hear of has figured out 6-bolt swap clues.I actually have an appointment with state ref. on...
9. I was test only'ed, any help guys?

I'm not sure how Ref fits into their 'red-flag' system, but generally, if you fail a smog check, a shop can do two things: They can simply not submit results and save you, or they can choose to submit failed results (along with any other comments about visal ispection failures) and that fill...
10. I was test only'ed, any help guys?

second gens aren't defaulted to test-only. You only get sent there if you were red-flagged somewhere else. It should say on your registration notice if you're due for test-only.Also, test-only stations aren't the ones you go to for the ref. Test-only is a regular smog station that is...
11. I was test only'ed, any help guys?

a quick note, This may be a loophole in the system: Max was due test-only last year, but his car was down, so he registered is as non-op. When DMV sent him renewal notice, it had a choice to either continue non-op status or get it on the road by passing a smog-check, except that it was no longer...
12. Water/Meth kit or nitrous???

Getting back to your original question, Meth and n2o are to completely difference beeasts, and there is nothing to stop you from running both. It's hardly anymore of a nightmare to tune as each of them separately. However, as been stated before, n2o is only good for 1/4mi. I personally run 100%...
13. 2g exhaust manifold and o2 housing on 1g what gasgets?

14B < 16G < Big16G < Evo3 16GSo yeah, 6cm.
14. Oil filter

The part, onto which youscrew your folter on is actually a hollow bolt, and can be replaced separately. However, you need to find out where you have stripped it. If you stripped threads onto which filter goes on, then simply replace that bolt. If you stripped threads where that bolt goes into...
15. Yellow window tint film

From what I can see around here, yellow tint doesn't age well at all. The inside illumination of the car would stress your eyes, and overall, it looks like on of those colored plastic hampster cages.
16. 2g exhaust manifold and o2 housing on 1g what gasgets?

That depends what turbo you're running. Evo3 16G and bigger will need 7cm gasket.
17. Hey, ive been gone a while, need some help with rebuild

Well, if got yourself a rod knock, rebuilding a top end won't do you much good. A whole engine will need to be pulled, crank inspected and probably replaced, block bored, honed and decked and all the other goodies that make up the engine would have to go in. You can check out slowboyracing.com...
18. Yellow window tint film

Every now and then I see thos yellow 2G here with yellow tint, and only thing I gotta tell is DON'T DO IT. I find it hard to describe how horrible it looks.
19. 2g exhaust manifold and o2 housing on 1g what gasgets?

You need regular exhaust manifold inlet gasket (2G is same size there) You'd need a 6 or 7cm turbo inlet gasket You'd need a standard O2 housing gasket.OEM prefered, but just use you judgement when assessing quality of the gasket.
20. Hey, ive been gone a while, need some help with rebuild

I doubt you'd find a whole rebuild kit. What exactly are you looking to do: Regasket everything and mate a head to the block, or rebuild the head itself with new valves, seals etc ?
21. Hey, ive been gone a while, need some help with rebuild

There is too much stuff out there to try and list it here. Generally, topline is commonly accepted supplier of aftermarket gasket kits and rebuild components. Head gasket kit will run you up to $100 depending on brand. APEX seems to make nice kits, where all gaskets are urethane reinforced...
22. PLEASE HELP.... cooling problem!!

A quick test to see if cap is your problem , is to simply feel upper rad. hose when car is fully warm. If hose is firm, then cap is fine. If hose easily squizes, then cap is your culprit.
23. grinding noise and no power to amp when i turn wheel hard

It looks like your alternator belt is damaged or not tight enough. When you pin your wheels, it puts more load on the P/S pump, since it's driven by the water pump pulley, which is driven by the alternator belt, it looks like your P/S pump is putting a lot of resistance on the alt. belt and...
24. Where does this go?

Take another pic, but zoom out a bit, so we can get a better perspective of where that line is in relation to other stuff.
25. PLEASE HELP.... cooling problem!!

You're blowing exhaust into coolant. It's time for a head gasket job. sorry bro.
26. linkage pictures or info

A good way to check is to remove shifter cables off the gear selector levers (on the tranny), but leave them in the braket, have your friend put shifter into '3rd gear' position, then you manually move gear selector levers into third gear (you can guess which way to move them by looking at...
27. Lots of blue smoke, good compression, timing, vacume no oil in licp. Why burning oil?

First off, having a bent valve will not put oil into the cylinders. Blown valve seal would. Second, it is hugely unlikely to crack a guide, considering that it's pressed into the head, with constant pressure working on it from the outside. It's more likely that valve ground the guide from the...
28. 1997 GST tranny removal....

Look into replacing clutch fork if it hasn't been replaced recently.Don't forget to support the engine while pulling the tranny, since three of the four motor mounts are on the tranny intself.
29. select cable on tranny is to long?

Which way is letter 'S', that's stamped on your braket facing, towards the engine, or pass. side?
30. select cable on tranny is to long?

here are pics from '90 tranny (off a well running car)
31. select cable on tranny is to long?

Also make sure that braket isn't turned 180* around, because that places cables much closer to select levers. If you still need more adjustment, you can remove rubber bushings/spacers that holt that braket, get two pairs of washers and use large mounting holes in the braket to move it around...
32. select cable on tranny is to long?

Yep.There were two different styles of shifter cable retainer brakets. Just take it off your old tranny and bolt it to the new one.
33. [RESOLVED] Clutch Slave cylinder bleeder valve [ & Speedbleeder]

To bleed the slave cyl. on an AWD 1g, you should use deep 10mm socket and 1/4" ratchet or T-handle drive. There will be no way to hook up a drip line, but with socket on there, it won't spray in your eyes. You'll just have to wipe the mess on the floor afterwards.
34. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

Manifold didn't crack, he just desided to switch to a cast mani (it's not a log-style manifold by the way, its turbonetics ). As for the hood clearance, we had to cut some louvers in the hood over the turbo to get some cool air.
35. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

I won't argue with that, welds do look chunky, but they only look that. A weld shop had a mix-up, and filled our tank with 100% argon instead of argon/CO2 mix, so welder was running too hot for 18 gauge steel, which forced me to use a lot of filler to avoid blowing right through the metal...
36. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

Here's the turbo he bought. I couldn't get much more info on that: http://www.kineticmotorsport.com/catalog/garrett-t3t4-trim-p-995.html (.63 ar exhaust)
37. scm61 spooling at 6k!?!?!

Something doesn't add up here. If you're running 2G mani and 1G 02 housing, where exactly is external wastegate mounted?
38. Did i destroy my turbo?

Well, there's your answer. You should've never removed comp and exh. wheels. They're extremely precisely balanced. Once they're off, balancing is non-existent anymore, so it simply whobbled itself to destruction. This should be a lesson for you. NEVER remove wheels from a turbo, unless you're...
39. Did i destroy my turbo?

Did turbine and compressor wheel spin freely when you reassembled it? Does it spin free now? Did you attempt to remove compressor/exhaust wheel from the shaft?
40. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

That's what it seem like. Other people have been reporting other problems, and they're all different, so it's a really hit-or-miss with those turbos. It doesn't seem like there is one thing you can fix and have yourself a good turbo.
41. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

Threadlock is not an option. The turbo comes assembled and balanced. Removing that nut will throw it off balance, and it would have to be professionally rebalanced. No other damaged has been caused by the failure as far as I can tell at this point. However, I still need to tear it down to...
42. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

Never made it to the dyno unfortunately. I tried to get him to do it, but it's his decision. I plan to have that turbo swap done by monday/tuesday, so I shouldn't get in a way of your build. And yes, you're right, it probably got stuck somewhere in the FMIC, if it ever cleared comp. housing. :p...
43. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

Well, here it is.Owner already has new 60 trim and cast manifold lined up for the car, so I will rip that ebay turbo apart to see if I find more intersting stuff.
44. EBAY $675 turbokit installed on a 1G (pics)

I know a lot of you guys have been waiting for an update on this, and I finally have one for you.Turbo is done for. I see this kind of failure for the first time in my DSM life. A retaining nut came off the shaft and detached compressor wheel from the shaft. I'm stil yet to find the nut, but I...
45. Infineon Wednesday Night Drags

Ron here posting on Newlogics, the magic muffler is the Magnaflow. Part #12590, 3"in/3"dual out. Also, #12298 and #12398 will work for that all important stealthy appearance:)
46. RPMS drop low after i rev the engine

If you can source a good used ISC, I suggest go ahead and put it in to know for sure if it's your ISC or something else that's messing with the idle.
47. RPMS drop low after i rev the engine

Are you running stock or alum. flywheel?
48. GST Engine sputtering

Cam angle sensor is a sensitive spot for water. There were quite a few threads about engine washing that ended in faulty CAS.Are you running open filter? Take it off and see if there is moisture, water puddles inside filter, intake tract. Also, check your compression. Extreme dipstick...
