I would think it is the battery, I have the same problem now it is damn cold out and even when I plug it doesn't start that great. Try and get the battery tested.

What if you just noticed that you don't have a rubber cap? Should you pull out and not drive the car anymore? Or is it still good to go while you look for a rubber cap?

Good call on the lighter weight oil. I change to 5W30 in winter and then summer I will go back to 10W30. That seems to help. But the block heater will help the most.

I had the same problem with mine when it hit -20. Do you have a engine block heater? Once I started pluging mine it starts a lot better in the cold.
