Would it be worth the trouble to soak and clean the lifters or should I just go and replace them?......***mental thought***...........Maybe I should first remove them and see if they are still ok. What do you guys think?
I'm quite surprised at how easy this sounds to do. Is it really that easy? I am planning on rebuilding my turbo and since I have a leaky valve cover gasket to replace maybe I should also clean them lifters.
LOL......I just gotta laugh...........................parts flying everywhere......what a sight that would be.........mass DSM destruction at the local Dairy Queen parking lot.............all for a couple of little black spots on the asphault.....LOL
Same sh*t here in NJ.........haven't been able to pass emissions since Oct........praying on every drive that I don't get pulled over...........I have a tiny spec of blue smoke only when she sits for a little and you punch the gas.........they won't even pull it into the bay and put it on the...
I second that........4g63mightymax is right it looks like you are running very lean if all you went was 50 miles and they look like that.........I can see maybe one defective plug but not 3 out of 4.
The intermittent vibration at certain speeds as well as odd sounds may be due to the wheel being off balance, warped rotor, seized barake caliper, uneven brake pads, warped rim, bad bearing......I would start from the outside and work my way in.
if you get the *clunk* when stepping on the gas and braking then, yeah, motor mount. If she is jumping on you only when you throw her into D, then maybe your idle is to high. Just guessing on the later.
This is a very common problem and one that is a constant thorn in my *ss. I have gone through 4 of them damn things. Don't even thing about the dealor. Some craxy sh*t like $45 to $50 for it. I suggest a little trip to the salvage yard. Less than $5, and half the time they don't even charge...
Yes there is still oil in the pan even if there is no indication on the dipstick. Running on low oil is not recommended (especially for the distance you drove). Should have added oil along the way back. If your car did not overheat and there is no odd engine noises then concider yourself...
Check the thermostat (as previouisly mentioned) and also check to see that your upper and lower radiator hoses aren't shot.....If they are really
squishy when you squeeze them they may be caving under the high pressure.
Ok.....I (personally) have given up on getting information from this site.......sorry that is not a diss to everyone on here, just you've let me down on numerous occasions..............Now.....I was getting the same problem and a whole bag of others this past summer.......turns out the weird...
That pic doesn't really help determine where ist's leaking from. But if you are sure all hoses are tight and no cracks or pin holes I'd say yeah the water pump is gone. When was the last time you replaced it?
If it is the water pump...I feel for you....that thing was a pain in the ass, being...
I need to replace my valve cover gasket. It is leaking oil from the lower left corner and I'm thinking that this may have something to do with the white smoke that occasionally my car emits (sometimes in large quatity......just like Spy Hunter) Now when I replace this gasket what others...
My belt blew when I tried to start it one morning. Appeared the balancer belt snapped and jammed up the timing belt, because the timing belt didn't split just had about 10 teeth stripped off. I did the entire belt change and then checked my timing. The timng was perfect. If you haven't...
the windshield will not just break into a million little pieces. It's shatter proof like all modern windshields. For now the worste is the crack may spread and you can't pass inspection. I had some guy come and replace mine in front of my house for $170....Cut his fingers up really good...
OK.....SORRY......about blowing up. I had been drinking all night....But honestly...COME ON..........over 70 people have now read this thread and not one has any useful feedback......As for the 20 min stud change......You my man must be some sort of Mechanical God to be able to replace the...
OK......Don't worry.....Yes it is alright that they look to be off about half a tooth. You won't get them to fully line up. I recently did my belts and to get all marks ligned up you top 2 marks are going to be 1/2 a tooth off. As for the crank pulley.....YES......this needs to come off to...
HELLO???!!!!?????!!!!!!.....33 peeps look at this because it says TURBO in the heading.....But not one of you have any words of wisdom...........I thought that this site had members who knew what the hell they were doing.............The responses I got fall under the "NO SH*T" category.......I...
OK...Honestly I must say I like the eclipse body over the TALON...but......since I drive a 1G AWD TALON I guess I gotta favor my BABY.......SHE is a #@%#@%#@%#@%#@%!!!!!!!.....but I LOVE HER and abuser HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>>>>>................
Ok...I hear ya on the bad terminoligy..."weaken" was just wrong......It just seems odd that it is happening like is described....you would think that the heating of the engine would cause the gasket (and metal) to swell at high temps....I'm stymied(excuse the term I'm pretty much wrecked...
Ok..I've been spilling wisdom....time to pick your brains and see if you all come up with the same conclusions I have.......My turbo (quick reference: Car is bone stock other than the occasional strip of electrical tape and gum......My job is to keep her running) doesn't seem to have it's...
Are you sure that the belts were put on with all markings ligning up? If these are just a tooth or 2 off firing will not occur at correct time. When you put those belts back on where you at TDC?
OK...to start...to get rid of corrosion use a paste of water and baking soda fizzle that sh*t away nicely..............Now.....when you turn the key does the starter just engage or does it also try and turn the engin over......You said your friend tested the starter, in the car or out of...
Check to see if the radiator is good. Do a flush of the radiator system. Also check your hoses, upper and lower. If the feel real mushy replace them. They may be caving and thus closing cuasing excess pressure.
There is a fuse box under the dash on the left driver's side. I would suggest picking up a Chilton's. Very helpful for any car. Also check out www.dsm.org and th vfaq. There should be posts regarding wiring.
OK.........what is happening to you is exactly what happen in my car. I checked everything (especially fuel, fuel pump, filter, etc, etc, etc). All in all much time and money wasted when it was just the ECU. I would go weeks with no problem, then days on end with nothing but troubles. I even...
Yes there is.....read through the FAQ and you'll find it. I don't remember exactly where.
I had to do it. I took a large box wrench and put it on the bolt and then leaned against the axle. Once this is secure and safe from shooting off you give turn the key just enough to crank it once and...
OK...I have 2 mystery lights.......The first is located in one of the option holes on the left of my dash, above my fog lights......This I believe is an alarm light....Can't quite remember haven't used my alarm since I smashed the remote in a angry fit of drunken rage ( for absolutely no...
OH MAN.....you want everything.......convertable, turbo, awd...........I have enough trouble keeping my car even running on a consistant bases.........I will admit though, that would be sweet...........
Testing the coil packs is not hard. I don't recall the actual steps. They are listed in the Chilton's manual. If you don't have this let me know and i may be able to find it this weekend.
Also checking the ecu is not hard at all either. It's only held on by 3 bolts and the 3 wire...
2" (inches).......God....stop....no need to raise or lower the engine......Jack the front end of the car up and put her on jack stands. Then they say to use a piece of wood and support the engine from under the oil pan. I'm sorry but I don't put any excessive pressure than needed on that...
This is true. First a wheel balancement and alighnment it needed. If at this time the steering wheel is still off center you can always pull it off and reseat it straight.
Definitely check the ECU. That's what did it in my car. I picked up a cheap one ($50) at the salvage yard. The capacitor swap is not all that hard. It was my first attempt at it and I was able to change them.
Plus if it is the ECU the capacitors are quite cheap.
I feel for both of you. I myself had the same issue. After testing ( and replacing most) of the ignition system, O2 sensor, and getting the run around from SATAN. I found my problem to be the ECU. One of the capacitors leaked. I let this go to long cause I replaced the capacitors and still...
My passenger seat belt stopped working. Ended up replacing the track. Got it from the salvage yard. But with mine you were able to pull it back and forth along the track (when it was broke).
I think white rims look cheesy....(sorry all you with them)....reminds me of mag wheels for my GT Perfomer.......Also if you brakes are anything like mine there is going to be tons of break dust on them........Nothing looks nicer that a shiny set of polished chrome rims.........my $.02
I want to rebuild my turbo, providing it's not shot. It's a '92 stock. Where can I go about buying a rebuild kit and how much? Don't say the dealer, they are of no help.
You can try to fix it yourself...not to hard......only a couple of bucks.Check out this site for detailed information:

It may be more of what stupid things haven't I done......I gain most knowledge from trial and error.***Key in point*** When checking spark don't stick screwdriver in end of spark plug wire and hold the metal part.
