I just got my car back together and im having alot of little problems, one of them being i live near chicago and have NO HEAT. The classic heater core blowing syptoms havent happened. i just have no heat. when the car is on and the selector is to cold its DAMN cold i move it to hot, it warms...

SO, im doing what the title said, i wired the power and ground....i hooked it up to the door wires for my power locks....and for some reason when i hit the lock or unlock button on the remte...its clicks like its TRYING to operate the switch but yet...doesnt do anything...am i supposed to wire...
but that still doesnt explain as to why my car could run fine one minute and then just die with no tbelt breaking or losing any pistons. Im starting to think my only choice is either give up on my DSM, replace the engine completly, or...well i dont even know what........
So i couldnt figure out what was wrong with my car so i took it to a local shop, they informed me that my FPR was spitting and i had a crack in my ecxhaust manifold(i knoew about the crack its not major) but then they also said i had a comp test of 0 on all 4 cylinders.....what conditions do you...
I was driving my Non-turbo Dsm today and out of no where it just stopped. Didnt make any weird noises didnt sound like anything broke the engine just died. Nothing in the engine bay seems broken. Plugs spark, starter is turning i even smell gas if i try to start it for to long but for some...
So yesterdy i installed a new shift knob on my new 92 auto dsm and while doing this the over drive button broke. The way home the car seemed likeit was stuck in second the whole time no matter where i put the shifter. Today i went to the junkyard and got an eco/pwr button(because that didnt...
thanks.....i was wondering which one i should go with and i figured the 190 because im not using CRAZY big injectors....and i was worried about over pressurizing my fuel rail.
Ok so, the cat wasnt my problem but still the car runs choppy. It doesnt move. You hit the gas and it chokes, compression is good - spark is good - intake is good. I did find a stipped bolt on my turbo where the oil return line mounts, so im replacing the TD04 with a TD05-H asap. Other than...
i had a 91 esi and i bought a 91 tsi for 500 and swapped over everything......im thinking maybe the fuel pump right now. i cut the cat out and it did nothing for me. plus i found out that one of the bolts on my oil return line(on the turbo) was stripped.
alright so i just went out to the car to try and read my engine codes cause ive been getting a check engine light for a little while now. I dont know why tho. But anyhow....i cant get a reading. I dont know why but i cant seem to get a reading at ALL.
naw no oil anywhere but from my pcv valve as far as the intake is concenred. im gonna cut the cat out tomarrow and if that works then im gonna go have a high flow one put in at my exhaust shop(magnaflow 60 with install)
plugs wires and coil pack ive checked. all are good. I was once told that the 2.0 fuel pump and the turbo fuel pump are the same so that isnt a issue...but i will check into that...thanks
one thing i forget to say, the car doesnt seem to be running rich at all, i dont smell any gas and the exhaust smells like exhaust. Im not sure whats causing this problem any help would be great
Last summer i Bought a 91 Tsi Fwd for 500 dollars...with a good tranny, engine, ecu, wiring harness, sensors, intake, and exhaust.I already owned a 91 Esi with a frame and title so i decided to to the swap.I proceed to swap out first the wiring harness and ecu. Then the gauge cluster...
ok so. i drilled some holes in the cat instead of taking it out....6 holes actually. it seemed to help a little but yet the car still seems reluctant to move. it still feels like its choking...maybe not as much but it still isnt good. i dont know what to try now. my turbo looks fine no spool...
oh yeah i forgot, 1,000 in stereo, 2,500 to buy the car in the first place and countless oil changes, timing belts, and tune ups over the past 3 years.....prolly about 10,000...but HEY whos counting.......DSM = Broke Ass (for some anyway)
im really hoping its not the cat. my car USED to be an NT and i did the swap last summer. WHen i did it i had to take the exhaust off my turbo parts car and put it on my NT in ONE piece cause all the connecting bolts were rusted to the flanges but the exhaust its self was all good and larger...
im actually at work so i cant go out now and check, the turbo is a tdo4 and it was stock, its never been rebuilt(as far as i know) and there is no spool play and it spins freely. Ill check the cat when i get home tonite. I checked the fluids yesterday and the oil was a good color good...
My wires are brand new, but my plugs do look a little too black so it could be those, as for the intake thing i didnt even think of that. Also...i seem to burning some oil...but the smoke is coing from my CAT? is my turbo doing something it shouldnt be? I havent used any racing fuel. Thanks...
Just got my car back from the tranny shop 3 days ago. The tranny is great but the car woudlnt stay running. So i figured out my ecu was bad and replaced it. Then i started it up and for some reason im getting NO acceleration, it revs fine when at a stop....i mean it stutters a little through...
in case anyone cares about this thread. i did a comp check and it came out 150-155 all acrossthere is still hesitation in the car tho and i dont know why
I have a 91 Esi with a 91 Tsi wiring harness, engine, ecu, dash cluster, tranny, and everything else in the engine bay. I completed the NT to turbo conversation about 3 months ago. Since then i have had a fair share of bugs to work out.Today i replaced the ecu(because my caps burned out)...

Above is a link to the strut tower bar my buddy bought....i dont know if i think it was a very good investment. Let me know whatcha think.
something very similar happened to me in my 91 Tsi(if you search my posts youll notice that i have ALOT of problems with my dsm).....so what ended up being the problem with my car was that i ahd broken the shift fork in the tranny. now if you got the rest of the way home with no major problems...
fuel pump is good...could be the cas....ill check that tonite. Someone locally told me the ISC or the TPS.....does either sound possible...oh and if anyone has had this problem let me know....email is [email protected]
need to know some info here......what came with the engine(head, flywheel, tranny, fuel rail, injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds.....)i did the n/t to turbo swap last summer(swaped tranny, engine, exhaust, manifolds, wiring harnesses, everything.............so let me know what you have...
pull you timing belt cover off and check all the belts....the knocking could be a loose pulley. Also the one "behind the engine" is your a/c compressor
is the trans your puttin on the original one?(i had a simliar problem with my N/t to turbo conversation on my 1st gen) Other than that i would jsut try various positions until it meets up.....if it came off with no issue it should go on with no issues...............
