    Balance shaft delete question

Like Pauly said the stock balance shaft has a bore in it and that is where the bearing on the oil pump side shaft gets it's lubrication. You can cut it and weld it but i would advise against it. Just get a OEM stub shaft and be done with it. Alternatively you can turn down the stock shaft and...

    Resolved Turbo choice

That particular FP black was actually on an open housing. Just happens it was on a 10.5:1 2.4 LR. It would be nice if there was an affordable option but sadly there just isn't. IMHO opinion though there are better turbos out there without breaking the bank.

    Resolved Turbo choice

We've made 768whp on the Evo Black at 42 psi and had that 42 psi by 4200. The DSM Black probably won't perform as well though, Even then once you start pushing the BB Blacks past 38 psi they don't live long.Me? I will stick with the HX40 JusMX141 built. 3586 power potential and half the...

Safe rpm range for revving newly rebuilt engine?

I break in all my engine at full power and full rev range on the dyno. First startup I run cheap 40 weight oil, Get the engine running and up to operating temp. Verify there are no leaks and make sure everything is good to go. After verifying everything is good to go I switch to the intended...

Main bearing radial scratch, possibly from new Manley crank?

Yep, Looks like some particles made there way onto the bearings or the crankshaft during assembly. When you say you run your nail down the crank journal and it is not flush what do you mean? I think you are mistaking the Fillet Radii for a defect in the crankshaft.

    6-Bolt in a 2g auto trans

Buy the Kiggly parts and be done with it. Everything will work correctly with the kit. The reason this kit is needed is without it you will damage the Transmission pump due to having the incorrect torque converter spacing. The Kiggly flexplate is also a beefy piece as well. Kevin is a...

First gear slippage with high idle

My stock converter in my 96 is pretty rusty. people left the dust shields off so moisture gets in there and it starts to rust.It won't harm anything though. While you have the trans apart I would recommend putting the Kiggly Flexplate in it. I put one in mine for piece of mind and for...

    2G auto AEM Series 2

I ended up figuring it out this morning after some research. I pulled ECMLink out of the car which I daily drive. Put the AEM in and it would not turn over.Research stated that Pin 91 for the NSS had to be depinned. I removed that wire from the ECU and it started right up after I loaded a...

I am trying to gather some information. I just picked up a series 2 AEM EMS.This is for my 96 Auto AWD Talon. I have read that it is not for auto cars but I know the ECU's between the auto and the manual are the same. What I plan to do is do the kiggly wiring for full manual control of...

Good call Snowboarder714. I saw that was checked but failed to look at what year his car is.To the OP, if you have a 95/96 That box does not need to be checked. When you checked that box did you also swap the plug wires? If you did then uncheck the box and swap the plug wires back to there...

    Stainless steel or Evo valves?

Of course either is a bad thing but DSM valves will bend but late Model Sodium Filled Exhaust valves will not bend, they will snap right off.
  22. white92talontsi

    Stainless steel or Evo valves?

Evo Valves are great but they have 1 drawback. The the car ever jumps time they will break right where the stem meets the head of the valve.

Broken Transmission!(literally), any Ideas how it happened?

Judging by the Spray bombed valve cover while it was still bolted up I would venture to say whoever installed the Flywheel/Clutch did not know what they were doing and let either the flywheel or the pressure plate bolts loose.

    long rod stroker problems

I don't want to argue about it over and over but the reason the dish is different is because of stroke. The 2.0 piston requires less dish because it has less stroke. The 2.3 piston requires more dish because it has more stroke. That is how piston manufacturers get the compression lower on...
  25. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

You are right, I am also right as well. The dish is different. the only reason the dish is different is because the stroke is different between the 2 engines.Stroke plays the biggest role in determining final compression.
  26. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

You guys really are clueless. Now I realize why I never come on this site anymore.Ok, now your starting to get a little aggravating. A 2.3 liter piston is designed for a crank that has 100mm of stroke. The compression height of the piston as well as the dish are made to work with the...
  27. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

It does not matter what you do as far as moving the wrist pin up and using longer rods as it is not changing the stroke. You still have a total of 88mm of stroke in a long rod 2.0. Now put a piston on that rod that was designed for a 100mm stroke.Really simple.Correct, a long rod...
  28. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

I guess you guys just don't get it.A 2.3 liter piston was designed for a 100mm stroke. Put said 2.3 stroker piston on a 88mm stroke crankshaft and you lose compression. It's really simple.
  29. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

I have no idea what you were trying to say right there. You can do as you please, I told you what the differences are and you can choose whatever path you like.
  30. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

Yes, all that stuff does change compression, Minimal changes though. The number 1 biggest factor that determines compression is the stroke.
  31. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

Then I would suggest before building your engine to read on how everything inside an engine works. Here is a 2.3 stroker piston on a 88mm crankshaft and 156mm rods. the pistons are advertised as 9.0:1.As you can see since we used a piston designed for a 100mm stroke then losing 12mm of...
  32. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

You are not changing the stroke in a long rod configuration. The only way you can change the stroke is with the crankshaft.
  33. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

Because you are putting a piston in an engine that was designed for a 100mm stroke on a 88mm stroke crankshaft.
  34. white92talontsi

    long rod stroker problems

If you are using the same 2.3 stroker pistons and decide to do the 2.0 long rod you will lose around a full point of compression.

Groove in crank shaft end. Normal? Fix? (pics)

Another fix is to remove the spring from the inside of the seal. Twist it and the spring will unhook. You can then cut a couple coils off it and put it back together to tighten up the seal. Chances are it won't leak with what you have right there.

Piston Wall clearance Should I Rebore?

Do you actually know what the current Piston to wall clearance is?You can run different brand bearings in the mains and the rods but you do not want to run different brands in say the mains like half clevite and half ACL.

ECMlink Stock VS My Timing table.

Assuming your sig is correct then that timing is way too low.You should run around 3-4 degrees at peak boost and depending on your setup you should be able to carry around 14-16 degrees up top on pump 93 and 20+psi.

Mechanical oil pressure gauges - idle accuracy

You can still continue to cut it open. You will tell if there is any bearing material in there after its open by spreading the element apart and looking and the outside of it and not the inside. If you see any metal in it try using a magnet and see if it will stick to it. If there is anything...

Mechanical oil pressure gauges - idle accuracy

High tolerance would be around .0019-.002" in the FSM. I can tell you this, At .002 you should not have any issues with low idle oil pressure. Last motor I put together was a 4g64 with the Mains at .002. No balance shafts and no oil squirters.Hot idle oil pressure is 40-42psi and I ported...

Build a bulletproof shortblock. How would YOU do it?

What do you want. You asked for a setup for a drag only car. Now you mention driving on the street.Aluminum Rods do not free up horsepower. First they are lighter than a steel rod. The biggest benefit to aluminum rods is it acts like a shock absorber and in turn this reduces the hammering on...
