Thats what i thought it to end up being was a wire chasing thing for continuity, but never did it. I sold that car that it had the problem with. hopefully my GSX wont give me that problem. I couldnt stand that minor little thing with my ncar always bugged the crap out of me.
Yes, that is the correct way to get the guages apart etc. Then try out different LEDs and flex strips, like shown in the pics. I would like to make a set of all guages etc, with color changing leds in them, to set on color wash or change ffrom purple to green, to any shade of color.
Well after trying out blue LEDS and understanding how harsh they are on the eyes when night driving, i decided to go with all red everthing for guage clusters, instruments, etc. The red looks orange in some pics, but its not. Its all a nice deep red. Very easy on the eyes when night driving. Let...
I am lookng for a part number to an OEM gear like the one in this pic and also the part number for the nut that secures it, if there is one. This is for a 1g 6bolt engine. Thanks for your help.
I got my 2g belt on that way, i just wondered if anyone had compared teh 1g belt to 2g abnd if it was a tad longer i would buy one, or a prt number for one from NAPA or something that would be a good fit.
Im not using a topline, although i have one. I was just going to use that gear that came with it. Im looking for an OEM one right now but cant find an online vendor or part number for it. Whats that gear in the first picture even called?
You mean replace the pump seal as in this one?EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - OEM Oil Pump Front Cover Gasket : Mitsubishi Eclipse 6 BoltNo it was an oem front cover and pump with oem gears. The topline gear is something i has laying around. What is a part...
The shortblock already came assembled through SBR. So im guessing the rings were done right. SHould teh ring "eventually" seat themselves? or do i have a big problem to worry about? I bought an dipstick with a spring "STM" that holds it on better, but want to fix the problem also. My old...
I had my oil pump front cover and gears sieze up or the bolt came off and i used red thread locker an torqued to proper spec. It obviosly came loose, so how much further past 30 ft lbs should i torque it to? I dont want this happening again. It made my timing jump teeth and caught my timing belt...
My PS belt is too short on my 6 bolt engine swap. About a half inch too short. Is a 1g Power steering belt a tad longer? If not does anyone know of a part number of belt that is the right length to work?
I did get on it and boost just about 5 times with the brand new engine. Would this forever cause my piston rings not to seat properly? Other than that i have driven smoothly.
Brand new engine and the dipstick keep blowing out and getting oil on my valve cover etc. Why is it doing this? Is this a major problem that i should NOT be having with this new engine? I have balance shafts removed, if this is a factor and 9:0 compression. Thanks

I just put together my second 6 bolt in this car and the 3rd day driving it, the front cover/ oil pump gear area got really messed up and i swear it torqued everything right and did things exactly right. I had a brand new OEM oil pump front cover, oil pump driven gears. I lost oil pressure all...
Oil pump gear bolt came loose and started wallowing of its hole, then jumping the timing belt teeth. The oil pump gear got so hot that it caugfht the timing belt cover on fire. There are now metal shavings in my brand new engine a nd possibly bent valves because of the timing jumping teeth. I am...
Well, i didnt have access to tools this week, so i towed it to Mitsu Dealer :( I thinki im just going to have them diagnose what it is and then tow it to the garage i originally put the engine in. I hope my shortblock internals arene messed up. i'll keep posted. Thank you guys for your help in...
What caugh fire is the timing belt cover plastic. When i smothered the fire at the botttom of the timin belt cover, it was all burnt plastic on the rag. It looks as if that cog got super hot somehow and melted the timing belt cover right into it. I primed my oil pump and everything. The car made...
I just spent $10000 on this brand new engine, had it running for 3 days and i started hearing the belt squeal, and i parked and the timing belt cover had caught fire on the belt, BUT cog on the far right rear of the engine, that timing belt goes around. That gear is melted through the timing...
On my 2g theres a single red wire that connects and is the function for the gauge cluster temp. The one with 2 black wires if unhooked, makes my car not run, or run like crap. It must be checked by the ECU then, and messing with overall function of the car running. Just my opinion, as i still...
I tried to wire in resistors i bought off ebay and installed them exactly like it said adn they still flashed fast. I am trying to kill these fast flashing bulbs in the next couple weeks. Can anyone show me exactly "as in a picture of the back of tailight sockets" and circle where to put the...
Thank you for the info guys. That will be my new way of doing the MBC connection. I will leave it like that.
My BOV used to be a lot louder, but its not loud at all now "its 10 years old" I heard it flutter a few time..."not sure why" I am starting to think a need a new BOV now, but how do...
I ran the MBC in between the intake manifold vacuum and the wastegate nipple and i have controlled boost now. I wonder why it wasnt giving me control when tee'd off at the BOV? I had it all set up the same basically, just took the BOV out of the picture. So is this method way ok, without...
So if the wastegate is set to open at 10 lbs on a 16g, im just wondering how it opened at 10psi and then held that at WOT at exactly 10 psi the whole time. Im wondering why this Dejon pipe didnt come with a barb fitting :( I took apart the MBC and can blow into one end, with air seeping out the...
I have heard of people getting no speedometer and no odometer, but i am getting some...My spedometer goes up to 20mph and then stops and my odometer tries to flip numbers but is flenching and not turning them. I took off the front plastic to the cluster to feel the needle for catching. Its very...
It wasnt getting fuel and the fuel had been in there for 2 years. I got some new upgraded fuel and filled it and it runs. Still runs like crap since i did the 6 bolt engine install, but it runs again. ThanksCould i have hurt anything in the engine by repeatedly starting it like this? Or was...
No, its tee'd into the intake mani. I will do this proper MBC thing when i get access to a drill and find a barbed fitting somewhere."toofast82: If you don't run vacuum to the wastegate, it will not see pressure. That will cause it NOT to open at all. DO NOT do this."^ Then someone...
I need a new plug with at least 2-3 inches of wire coming out, iugrad92turbo. Pm me, i would like to buy one from you. Even though i soldered this, its still very brittle cause the wires broke off right at the plug. I wasnt sure that this wire alone would keep the car from starting, but i do...
OK, I disconnected the MBC and ran a vacuum from the top vac fitting on the intake manifold, straight to the wastegate nipple and went for a drive. The car now boosts to 10 psi, solid. Even at WOT the boost hits 10 psi and stops. No MBC at all. So is my wastegate functioning properly? Should i...
My car wasnt starting on the first try and then i saw this black plug with 2 black wires coming off of it. Aftar i soldered the connection, i did a couple other things "messed with fuses" etc and the car started. Do these go straight to the ECU and keep the car from starting? My car currently...
This is "THE" problem of my uncontrollable boost? I had boost like this before  Heres a pic of the the MBC was hooked. I dont have a nipple to drill in the j-pipe, and guess i need to start reading on what size threading that would be and what size drill bit. I know you are spotting...
My 6bolt engine has been starting and running like crap, but it has been running. Today i go out to the car and it doesnt start at all. It doesnt even act like it wants to start. I have to fix this today hopefully. Please help me out. I will be checking this and trying to get it to start all...
Theres the boost gauge in the video shown boosting to 20 psi at only 3500 rpm of slow acceleration. Im not sure about the statement " wastegates working or it wouldnt have stopped at 20psi" i let off the gas myself right as i saw the boost shooting that high. So what should i expect when...
I just got a brand new Evo3 16g installed along with a new 1g complete engine. I went for a drive for the first time and i can barely put my foot on tha gas and drive the car beacuse the boost is totally out of control. YouTube - Uncontrollable boost on "new" MHI Evo 3, 16g Turbo Help
The rpms...
I just installed a brand new 6 bolt engine with EVO3 turbo and my boost shoots way up to 20 psi with barely any foot on gas. This is a brand new turbo, how could anything be stuck? I disonnected the wastegate tube and plugged it with a rubber nipple, then tried it with it unplugged completely...
The drivers side is the AC actuated side. I have them hooked only into the passenger side and they both turn on at the same time when the temp gets in range. Thanks
So is it ok to get those "heater wires" switched? Your right about solder not wanting to stick. I was soldering about 8 inches away from the sensor. Thank you for indentifying the wires, but what is teh answer? Are they both heater wires, therefore it doesnt matter if they were mixed or swapped...
