I think at least for the gauge issue, it may just be the bulb as it is only a portion of the panel. But for the license plate light it can be a number of things. Also, do you think me disconnecting the wing/third brake light has anything to do with that issue. I still haven't reconnected ti...
A few days ago I noticed that the lights over the license plate on my 98 RS dont work at all. I tested the bulbs and know it is the light itself. Then last night while driving, I noticed that the left side of the MPH gauge (factory) and needle had gone out. Will have to check asap to atleast get...
The oil level is fine. The light always will come on when the engine is about to stall. Thats what i was trying to say. That while cruising at high speeds or like yesterday night, it tries to stall when i am in neutral. Right when its goes into neutral the rpm gauge just drops all the way down...
Ok. I've seen threads with similar issues but none really seem to be pertaining to what my issue is.Randomly, when i start my car (98 RS w/ head job about 3 mths ago) it will sputter for a second then idle normal. Then sometimes when i move off, it stutters a bit then takes off. Almost like...
Im having a simalar issue after a head rebuild too. But the only difference is that I received a CEL for a shorted IAS/IAS/IV motor circuit. Does anyone know where I could get one for a reasonable price her in Atlanta. Dealerships wants $130 but im still trying to recover from the head job...
Ok. Things were good after rebuilding my head after my Timing Belt Scare. But now my car runs ummmmmm.................SHITTY. Every other time I start the car, it wants to stall or struggles to but eventually gets back to a normal idling range (sometimes with the help of a lil gas). Other times...
The thing is that it wasn't just cutting off. I would loose all throttle power (rpm/mph gauges drop) it would roll to a stop and then cut off where oil light was on. Then it would take it while to restart. That was random. Now after a few days, the car just starts up but idles terribly at...
Okay. Car is now back on the road after rebuilt head and new "Major Tune Up Items". It ran fine all day then cut off on me on the highway while cruising @ about 75mph. Car would crank but never start. Took it back to the shop and after really nothing it started but still randomly shut off while...
I can fall back on my parents if needed but i dont really have a range. Just trying to cut corners in places that wont come back to haunt me. The main things im unsure of whether to buy at dealer or advanced is like the water pump, and timing belt/tensioners.The rest if the items are price...
One more thing, what price would you guys say would be descent for a private mechanic to charge to pull head, reinstall after it machined by another shop and do timing belt and water pump and stuff while hes in?just wonderingthanks
This thread kinda went off track a little a while back but thats okay. Now i've reached point where i will be basically doing the complete head job including machining, timing belt, waterpump etc. What i would like to know if from personal experience, which parts should i definently buy from the...
engine never starts, so I no longer get the "check engine" light. Pulled timing belt cover off and look like some groves are missing on various spots of belt. What type of damage would you guys guess i've done and what all do you think will be neccesary in terms of work to be done.Mc
Okay. About 2 days ago i had a check engine light come on, but had to wait til the weekend to get it checked. Today when I go to turn my car on, it starts for a second, backfires and shuts off. OMG I try to start it up again and i just backfires but wont start. Now it wont do anything but make...
Okay. The story is that about 3 mths ago I changed out the clutch on my 98 RS. After the job, everything seemed fine but i noticed i was seeing more spots in my garage that were splashing further than before the job. Think it was tranny fluid. And now, whenever i start the car, i can hear...
Im not sure if my problem is the same as what the original poster is refering to but both my 3rd and 5th gears jump out when im cruising. I can be just cruising on the highway and all of a sudden i hear the revs jump for a second and see the gear stick pop back into nuetral out of the corner of...
I figured that probably would be the smartest permanent fix but I was looking for a cheap alternative to use for the moment. 6 months is actually a long time if you can do it yourself.Anymore suggestions would be greatly appreciated.ThanksI did come across some stuff from 3M...
Ok. I have a horizontal crack, about a foot long n looks to be spreading, in the side of my front bumper cover and am looking for a way to repair this as cheaply as possible. I have been warned against using many epoxys and hardeners because of the fact that most of them do not have alot of...
I meant I did the same exact thing to fix my problem. The only thing I can think of is a relay or a short. I guess you could trace the wires and test the voltages.
I fixed mine too. Same thing. I went to a salvage yard and they required that I buy the whole steering column for $50.00. And out of desperation and just the need to fix this problem, I did it. But $50 aint that bad considering the awkward feeling I had not having a turn signal. Thanks for...
Checked the master cylinder today and saw that it was leaking a little on the inside of the car. Not enough to be noticable unless I was looking for the leak. I am going to go ahead and replace that and the release (slave) cylinder as well. I will have to wait until I get the tranny cracked open...
Okay I will check those tomorrow. Do those cylinders leak "hydralic clutch fluid" when they leak? I checked my little clutch resevior in the engine bay after getting it to the shop and noticed it was empty. Just had sludge, and I do remember seening some dark colored drip marks on my garage...
1. Clutch was bought as a complete set, everything was new
2. Everything was installed by a MOPAR technician (my cousin) and I have alot of faith in his work.
3 & 4. Im pretty sure I was very cautious with the clutch when I first had it installed, but I was so excited to have a working clutch...
Just last winter, I replaced the clutch on my car for the first time at 160,000 miles. Stopped at a stop sign, engaged the clutch and felt it pop. I bought a clutch that was made by SACHS and all was well when I got that in. Car felt like night and day. Guess when I bought it the clutch had been...
Did you ever fix the turn signal problem you were having on your dsm? Just tonight I was coming home from work, made a hard right and when I straightened up, I noticed that my driver side turn signal kept on blinking no matter what position the stalk was in. Both lights flash when the harzards...
Im having that same turn signal problem with my DSM. Turned it on, made a left turn and now it stays on no matter what position the stalk is in. So im guessing that all i have to do replace that relay. If so, whats the best way to get to it?
Okay. I bought my 98 RS with 120,000 miles and now im up to 165,000 miles. And just the other night, my PS belt flew off because it was so worn and I saw this as a sign to give my car a real tune up and not the simple tune up I planned on giving it. I am listing the parts I plan to change in...
I checked my linkages and they seem intact. I am able to move the further rod that controls 3rd and 4th in and out of gears. But the closer rod that conrols 1st and 2nd doesn't budge. Im not sure if this has anything to do with anything but I figure it would hurt. I plan on pulling the tranny...

Im having this same problem . The only difference is that my clutch pedal returned from the floor and I felt a pop through my pedal when it all started.marlon
*Update*I went out to my car this morning and I now want to add that I can change gears easier with the clutch engaged than without. Its feels almost like I have to force the car into gear when im not using the clutch but I can gear smoothly with the clutch engaged. (which seems close to...
Okay. Tonight I was on my way back from out of town. I stopped at a stop sign and as I stopped, I felt a "pop" or "snap" through my clutch pedal while I was pushing it down. After that the car wouldn't go into gear (even with clutch engaged) and just sat in neutral. In an attempt to get the car...
I was planning on putting a security system on my 98 eclipse RS and I wanted some opinions. I was going to go with one of the Compustar 1WFM (not the 2 way) system and some door lock actuators to complete the install. I heard alot of people complain about their aftermarket actuators falling...
Okay. If I understand correctly. Crossovers act as switchboards that send different frequencies different speakers in the car. (lows to subs, highs to tweeters, mids to mid-range). With that being said, my 98' eclipse has 1 set of 3.5" speakers and two sets of 6.5" speakers (front and rear)...
Im back in the market for tires and would like to hear some more opinions about some. I currently am using the Kumho 712 supras, but im starting to question their durability. I've had 2 in the past year get a lump on the side and I think their wearing a little bit too fast.let me know what...
I have 98' eclipse that has some very.......("how could I put it"?)... :thumbdown .....UNATTRACTIVE seats. Which are pictured below. My plans are to get these reupholstered straight, black cloth. :thumb: With or without piping. I am not really into the bright racing seats and am just looking...
I am ready to upgrade the rear speakers in my eclipse. It looks like the ones in there from the factory are either 6 1/2 or 6 3/4. But it lloks like I should be able to fit in a 6x9 speaker. Please check my pics and let me know what size speakers I could use.thanksmarlonPics Below
Hi,I own a 98 RS, which doesn't come with the sideskirts that are seen on the higher models. My car is currently in the body shop on an insurance job and the body is offering me some GS sideskirts. The only thing I want to know is, will it be a straight-forward, bolt-on job, or will I need...
