As long as I have all the parts before hand, I can bang one those jobs out in an hour and a half, 1 hour and 15 to R&R and 15 mins to cut the flywheel.
Thats about right with the labor. Yes it is possible for him to the car around, you can either leave the axles in and tie them up or I have a setup at work for FWD and AWD cars. All you use if you do remove the axles, you dont always have to remove the axles from the hub, is a bolt, a couple...
I would tear down all the shafts, clean everything and inspect the parts. If he drove around with any broken parts in it, they could have got in between the gears, bearings or other parts. If metal got into the bearings and grooved the races it wont be long before the tranny fails. Any damage...
On the 2g n/t with the 420a motor the clutch is all one package. The clutch assembly is riveted to a regular flywheel and then you just bolt the whole thing to the automatic flywheel thats on the car, it bolts on w/ four 18mm bolts.
I thought I heard they were making a dogbox or at least some straight cuts to fit in the original case. I could be wrong but thats what I would like for my car$$$$.:D
Oh yeah thats right he has a chrysler Ive done a few of those clutchs in the Cirrus and other chryslers. I actually have one of those trannies out of a 95 n/t if anyones interested.
I forget the web address but just try searching for Power performance parts. Theres a couple of companies in the U.S. that imports them too, Ill try and find them again and Ill let you know.
Go with a Clutch masters, I used an ACT years ago and it holds the power just fine but it puts alot of unwanted stress to the bottom end, plus the pedal in the clutch masters is as soft as stock. There is a company located out of japan called Power Enterprise and they do make upgraded bearings...
Most dog gears are straight cut gears not helical cut like the stock ones. Reverse gear in the stock tranny is straight cut, like that cool whining sound it makes when you use it? Well get use to it if you plan on using a dog box. They are very noisy in every gear because of the straight cut...
I would have the tranny rebuilt. Theres no performance transmissions for an eclipse, unless you get a ralliart dogbox $10k-$15k, the so-called "performance modifications" performed by some people are not new. I have been doing these for about 4 years. The double synchro is factory on certain...
Ive done plenty, its my daily job, it really depends on how good you are. Just pay attention to what you are doing and remember how things go. Start from the end cover and work your way to the bell housing.
You should see at least very light markings on the pressure plate if he used it for a few minutes or longer. As far as the disk youd have to look at the fibers on the disk for some shiny glazed areas.
Well first when you push the clutch pedal down youre not engaging it your disengaging the clutch and 3/4 is about right. Do you put it right in to reverse after pressing the clutch in? If so try giving it a second or so before trying to put in to reverse.
Buschur doesnt own that car anymore, I know who owns it his name is Bruce he was supposed to race it 2 weeks ago but it rained. That car isnt close to being stock it has a tube frame front end, motor is mounted in the longitude position, it uses a GM Powerglide auto trans, and one hell of a...
Actually the stock 14b falls off at about 5500rpms and will make about 300 hp max. The small 16g will make about 340 max, and the big 16g will make about 375 max. They are both good turbos especially for the street, they are cheaper than hybrids. Physically from the outside they look the same...
his car is auto he doesnt have shift forks. Your trans sounds like it has an electrical problem, maybe a stuck solenoid, they are known for electrical problems more than internal failures, although they do that too. Take it to a trans shop, not the dealer they dont know theyll just try and...
No this wouldnt be a modulator problem, your trans doesnt have one anyway. Auto trans are hard to diagnose without having a scanner, like one from SNAP-ON, and a pressure gauge on the trans. Mitsubishi auto trannys are known for electrical problems, solenoids, speed sensors, etc... If your...
Bottom end power? You have a 4 cylinder remember, if you want bottom end power buy a v8. And if anything a turbo does add to bottom end power big time compare 2 of the same motors, one turbo the other n/a, the turbo will make its peak torque at about 3000-3400 rpm with a street turbo, and the...
If you have ever done a timing belt then take the timing belt off first then you can unbolt the camshafts and youll be able to get those lifters out real easy, and I dont recommend cleaning them just call mitsubishi and buy a new set,a new set for me was $150 but its going to be about $210 for...
Save your bearings and buy a clutchmasters clutch, I know ive owned an act 2600 and theyre noisy, and the pedal is like a rock. They do hold the power but thats about the only thing good about them. I have a clutchmasters stage 4 in my car and the pedal is like stock if not softer, no noises...
First if your losing compression you should do a leak-down test to see where your losing compression. If your putting new valves in thats something you cant do by yourself, the new valves and seats must be cut and lapped. If you dont then your going to lose more compression than you are now...
Im assuming you have an auto because you said you have to rev the engine to get it to shift, its hard to try and diagnose auto problems without putting a scanner and a psi gauge on the trans, so you should bring your car to a shop that can do this, prefferably a trans shop general repair shops...
Pulling an auto is going to be harder, especially if its on the ground. You can take the trans out w/o the engine. As far as where to get one I would either buy a new one, (call mitsu) or have a shop rebuild it, DO NOT buy a used one unless you know it works.
The reason for your grind into gears is the synchro assembly is worn out. But your probably going to find more things worn out, bearings, gears and other synchro assemblys, when you or a shop tears it down. The reason the trans doesnt grind(or grind as bad) when its cold is because the fluid...
In order for you to take the bellhousing off you have to start to dissassemble the trans from the 5 gear assembly cover. Remove the two 36mm nuts, take the snap ring off the viscous coupling, punch the roll pin out of the shift fork, remove the 5 gear assembly, the counter gear, the detent...
You can make yor own kit all you need is the two bushings for the balance shafts, you can get them from mitsu, remove the old ones install the new ones so that the bushing BLOCKS the oil passage in the block, you will have to find some GOOD way of blocking the hole in the cover, freeze plug or...
About the starion fmic I used to use that one before and it worked better than the stock one, not by giving me horse power maybe a few more but it didnt heat soak like the stock one. If you can get it for cheap, i mean not more than $40-50then i would do it considering you said you werent...
