Wow it's been over three years since I posted anything. Mainly because COVID made recovery of the car a royal pain in the ass. Long and short of things is:
- 2021 spent waiting on the race fab shop to get the new aero stuff on. That didn't go quite well because of many reasons. Aero is hard...
I can't answer that question, but have you considered just not running the dust shields? As long as you keep the brake lines secured so they won't get close to the rotor you really don't need them.
When I had similar behavior in the past it was one of three things:
- cable went bad. they annoyingly go bad sometimes, so I keep a spare now.
- wiring. after cable changes didn't fix it the second time I dug around and found the idiot prior owner had kind of hacked up the obd2 data lines...
This is brand new, never used. Fully electronic gauge. Lights up blue, and has peak/hold and warning indicators, and can be connected to a buzzer for a warning alert. It has a tiny dent in the face I guess from bouncing around the box. Comes with everything including the original box...
For Sale are two OEM 4g63 spark plug covers. In pretty good condition. One is better than the other. First come first serve. $30 for the nicer one, $25 for the other. Shipping extra. Payment via Paypal.
Used on my Time Attack Eclipse. I chose this intake manifold because Andrew Brilliant tested various manifolds and found this one to be the best at providing the largest torque curve for his record breaking time attack Eclipse (at the time, could be newer designs trump it). It's been...
You can see a lot of mods in my car's profile https://www.dsmtuners.com/dsm-profiles/john-freunds-time-attack-99-eclipse-gsx.1768/
I use an Evo 3 oil filter housing. I have a 1/8" NPT VDO sensor as I originally was using a VDO gauge, and now it's connected to my RaceCapture Pro datalogger...
I would never in my life choose no ABS. It can absolutely save your life, or at least your car, in even what you might think are mild weather conditions. I find the OEM Nippon Denso system on my 99 gsx invaluable for saving my tires from flat spotting in dry conditions. Could it be better...
The security dash indicator isn't related to that alarm system, but rather it's for the built-in immobilizer that came from the factory. It lighting up just means you still have that in the car. Those wires aren't OEM so likely you have an aftermarket system that yes looks like it was cut...
If I recall when I had them I used 3g eclipse ones and they were markedly better. When I was developing and using an intercooler sprayer I used some Japanese sprayers I picked up over there and they were awesome, a nice wide flat spray pattern. I have no specifics on that, I literally popped...
I'll save everyone the time, just use Girodisc Magic Pads (I'd imagine they must be available for this page shape) for street (great stopping power, super low dust and the dust comes right off) and G-LOC pads for the track (absolutely outstanding stopping power, low dust, and again the dust...
All these gauges are in great condition. Used and sold as-is but I do guantee they are functional.Apex-I EL Series Water Temp gauge, used - $75 + shipping
- Has a blue backlight, warning light feature, and peak/hold capability. Perfectly working, was used in my car race car until I moved to...
On those replacement arms, please monitor them. My experience isn't really the same as most cars with all the high g loads I see on the race track but I had a set of arms like those (mine were from Megan Racing but they looked exactly like those except in blue) and their u-shaped brackets...
I'd be interested in whether or not you can get caster adjustability by extend the anchor points differently. I only get around 5 deg caster with my spc arms and I'd like to be up to 7, while still getting up to -3.5 camber. I feel like I'm making a wish list for your pet project... just...
In my experience the two things that come to mind for causes for losing power after opening throttle are:
- TPS isn't working right (in my case the plug kept working its way loose while driving, solution was adding a drop of RTV whenever I plug it in)
- Coolant Temp Sensor is disconnected, the...
At that height you'll probably need to cut into the floor mounting areas and possibly reinforce from underneath the car in order to get the safe clearance for your noggin. It's what I had to do for my racing seat so my helmet had good clearance and I'm just under 5'10".
One to consider is the soon to be released Prusa XL. Multiple head options with automatic changing, CoreXY, huge size, built in enclosure shade option, smaller heat beds comprising the overall print bed... to name a few things. It's pretty awesome. I put a downpayment on mine when it was...
ASA is everything you said, basically better than ABS for all those reasons, but has the same challenges if you're new to both. That includes fumes that may be toxic emitted while printing and it is prone to warping while printing and during cooling. A filtered/ventilated enclosure is needed...
Xometry can execute an NDA with your company if you require, and we have a standard NDA available for doing this quickly but can also look at one provided by your company. Xometry has its manufacturing partners, the ones look at quotes and thus your designs, sign NDAs. So you're basically...
RPM for the gauge cluster comes from the PTU, and the VSS has nothing to do with it. Perhaps your PTU wiring harness is damaged, not fully seated, or the wiring from it to the gauge cluster is. Maybe check connectivity from the PTU rpm output wire and the connector for the gauge cluster. I...
"The places that work through Xometry can be worked with without the middleman". Sure, but I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. If you have places that you already know AND have vetted or worked with, that are willing to talk with you about your production need, that are willing...
Love the suggestion of Xometry.com for getting designs produced. If you have a design but not the production capability you can go there to get quotes from tons of manufacturers looking for small to large jobs usually to fit in between their other production runs. Of course a CNCd part with a...
Digital Side View cameras that let you lose the mirrors entirely: https://jfracing.net/p/dmsthough it might be hard to use on a street car. On track cars they usually mount near the base of the a-pillar inside the car, either off the dash or off the roll cage, but on a street car you'd want...
DEI makes a like 1/4" thick aluminum fiberglass cloth sandwich that has very strong adhesive on one side. Material can be cut to shape. I think that could work well for this.In my case if I recall correctly I think I used DEI reflect-a-gold and this worked (when my car was a street car with...
I sell a 6.8" 1920x1080p display with a touchscreen interface. If you're stuck on using the laptop you could connect it to this display and I have a double-din snap-in case for the 2g OEM dash panel. https://www.jfracing.net/p/68inchdisplay. Would be a bit more elegant allowing you to store...
Spoolinup's coils do not match the DSM non-blackbox ECU hardcoded dwell times.I know this because we are good friends, my coils came from him, and we together worked on this little project of mine (he lives like 15 minutes from me). Also the Evos can adjust dwell times in their ECU to match...
The power rating selection for your amp heavily depends on the speakers themselves. What is the RMS limit on your speakers? Use that and look for an amp that will meet or exceed that RMS rating per channel. If you exceed it be very careful with your gain controls so that you don't set it so...
There isn't one that's plug and play. However if you're using a Kenwood receiver it should have line level outputs so it should be fairly simple to use. Instead of using the line level outputs that you are currently using via the OEM harness you should connect your RCA outputs from your...
So how much have you tested this setup? My experience with some specific Denso coils similar to these is that this wiring setup can fail in unexpected ways. If you haven't tested this then I strongly suggest everyone take caution with this approach. Here's why.My experience with similar...
A few comments about tRabenne's installation notes:
- OpenAuto Pro is a paid build for the Pi from Bluewave Studios for running an Android Auto and Apple Play interface on a Pi. I happen to sell an upgrade to PiLink that integrates very nicely my software within the OpenAuto user interface...
Yes, PiLink can output to an HDMI display. If you build your own it too could output to a display with some configuration (not always obvious with the Pi, and sometimes tricky depending on the particular display).I happen to also sell a 7" 1920x1200 touch panel that works out of the box with...
It's actually quite a bit more involved than this. You need the right JDK, the correct serial to USB driver library, some additional software (setserial comes to mind) and modified startup to set the baud rate correctly for the serial interface. The installer doesn't handle any of that for you...
So I actually did this once at a race track. Here's what I remember frying:
- MAF
- ECU
- various fuses and linksThere might have been more but this was like 9 years ago so my memory is fuzzy. I would check the MAF via whatever means you can figure out (I honestly can't recall how we...
The system needs at most 2.5A. it's fine to tap into most power wiring like the lines to the ECU as they are thick enough gauge to accommodate the current. You just need to be sure the fuse for whichever line you tape into can handle an extra 2.5, for which most fused lines should have the...
The only confirmed customer that finished their install with the OpenAuto setup that I know of is @Justin DuBois . I know that when using the equalizer that he saw clipping begins to occur as the gain goes up, but I don't recall noise issues. I.e. it's not the best sound card in the world...
