Here are some caliper brackets that I fabbed up. They are 1/4" mild steel welded with my old Miller 135 MIG. Since then I sold that to my brother and picked up a Hobart 187.
Great job man! I actually put together some rear disc kits for the Mirage/Colt guys a few years ago so I can kinda relate. I too went through a ton of rotors trying to find something that fit nicely.
I got the replacement seals for the turbo dsm throttle bodies and took my dremel with a fine sanding drum and carefully removed a little bit of the rubber from the outside of the seal. Took me a few tries to get it right as I only removed a little at a time, didn't want to take off too much...
Another option on the ball joint would be to use one from the 92-95 Hyundai Elantras. They are identical to the dsm ball joints but they bolt on instead of pressing in. I suggest picking up one from the parts store and giving it a shot. It may be easier in the end to build the arm to fit these...

Got mine today and everything was perfect. I was afraid that they were going to send me the smaller front rotors instead of the 276mm ones I needed but they sent the right ones. I ordered them for a 1g and some of the early AWD models had the small rotors and single piston calipers. They were...
It didn't work for me either. The free shipping was ending soon so I just ordered them anyway. $110 shipped for front and rear rotors is still very cheap.
The only difference is the lug pattern, both share the same calipers and the diameter of the rotors are identical. Like I said, if your GVR4 had smaller brakes someone swapped them out before you got it for some reason.
The GVR4 has the same brakes as the 1gb AWD DSM's. 276mm front rotors and twin piston calipers. If yours didn't someone swapped them out before you got it for some reason.
I FINALLY got through to these guys! He said I was like the 10th person to call and specify "slotted only" for an Eclipse LOL. Guess no one wants drilled rotors. I guess we'll see but I hope I get the right thing.
Does anyone have a contact # for these guys that actually works? I called the # on their website and I am told its the wrong # and its a residence. I call the # on their ebay ad and it always rings 4 times and goes straight to a busy signal. I've called at all different times of the day so...
I'm lost. Your GVR4 came with 276mm rotors and the twin piston calipers so how is that an upgrade? Now your car is 5 lug instead of 4 but the brakes are the same.
It sounds to me like the OP is asking if stock 1g AWD DSM rotors will work on his GVR4. They will not as DSM's are 5 lug and the GVR4's are 4 lug. Yes any kit for a DSM can be modified to fit a GVR4 or you can do a 5 lug swap but I don't think thats what he's asking.
There is one for sale in my area and I'm thinking about checking it out. Did these come with a turbo from the factory? The owner says that it's identical to a vr4 but it's not numbered and it has the gsx badges instead of the vr4 ones. Is this true? I thought the gsx's were awd NON turbo cars...
I just picked up a 90 model yesterday, saw it in the local Bargain Trader and it was cheap so I went and checked it out. Ended up getting it because of it's condition. I read that they were even more rare that the GVR4's, is that true?
2 of my studs broke while trying to take my exhaust manifold off. They are broke off so that there is nothing to grab on to with vice grips. I know that I need to drill them out but do I need to retap the threads or try some kind of stud extractor or what? What have you guys done to get them out?
I find it hilarious that the turbo is a piece of crap or "complete pile of junk" in your words but now you actually sell them on ebay after rebuilding them. I hope who ever buys yours doesn't end up with a "$300 canoe anchor". Oh and I guess you had a change of heart on the American economy and...
Someone on the internet may laugh at me and not approve of what I buy? Oh man I think I'll go commit suicide. ROFLCome on man, you are taking this way too far. If someone doesn't approve of what I buy, who freakin cares? If you don't have this turbo or plan on buying it then why do you keep...
Heres the way I see it, if I can get an equal quality turbo for $275 shipped with new lines, hardware and gaskets then so what? If the turbo craps out in 10 miles what have I really lost? Trust me, I've wasted more than $275 on so called quality products made right here in the good ole US of A...
Got mine today and I am very impressed, especially for the money. I know I can't go on looks alone but it seems to be a quality piece. I honestly don't notice much of a dfifference between this and the real Mitsu turbo. Also it has an adjustable rod on the wastegate actuator, I remember on my...
Same as above, ETDMotors. Here is another auction of theirs with the "Best Offer" option.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TD05D-BIG-16G-Turbo-Turbocharge-EVO-3-4G63-4G63T_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ009QQitemZ190135330641QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
I just won mine for $275 shipped! Submitted an offer of $235 and they countered $260 and we finally settled on $250 + the $25 for shipping. Can't wait to see how this thing does, can't beat the price for sure. I'll post more once I get it.
Did yours come with the oil/water lines and hardware as shown? It's in the pic but they don't specify if it's included with the turbo or not. Also I notice he has some for $269 + $31 S&H and some with a "Submit best offer" and only $25 S&H. Looks like I'll be making an offer :D .
Great info but the funny thing is I checked the part #'s on CAPS for a 91 GS and a 91 GSX and it showed the same part #'s for both. The oil filter housings were different and looked nothing alike of course but the small piston was the same.I'm sure you held them side by side, what were the...
I know this post is old but I was wondering if you guys had any updates? I am building a NT 4G63 block with turbo pistons and also eliminating the balance shafts. Not drilling the holes for the turbo oil squirters either so I know I'll have high oil pressure if nothing is done. I'd like to port...
What's up guys? Never really realized how much CDSM meant to me until now. Glad to see some of you here as well though. CDSM always had it's fair share of drama but if you steer clear of that there are some awesome people there always willing to help out.I'm with Spidey, if it doesn't come...
I have a 92 GSX and two of my lugs snapped off. I have the brake caliper & rotor off but I can't get the thing off that actually houses the lugs. I also took the large axle nut off. Should this thing just slide right off or is there something else holding it on? Oh yeah, I'm working on the front...
Only suspension mods are a set of AWD KYB GR-2's modded to fit along with a set of stock OEM DSM springs (also modded to fit). That along with the wheel/tire upgrade helped out alot. The RRE car was just plain overpowered I'm sure.
I have roughly 6 grand in this thing including buying the car. It could easily be done cheaper because I rebuilt the engine, got a new Evo III and supporting mods, repainted it and alot of other costly stuff that most people would skip over. This car would be just as fun with 14b/450's that come...
The donor car was a FWD. You have to cut and splice all of the wires for the guages and MPI relay. I actually did a writeup on www.4G61T.org on mine after it was completed. Just register there (if you haven't already) and look in the Archives for my post. This was in no way an easy project...
It seems to be working fine so far, it's shorter but alot thicker than the stock DSM radiator. Plus I'm not running AC so that should help alot too. It sure frees up alot of room for my intercooler pipes.
Again, thanks for all the compliments guys! I am very proud of the end result and don't regret all the time and money that I spent on it one bit. As a matter of fact I should be picking up a 93-96 4 door Mirage very soon and I plan on doing another 4G63 swap and the EVO III body kit for my...
Thanks man!I know what you mean about the 4G15 dying. Mine was running perfectly at 122k when I pulled it getting about 40 miles per gallon. I didn't want to pull it but I had to.:sneaky:
I had it laying around, that's why I used it. It exits under the car and isn't visible. Plus it sounds awesome with none of the discs on it. I may finish the exhaust out the rear of the car this winter but the supertrapp will have to do for now.
I've heard of Angier but honestly have no idea where it is. I'm about 30 minutes east of Raleigh, between Goldsboro and Rocky Mount. You are more than welcome to stop by if you're in the neighborhood.
Thanks for the compliments guys! I have got some hours in this thing for sure. It started as a base model Colt with the 1.5 SOHC engine and 5 speed tranny. It was also red when I got it so I did a complete color change on it, door jambs, under the hood and all. I also swapped out the puny front...
Here are a few pics of my recent ride. After having a bunch of 1g's and 2g's I wanted to do something a little different. I actually painted it myelf after taking paint and body classes. Pulled the engine, tranny, ecu and wiring from a 94 turbo Laser. I went ahead and rebuilt the engine and...
They are very cheap, even at the Dealer. It does not matter where the bolt tightens at, the line is recessed at the end so oil flows through it no matter what. Kinda hard to explain. Just tighten it and you'll be OK.
My 92 Talon has a build date of 05/92 and it's a 6 bolt. Looks like I got lucky. You can also look at the head bolts if they are still stock. 6 bolts have allen type heads while the 7 bolts have the 12 points.
