  1. 2G Electrical problem - 2 error codes

Great info! Ok, so pin 92 is the magical one.. where does it lead? Are all the sensor gounrds spliced into this one pin somewhere in the engine bay? Where is it grounded? Anything else I should know?p.s.: Sorry, I just looked at pin 92 on the diagram and its a "Ignition Switch - IG".. Is this...
  2. 2G Electrical problem - 2 error codes

Thanks for your reply.. from the general view and as far as I could see, the wires seem fine for both the coolant temp sensor and the airflow sensor, but further investigation may be needed. Perhaps tracing it by hand, removing the battery, etc.. see'ing if there's any frayed wires of any sort...
  3. 2G Electrical problem - 2 error codes

Let me get right to the chase. Recently I've been getting a coolant temp sensor code which I shruged off as a bad connection to be looked at later. Few days ago, this code has stopped popping up at all (I have dsmlink).Today on my way to work, the car drove fine. I parked, then came out an...
  4. 10 Seconds On Straight Pump Gas

Would it be possible to see what kind of deadtime you're running and what your dsmlink sliders are setup like?
  5. 10 Seconds On Straight Pump Gas

Can we know:1. Who picked out the parts 2. Who assembled the motor 3. Who tuned itIt obviously seems like the driver did NOT build the car since asking questions like what the fuel pressure was at, the response was "I think it was 45psi" .. when you run a 10sec car, you don't *THINK*...
  6. 10 Seconds On Straight Pump Gas

Too bad you were running the MAFT, I would be really interested to see proper airflow numbers from your dsmlink log (because you said they were off a bit). Was your base timing changed at all? Maybe retarted a bit to give more room for increasing timing up top?And any idea you could share...
  7. 51lb/min@ 7900RPM @ 20PSI.. 50trim Maxed?

I looked at the topic title and said to myself "What in the hell?!"... How is it possible you're see'ing 50lbs of airflow at 20psi when I`m see'ing only about 37-38lbs at 20psi on my GT30R ?!...I see people saying the MAFT inflates the values a bit? Can anyone tell me if my results match to...
  8. T3/T4 FP3076R 0.63 A/R - Overboosting problem

No boost controller. Boost source straight off intake manifold. I`m going to remove the spring out of the wastegate to make sure it's not the wastegate in anyway, just to remove that out of the equation (...or not). If it still boosts, then I`m sure it's the manifold/gate setup and not something...
  9. T3/T4 FP3076R 0.63 A/R - Overboosting problem

This is certainly not good news. I have a 4bolt outlet housing and yes the turbo is a Garrett GT30R from FP, but the DNP manifold should have enough flow to relieve enough pressure, at least I thought it would... I really don't want to go with a bigger wastegate because I have never seen anyone...
  10. T3/T4 FP3076R 0.63 A/R - Overboosting problem

I would welcome anybody who either HAS or HAS had a problem of this nature similiar to what I`m experiencing with simliar parts on their car.The turbo I have is a GT30R from FP *BUT* with the smaller 0.63 A/R turbine housing. The problem started when I first put the turbo on. I had some...
  11. PLEASE - A problem during engine cranking, wiseman please help.

My ICS is not working, it had a short and the car was stuck in "idle" mode all the time, I couldnt drive past 2,5000rpm because it would cut off the injectors, I had no way of tracing the short, so I cut off the wire at the ECU and it solved the problem. And yes, I've tried actually unplugging...
  12. PLEASE - A problem during engine cranking, wiseman please help.

Ok, this is going to be a long post. It's a very unique problem I have that I havent seen anybody else experience. The car is a 97 2G with a 6bolt swap, running the early green-top CAS (no plug) with a 95EPROM ecu and DSMLINK. Rest of the mods are in my profile. The motor takes about 3-4...
  13. Quick CAS question

Check if you put in your CAS properly. The sensor has two "keys" or "pins" on the part that spins, it's possible to put the CAS in 180 degrees off. To check if it's in properly, put your car to TDC (top dead centre) and make sure the little notch on one of the keys on the CAS points towards the...
  14. FP-3052 / AGP-3076R / AGP-3071R - Differences?

I think I`m sold on the AGP3076R ... I'd go with the FP3052 but I`d rather be running a full garrett setup, besides - they're basically the same turbo's.
  15. FP-3052 / AGP-3076R / AGP-3071R - Differences?

Can anyone give me any first or second hand experiences with the difference in spool time between a 3076 and a 50-trim?
  16. FP-3052 / AGP-3076R / AGP-3071R - Differences?

I think I`ll be going with the gt30r as opposed to the 35r. I will welcome the slightly lower spool time of the 30r and I doubt I`ll be hitting anywhere CLOSE to 500whp on any of these turbos.I must say "peak" horsepower is not exactly what I`m looking for, otherwise I`d be eye'ing the...
  17. FP-3052 / AGP-3076R / AGP-3071R - Differences?

That is actually a VERY good question. To which I don't have a *solid* answer to. I think I will go with the 0.63 over the 0.82.The 0.63 will clearly give me a slightly better spool, and if I ever reach the potential of the 0.63 housing, I will upgrade the turbine wheel to something bigger...
  18. FP-3052 / AGP-3076R / AGP-3071R - Differences?

Thanks for the good feedback. I was hoping to get another :thumb: for the 3076R since that's what I was leaning towards in my mind, but I needed a little nudge I suppose :DI think I will go with the AGP 3076R like recommended by definitiveno, pump gas pefromance has been proven with this...
  19. FP-3052 / AGP-3076R / AGP-3071R - Differences?

So I`m at a time when I`m looking to upgrade my turbo (AGP L2R). At first the good ol' 50trim looked appealing, alot of people having success, showing nice dyno numbers, good on pump, etc. The AGPL2R in itself is NOT the greatest turbo, it has terrible spool time, very low flow numbers, and just...
  20. Airflow vs. PSI - Big turbo @ 24psi - car is still slow

I have 272's HKS re-grinds non-degreed. I`m only using DSMLink on the street to tune, I might be off by maybe 50horses if I were to go to the dyno, but I`m only looking to solve this problem and not squeeze every last bit out of my car and so far I`m making progress.Keep in mind, my tuning...
  21. Airflow vs. PSI - Big turbo @ 24psi - car is still slow

Ok I went out and did some more driving this evening. After looking at my logs, things looked a little fishy. For example if I advance my CAS a bit, the timing would actually max out at about 12 degrees all the way to redline, made the car feel like sh!t. Another thing, was when I would retard...
  22. Airflow vs. PSI - Big turbo @ 24psi - car is still slow

Hmm, I will do a log and see what the intake air temp is. Also just to throw it in, if I advance my CAS just a touch higher than where it should be, I get intake explosions. Not ignition explosion out the intake, but the air rushes back out and always blows off a vacuum hose off of the intake...
  23. Airflow vs. PSI - Big turbo @ 24psi - car is still slow

There's no "paramaters" to set in DSMLink besides the car weight, FWD/AWD, wheel-size, and something else, and all these are used only for DSMLink's "HP Calculation". Why would someone put it a field that changes your airflow reading?! That's absolutely opposite of what DSMLink is supposed to...
  24. Airflow vs. PSI - Big turbo @ 24psi - car is still slow

The head is a stock unported 1G head, but I doubt this is the limiting factor here. The exhaust is a 3" with a high-flo cat, BUT I've got a stock ported 2G O2 housing which is the only thing that could *possibly* cause some flow restrictions. I can see the o2 housing increasing lag, but once it...
  25. Airflow vs. PSI - Big turbo @ 24psi - car is still slow

This seems a little bit encouraging to me, thanks for your log.As for the other responses, much appreciated, although I`m pretty confident in my tuning abilities, the car feels somewhat the same as it did when I had my 18G at 20psi, that's why it is a little puzzling to me. Everywhere I've...
  26. Airflow vs. PSI - Big turbo @ 24psi - car is still slow

I`m currently running the AGP L2R and I think it's time to get a new turbo. I've been recently reading some threads and finding things that I couldn't believe. My car has been slow ever since the motor was built 6-8 months ago. I've done leak tests (numerous times) which turned up a few leaks...
  27. Slow spool - limited flow - possibly cat?

Welp, took the cat off today and went for a ride... besides the scared people running away from the sound of open ehxaust, there wasn't much of a difference in spoolup.. ohh well, I guess its just too big of a turbo for me.. thanks for the help though :)
  28. Slow spool - limited flow - possibly cat?

I'd almost feel stupid, if this wasn't posted in the NEWBIE forum ofcourse LOL! .... but just though I'd hear what people thought of this incase I don't get a chance to do this in a timely manner. But thanks for your tip, it will eventually come off as soon as I have time.
  29. Slow spool - limited flow - possibly cat?

I've done searches and some are relevant to my problem. But none mention anything about the exhaust. After reading some posts on slow spool problems, i'm starting to think my catalytic may be clogged.List of "relevant" mods:6bolt 9:1 Wiseco pistons 272 regrinds FMIC AGP L2R BB Turbo...
  30. Need to source a 20G wheel

Yes, thats good info, thanks alot.
  31. Need to source a 20G wheel

My 20G recently ate something through the compressor wheel and it has a chipped blade, and also the shaft is seized, which is another different problem. Now my question is this, do I have to go in and get a 20G wheel from Mitsu and get raped on the price or is there a Garret equivelant to that...
  32. Reusing Head Gasket [Merged 2-8] headgasket reuse re-use re-using

I wasnt aware of that.. if I would have known this, I would have never reused the gasket in the first place. I now have a chance to re-do this problem, can anyone recommend what gasket to use this time, assuming thats the source of the problem, I now have a chance to get the cometic again, the...
  33. Reusing Head Gasket [Merged 2-8] headgasket reuse re-use re-using

This is the only thing I haven't tried. And will be done together along with the compression test this weekend. I have re-used the metal gasket since it had no more than maybe 600 miles on it at the time and "visually" looked good, but ofcourse I could be totally wrong. Also, the gasket was NOT...
  34. Reusing Head Gasket [Merged 2-8] headgasket reuse re-use re-using

Any idea where I can some of those? I`m from Canada.. it's pretty hard to get things like that in your local convinience store :)
  35. spark plugs are wet with oil........need help

Most definately sounds like a blown head gasket to me. If it were the rings you would be getting blowby, low compression, and your oil dip-stick would be coming out of the whole after a hard-run.I've had my HG done recently, the plugs were doused in oil. It also depends on "how much" oil...
  36. Reusing Head Gasket [Merged 2-8] headgasket reuse re-use re-using

Ok guys, the following is a copy-and-pase of the email I wrote to explain my problem so I will save everyone the time and simply paste it here. Also, I would like to thank beforehand those who actually will take the time to read this entire post. If there is someone who will lead me to a simple...
  37. Yes, another 6build buildup post :) from Canada this time

I`m in the GTA/Toronto area..And regarding the JBWeld.. you guys arent serious are you? I hope you read the last few lines of the post :)
  38. Yes, another 6build buildup post :) from Canada this time

Well, ok so my headgasket decided to call it quits like you see in the pics belowSo I though hmm... ok, no big deal, I`ll just get a metal headgasket, pop the head, throw it in, and we`ll be back in bussiness... but wait! Whats this? Ahh yes, the dreaded crank-walk, so why not get...
  39. AFC 5-knob vs. SAFC/SAFC2

yes you are... the first generation afc DOES NOT have any sort of switches or electronic throttle control.. it has 5 KNOBS - THATS IT. It does not have a screen, it does not have throttle points, no low and no high, there is no switch in the front or in back, and it DOES NOT read the throttle...
  40. AFC 5-knob vs. SAFC/SAFC2

thats right, they DO NOT have hi/lo settings, whatever goes in, thats what goes out plus/minus the settings, regardless if you're at WOT or not.
  41. Halo projectors

Do you crash your car alot or are the mismatched fenders and hood just a personal touch?
  42. looking for a speicifc colour car + mods

THATS THE CAR!! THATS THE PICS I WANTED!!!... oh my god, thank you SOOO much :)
  43. looking for a speicifc colour car + mods

yes, black housing.. It would be great even if they were the sock lights, im more interested in see'ing the CF Hood + Front LIP than anything else on that coloured car.
  44. looking for a speicifc colour car + mods

Hello, I've a picture of a car like this posted awhile ago but lost the picture, and I`m really hoping somebody either has this car or has the pic..It was a frontal shot of a Grey Magenta Pearl 2G with a CF Hood, and projector headlight, perhaps window tints (not important).. I would LOVE...
  45. For anyone who has had to replace the sunroof tracks on a 2g.

omg, so i`m not the only one with this problem?!.. .damn.. the little pin doesnt go into the track properly, and then when the sunroof closes it leaves a gap because the pin doesnt sit inside, it sits on TOP of the rail correct?!
  46. driveshaft / transfer case rattle

I would probably start looking into your tranny, it seems that's where all the trouble is coming from, but you cannot see it untill it exits outside at which point you can see/feel it on the t-case. And like the previous post said, it cant be the tcase because the car isnt moving, so it has to...
  47. How Can I Tell If I Have An LSD? [Merged 7-8]

Sorry, but there is no center-LSD-diff in ANY of ours cars. There is a center-diff yes, and a transfer-case but nowhere is there an actual LSD unit in any of those, EXCEPT for the rear-diff.What the lsd does is limit slip between the rear wheels from side-to-side, in the middle we have the...
  48. How Can I Tell If I Have An LSD? [Merged 7-8]

Hehe, well, just wanted to make sure he checks the rear-differential NOT the transfer case, as they are two different things. The transfer case is somewhere underneath the middle of the car and attaches to the transmission, whereas the rear-diff is right between the two rear-tires. Just wanted...
  49. How Can I Tell If I Have An LSD? [Merged 7-8]

That's a really in-appropriate way of checking if you 2G has an LSD. Since the t-case itself could have been changed 10 times over, and since the t-case has nothing to do with your REAR-end it does not contain any markings in regards to your car's LSD.If you do look underneath the car, you...
  50. Thinkin bout buying an MR2 Turbo..

Haha, yea the new mr2 is as ugly as they get. I never owned an MR2, although I've owned an All-Trac, same 3S-GTE motor and all. Very nice cars, you get alot of turned heads because they're SO DAMN rare, but much havier than a DSM and outdated in technology in some aspects of the car. But makes a...
