Was wondering if any out there could help me get my hands on a ecu for a 1996 eclipse gs, mine seems to have fried itself. The dealer wants just too much cash for a new one, so i was hoping to find a used part. Please help me as i need my car back. Also please if you have one to offer...
Hope someone can help with this one, I have a 1991 Talon TSI AWD, no mods on it just a k & n filter, when i mash the gas pedal i get a small amount of black smoke out of the exhaust and the idle is very rough, feels like a v-8 rumbling. changed the pcv just for the heck of it,of course it did...
I would bet either a loose hose or in desperate need of a tune up. just make sure all hoses are connected and then change your plugs, wires , fuel filter and for the f___ of it change the pcv valve.good luck
Yes you will lose low end torque but you will more than make up for it after 3200, i have a greddy 4-1 and love it, the header flows real nice and sounds great.
Well i am not too sure i would buy that car, sounds to me like something else may be wrong with it, have you driven it yet ? Make sure you check where the car is parked and look too see just how much oil it loses overnight and such, you just never know.good luck to you:dsm:
not too bad for that price, is it in the northeast ? if so make sure he did not hit a lot of pot holes and bend all the rims and such, maybe ask him if you can take it to your machanic to have it checked out before you drop all that cash.
I HAVE A 4-1 GREDDY HEADER AND FOR TOP END POWER YOU CAN NOT BEAT IT, (sorry about the caps my keyboard sucks)very good above 3000 rpm's, but you do lose in the lower band, get a pulley to offset the loss from the header.
my bill was about 500 with parts, that water pump is pricey i think i paid 130 for it. all in all though it must be done, a blown timing belt and water pump make for a much more pricey engine rebuild
1st off the header is great i really like it, lost a little low end torque but more than made up for it in the high end.that is the thing, my hood is shot form rock chips and all, but my power is always a thing for me. This is why i put it out there too see what other people thought.
just did mine at 100,000 and it was damn close to snapping, so just be careful and expect a big bill, and while you are there you might as well do the water pump saves a big labor bill later.
Either a Apexi SAFC or a Carbon fiber hood ? This is for a 1996 eclipse gs, just want peoples thoughts. On the car know is as follows, greddy header 4-1, free flow convertor, hks cat back exhaust, aem cai, denso plugs, magnacore 8.5 wires, etc...The hood would serve to release heat out of...
according to the vacq page you need a special tool to do the job, that is what it read. If you know of another link please attach it to this thread so i can read that also.
again i do agree i should do it, but just have put enough money into this car as of right now and i have another car which i am trying to make very nice and am tired of putting money into this one for right now. I will do it just not ight now and again buying that tool is the kicker, 190.00 just...
well i say screw that, i will just continue to put oil in it, just get the syn out of it and just start using reg 10w 40 and be done with it, just a beater to get me back and 4th to work nothing else and i read that faq and do not want to spend money for a tool in order to spend my afternoon...
yeah i think so, i am almost positive it is blue smoke, but again what can i do, besided the easy whcih would be getitng the motor rebuild and i am not going to do that as it is just a beater to get me back and forth to work in.maybe mystery oil, something ?
there is no leak, fixed those already, the car is parked in a garage with a painted floor and i have not seen a drop since the fix, the return oil line to the turbo was leaking, so that was done very fast.
Okay i have a 1991 tsi and changed the oil at 126,000 and checked it at 127,000 and it needed 2 quarts ? any one have any ideas to something that may help it a little bit, i am trying a can of restorer in with the oil change.I am usingmobil 1 10-40
fram syn oil filter
i can 4 cyl restorer
Well i must say this much i have both the 420a and the 4g63 and from what i have seen and dealt with the 420a seems to be a much better motor as far as reliable, know power output must go to the 4g63 as that motor is and can be made to output a hell of a lot of power, but i have had more...
Look into a swirl remover from a good wax companyhttp://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/auto_marine_aero/automotive_aftermarket/node_GSDGNQY8YDbe/root_GST1T4S9TCgv/vroot_GSLPLPKL4Xge/gvel_GSL2KT8YV8gl/theme_us_aad_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler/output_htmlhope that link works for ya, it is...
yeah those plugs and wires are very nice, i have been using the denso plugs for 30,000 miles and have been great since i put them in, just deceided to re-place them, very nice throttle response.
it will help you out a little buy pulling off the top of the sterring box, that is 2 screws i beleive, then just take out the 2 screws you metioned and she should come right out, very easy.
Well i did a log with a short ram and then a cold air and the air intake temp was 10 deg colder for the cold air so therefore the air is colder. I did the log 20 minutes apart so that ruled out air temp change. Go for the AEM CAI very good intake and you will see a difference in power and sound.
i have volt, water temp and air fulThe eclipse have no voltmeter stock therefore i put one in.The stock H / C does not work for me therefore i put a water temp in.The Air . Fule is a waste of money, did not realize this before i bought it.Call it what you will (ricer ?) but i...
it might be the valve cover gasket along with the spark plug well gaskets, those little circles where the plugs go also have a gasket. Lift the valve and change out those gaskets along with the main valve cover gasket and you should be good to go.
well man, i use the denso plug's and i LOVE them, what great throttle responce and better fuel mileage, give them a shot i have had mine in for 30,000 miles and not a change in performance yet.
nice, i am going to get one also just waiting for lowridin2g to get his done and let us all know how much better it all is.Did my 4-1 header and lost some low range torque and i need it back, think the pulley will help the cause, but just waiting to hear.
