I can look into the lines, that's a great idea.. I'm lucky enough to have ONE local aftermarket parts store where I got my lines. I think for online providers... Jegs is good??
Hey all,Over the years of selling my 3D printed, larger-provision fuel line holders, I've gotten numerous questions about the metal brackets. Most users seem to have brackets that will pass, but are not desirable to keep. I've been wanting to get into metal manufacturing. and after many...
It's no problem at all man. If someone orders holders, they're getting holders that work. Custom sizing is always tough to do over the internet with varying tolerance in fuel line sizes. If the custom sizing doesn't end up fitting, I didn't do my job! I'm here to support the community first, the...
There are no stupid questions. Just means I need to put more info on my site.
They come in packs of 7 for 1gs and 2gs. 1g sets come with 7 identical snap-in holders, while 2g sets come with 5 identical snap-in holders, and 2 identical stud-mounted holders. No hardware (the 2g kit does come with...
Thank you.
I'm always looking for a good spot to make a second cup holder. Its REALLY difficult to fit 2 cups in that location without cutting, or weird angles.
Hey all,Cyber Monday Update: Take 10% off 2g bumper risers ONLY TODAY.I'm going to host my first ever sale on my site. I'm offering 10% off all DSM fuel line holders from now (Nov. 24) until Monday (Nov. 27). Prices are already adjusted. I do not do regular sales, but this feels like a great...
Impressive work @19Eclipse90. Hand-measuring is HARD, I used to print 20-30 fitment prototypes before I got a 3D scanner. It's already really close to this stage. Ultimaker printers are virtually maintenance-free (very simple maintenance) and are incredibly reliable. Even so, I run all my...
Hey all, I've lurked this thread for a while and seen lots of your great ideas and implementations of FDM printing.
I recently became a MatterHackers affiliate, and I want to support all of the 3D printing guys in our community. If you use my affiliate link, I will provide a 5% mail-in rebate...
I've used a Hyundai valve cover on my DSM when I cracked my stock one. I believe it's thicker than the stock Mitsubishi one (maybe less prone to cracking?) And is baffled.
If you're smart about your placement of the catch can (away from hot areas), you can get away with CF-Nylon printed parts. My 3D printed catch can mount is in the stock battery location and has held up for years. For the most part, thermoplastics do not hold up inside the engine bay.
At your...
Thank you for all the interest guys. I've finished up the bumper risers and they are now live on my site shophef.com. I added an installation video at the beginning of the thread so that you can get an idea about the effectiveness of the risers. Really proud of this redesign, I think they are a...
I'll make an installation video so that there is no confusion. It's really simple, when the crash bar is removed the end of the frame rail is open. They just slide in, and get bolted from the underside of the frame rail. You can also check out my v1 forum it shows how they are mounted.
I doubt it. I don't believe much rubbing goes on, considering that the riser pushes the bumper tight against the headlight. Also, the bumper will definitely out-rub the bracket lol.
Hey all,THE RISERS ARE NOW LIVE! Please visit shophef.com to purchase. You can contact me directly but my website has better shipping rates. I also created an installation video, which shows you the effectiveness of these risers.Initial post:
My first ever product that brought me into the...
Hey all,
Been chasing down a startup squeal from my powersteering pump. Squeals hard at startup, goes away quickly. When warm, I can startup and have little/no squealing. Had this issue intermittently for a while, but really started when I got a new belt.
I think I've nailed down the issue to...
Yeah... this 5 minute benchy is on the brink of the physics limitations of an FDM printer. After that, there is a huge fluid flow problem because the plastic can not uniformly heat up while its being extruded. As you said, still kind of cool lol Shows how capable printers can be for large scale...
Use ABS. Those holders do not see enough sunlight to need UV resistance, plus it is not worth the added hardship when ABS is further developed for better printing.I mainly wanted to add that the Voron printers are becoming strong contenders. It is a more advanced setup but they have been able...
I think this is exactly what I'm going to do. The 1g poly in the rollstops is pretty cool, and I want to see if keeping that driver side mount stock would make any difference.
Hey all,I'm away from my Talon but I recently changed out the motor mounts in my Golf. It was pretty crazy how big of a difference motor mounts made. The clutch engages better, and more power gets put to the ground.I was curious if anyone has experience doing combination poly/OE mounts on a...
Thank you. I'd make Gvr4 parts if I had one, or access to one. If something on your car could benefit from a 3D printed solution, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
I was told that you can just leave the factory wires and install the 4ga overtop. Electricity travels through the path of least resistance, so most of it will end up traveling through the 4ga, but the white ones will still be hot. It's up to you.You should route the 4ga Alt->Fuse->Battery...
Cool story actually, I was recently driving across Canada (moving) in my Mk4 diesel golf and the waterpump blew up with 2 days of driving left. Problem is the waterpump is off the timing belt, so I would have to pull half the engine on the highway and do a timing and waterpump job. Even if I...
I'm not having trouble with a DSM today, rather a mk4 diesel golf.I hooked up a boost gauge that I sourced local. It's called an AutoGauge? Which I just assumed to be an Autometer ripoff. Has a bunch of 4-pin connectors because you can daisy chain other gauges. The bottom 3-wire pin goes to a...
Hey all.Having some serious brake bleeding issues on my Talon. I did a 3000gt front brake swap a little while ago, and had some issues with the inner wheel brake line starting to leak, and I got a rebuilt driverside caliper from RockAuto. I got some custom brake lines made from the wheel well...
Hey all, it's gotten crazy around here lately. Apologies if I'm taking longer than expected on anything. One of the things keeping me busy is my 4th year engineering design project. Along with 2 other uWaterloo students, we are looking into solutions to monitor the health and well-being of...
These are useful bushings, but I've opted to focus on other bushings in the shifter assembly to make the feeling more stiff. I assume these are supposed to tighten clearances between sleeves and parts of the shifter, which definitely helps! I skipped those bushings because they didn't bring as...
I've been working on developing even better shifter bushings, and I'd be interested to see what you guys think about my V2 3D printed TPU shifter bushings. The primary difference between V1 and V2, is a material change, and the addition of a bushing I designed for the spring. This helps keep...
I'll give that sealant a try! It's fine for brake systems? I was going to use teflon tape but I read somewhere that brake fluid decomposes it. Also, maybe I worded it wrong, but I didn't strip any threads! Just where the wrench goes on the fitting.
This is what I'm thinking about doing. I'll be bringing the line to a local shop today and see if they can copy it. I'm guessing my issue lies in this bottoming-out fitting, it probably didn't create the proper seal with the caliper.
I ordered the lines from some vendor that was reccomended on the forums for the swap. Maybe they just weren’t right? I couldn’t even explain the height thing. Lines didn’t come with any crush washers either, I’m pretty sure in the past it prompted me to ask someone and I was told that the flares...
Just stripped the 14mm fitting on the line. I've already been down the caliper-stripping path before. How are those Techna-fit lines? My concern is really this fitting. It's a 14mm, but a 14mmm wrench had a lot of play on the fitting. Paired with the soft material, I was surprised I didn't strip...
I haven’t put many km on my car since I did a 3000gt front brake swap. I used the volk metal craft kit which worked well, and got brand new calipers. I also bought the inner-wheel brake line from a vendor that came recommended on the forums for this swap. The line was fine for around 1000km, but...
It's been a while since I've updated this thread. Toothless has been sitting pretty while I'm finishing up big work on the 240sx. She's been successful so far at being my nice-weather-daily. I recently installed one of my own designed rear-mounted battery tray. I was trying to create something...
After a long time of tinkering with the design, I've finally reached a point where I'm happy with my rear-mounted battery tray. This is a tray that utilizes the rear strut bar, and a lower mounting point on the chassis to mount a battery tray in the rear of a 2g DSM. I will likely be offering...
The car doesn't run, what are you really paying for? A shell with a bunch of mods, and the paint isn't even nice!
You'll be forking over $1k immediately for ECMlink, not to mention whatever else the car probably needs to be road-worthy (which adds up quick). $5k is a little high for a...
It's just about 80mm across. Chamfers down a bit towards the bottom. It won't hold JUMBO sizes, but it's around the same size as the stock cup holder. There isn't a crazy amount of space in this area for a jumbo cup holder. I've been playing around with 2x cup holder designs for a long time...
I revisited my design for the cup holder switch panel insert for 2g DSMs. The original V1 thread can be found here: https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/3d-printed-center-console-switch-panel-purchasing-thread.527900/The largest revision is the mounting mechanism to the center console. Instead of...
Echo'd. I used to be interested in this possibility, until I realized it was way easier to just buy a cheap RWD chassis to start with. Biggest concern for me was the amplified power output to the rear. In AWD format, the power is distributed between the front and rear wheels. Without the front...
It's been a minute since I've done an update. A lot has changed. I've been putting a lot of effort into this thing to make it into a sick track car. A while back I mocked up the entire kit. I have a piece for practically every panel of the car, but they were all sourced completely separately...
