I had iridium plugs in my car swapped for 7ES shortly after I got my tune. I actually think the iridium has a smoother idle. Worth the extra money, maybe not? Depends on your preferences I guess.
I’m considering selling my 1998 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. I’ve enjoyed working on the car and restoring it over the last year. I really enjoy getting to drive it when I have the chance to, I have only put a couple thousand miles on in the last year. I’m thinking of upgrading to an Evo. I’ll be...
I 2nd this as an option. I run ceddymods on my 98 Talon TSI, it works fine. Tactrix cable is less than $200 and can be regularly found in classifieds for less.
Thanks for the quick reply guys!No wobble,or vibration issues that I ever noticed.I think I’ll run the installed pulley this year and check it before winter storage. At least I have a new OEM spare if it needs to be replaced later. Thanks again for the help.
Working on replacing my alternator and alternator belt today. I thought I would swap out the crank pulley at the same time. I checked on the one on the car and it actually looks ok to me.What do you guys think does this crank pulley look ok?Also I read that you should prevent the pulley...
I don’t think that is the DTC code I was mentioning. I think that code or efficiency/o2 is if you remove your o2 at the cat you can disable that code check. The DTC I was referring to is the heater circuit check for the front o2. From the factor the o2 has a separate circuit to heat the o2 at...
I ordered a Bosch rebuilt unit for the 97 galant. I have a Canadian build DSM and it came with the 90A alt. I searched and searched these are hard to find new so I went with the Bosch rebuild. On the other hand I came across Mitsubishi OEM 75A through Amazon. I didn’t think stepping down to...
Narrowed it down. Not the water pump or power steering. Those who suggested to check the Alt, thank you. I think it is a bearing in my alternator that’s gone bad. Is this a pretty straightforward swap that I can do in my drive way on jack stands? I’m not an expert mechanic but I was able to...
Thanks for the suggestions. I pulled the timing covers today no abnormal wear or rub marks. I had the belt replaced July 2018 and only put on about 3k miles since. When I had my belt done I had them do the water pump at the same time. So it should be ok however the water pump does seem to be...
After doing some searching on here I'm thinking it might be a balance shaft, bearing, or tensioner going bad. The noise can be described as either light grinding or a rapid rattle. It's definitely localized near the timing belt area, at first I thought it was coming from under the valve cover...
Tuned to 20PSI, 11.1AFR, 3” straight from turbo back to muffler. No boost creep, I have a larger tubular 02 housing and the evo iii 16g I bought from extremepsi has some alterations to keep creep in check. Lower line is with an oem style Cat, higher line is a high flow 3” Cat. Converting to...
Yes right now I’m still on the SMIC. I meant to have a VRSF FMIC installed before my appointment, but I ended up doing a pump rewire and replacing a torn injector O-ring with the time instead. I’ll be putting the FMIC on after the tune is done, which should help keep the tune steady during the...
Miata mx5 shift knob has been my favorite so far. I had 2g stock, a VMS, carbon fiber, eBay brand. The Miata has some good weight to it, great size and feel to it.Features & detailsMazda MX5 Miata MX-6 626 10oz Black 5-speed Shifter knob

That thread is interesting. There sure is a lot to account for. Makes me wonder if Mitsu actually figures all of that out ahead of time, or if they just pieced stuff together and tested at different psi intervals until they found one that made the car run the way they liked given other fixed...
Boost leak test, plugs, fuel filter are good places to start. I had hesitation when I first bought my car when applying throttle. Major boost leak at the BOV and then another where a T was installed for the boost gauge. Fixed those and hesitation went away.
People routinely delete cruise from these cars. I know that there is a throttle cable swap that needs to happen if you delete the cruise. I don’t know if people tend to leave the cruise ECU or rip it out after they do the cable swap and remove the solenoid. I would look for cruise delete...
Look at diagram 8-50 that you posted and trace the wires 3-BW and 3-LB. Because your cruise unit shares that wire the other systems on those wires were likely shorted as well.
Look where 3-BW touches 2-BW and runs to subsystems. Those subsystems seem to be related to spark. Your transistor...
Thank you for everyone’s feedback. Sounds like 20PSI is pretty standard to run on the evo 16g. It’s only a few PSI above stock evo settings.Just to close/clear this up my original question was supposed to be: What is the max safe PSI I can set my 16g to given my setup and is there a...
If you read my profile like I mentioned in my post you would see I have FIC 750s installed. I haven’t had the chance to rewire and it’s cold in MA right now so I won’t be doing it for at least a couple of months. I don’t have anywhere heated to work on the car.So what half assery are you...
Reading through the threads about evo iii 16g. I've prepared my car for a tune (my profile is up to date) with new fuel system and all the other supporting mods needed to up the boost on my 16g past stock PSI of 12. My question is how do I know what I should be selecting as a target PSI for a...
Change your transmission fluid. If you just bought your car and you don't know when the last time it was changed then this would be the first place to start. Transmission fluid seems to make a big difference in these cars. Warming them up (to get the fluid moving) definitely helps as well...
His first complaint is the starter and alternator going out and he's running headers (not wrapped) that will kill the alternator, and the starter lives above the front pipe, my guess is front pipe is upgraded as well and no proper heat shielding there either. I know he said he bought it that...
Any tips for a basic tune? I am just starting to learn ceddymods/ecuflash. I’ve watched some videos and read the ceddy thread here. I feel comfortable controlling CELs and sizing injectors but I’m lost on how I actually add power and when/where to adjust fuel.
Holy thread necromancy Batman. With the innovate wideband you don’t have to tap any ecu wires you can log to a laptop through the serial. It really comes down to where you are placing the sensor. If it’s in the front o2 than yes you have to feed it into the front o2 signal wire on the ECU...
I paid ~$5000 for my 98 Talon AWD this summer. It ran ok and shell was in good condition no rust. These cars are pushing 20+ years though so expect to invest time and money to get it in ship shape. I tracked down several boost leaks. Did all the maintenance items that are listed to do on this...
@ OP I had the same issue, passenger side floor both front and rear were soaked after heavy rain. I had to do two things. Clean out my hatch drains and reseal around my spoiler with silicone. The water was rushing into my hatch through the wing and then over flowing into the cabin because the...
You can connect in the wideband signal to the black box Ecu, BUT you would receive 0 - 5V on the ECU. If you plug it into either o2 ECU input you would confuse it because it’s looking for 0 - 1.1 for its narrowband calculations, with black box I do not know of any narrowband simulation you...
Roger that, makes sense to adjust incrementally and track the scaling in the logs instead of test an arbitrary number.I selected the innovate serial 2 protocol (same as lc-1) and selected the com port under the wideband menu. I then ticked the box next to external wideband a/f (shows as...
I read something on spooligans eat sleep dsm site about matching up AFRmap and wideband readings:FR Map is the AFR the ecu is aiming for.
You need to compare AFR Map to WideBand. If WideBand is richer, Injector Scaling should be increased.
If WideBand is leaner, Injector Scaling should be...
I've collected a couple sets of logs using EvoScan. I have an innovate LC-2 wideband. Overall it looks like my LC2 readings are 1 - 3 AFR higher than the ECU AFR map through out the RPM/Load range. At Low Load (Load Column 10) my AFR readings were very high in the log (is that normal?) but...
Replaced the hose, so far it seems to be holding fine and no more leaks. Just had me freaked out because I didn't work on that line at all so I wasn't expecting a leak from it. The car seems to be running ok and temp gauge is reading where it use to with the old T25 in so I think the coolant...
Have you tried swapping the known working injectors to the position the current bad injectors are in? If they work then your injectors are bad, if they don't then it's definitely a wire issue?
I just finished installing my 16g and was performing the leak test before taking it on the road. Ran on the jack stands fine no leaks (oil, air, water). I get it off the jacks and bring it for a short drive down the road, maybe 1/10th of a mile. I get back and now there is a small oil leak at...

I’m trying to learn and understand the behavior of when boost is applied while driving. I get that the more torque and air flow coming out of the exhaust the faster boost is spooled.I’ve noticed in first gear from a stop when you accelerate to shift to second boost builds but not as fast as...
Gave my Talon a fresh look. Headlight and corner light swap. Still trying to decide how I want to wire my halos. Thinking I’ll tap the corner lights. I already have the headlights as DRL with the proper setup due to this being a Canadian build.Getting a timing belt and water pump...
