  1. Will 2G seats bolt into a 1G?

I have tan leather seats for my 1G but they are getting kinda weathered/used looking. I see all kinds of 2G seats for sale (tan leather), but I rarely see any tan leather 1G seats. Would the 2G seats bolt up? Has anyone tried it to see if they have the same mounting locations?Just kinda...
  2. Evo8 FMIC install

Two words for you man,,, shop broom. LOL,,, just kiddin' ya.Intercooler looks great in there, good job. :thumb: BTW, what are the inlet/outlet sizes of that intercooler?Mike
  3. New T28 Pump Gas Time

    Nice ET....! :thumb:Mike
  4. For Sale Section?

It's been some time since my last visit so please forgive me, but didn't there used to be a 'For Sale' section on the board? Did too many bad apples spoil it for everyone or what?Mike
  5. Vishnu meets the drag strip

LOL,,, I don't know about anyone else, but I have ZERO respect for any vendor that goes onto forums and bashes other people/forums/communities.My .02 worth.Mike
  6. Comp cams for 4g63

That is a blatantly arrogant statement unless you've tried Comp Cams. I don't care how fast you've ran or what kind of success you've had with HKS, to knock a product like that before it's even been tested/available is just rediculous. :thumbdownMike
  7. anyone remove there power steering

The fact that you remove the PS doesn't make you an enthusiast. If you already are an enthusiast then you will understand that by removing the PS you'll have a more 'direct' feel for the road when pushing the limits of the car.The actual weight savings is probably around 15lbs total with...
  8. copper spray gaskets [Merged 6-9]

I think he was refering to using the copper spray on a normal fiber type head gasket. Only then would it require extra work to remove, as it would probably tear the gasket apart since both sides would want to stick their respective surfaces.I used the Permatex copper spray on my MLS head...
  9. bent valves

Guess I should have clarified my answer a bit more. I meant to say the outside edge of the TOP of the piston. If the valve head broke off and ended up in between the head and the piston, it could definitely crack a ring land or more obviously. Doesn't sound like that happened though. Also, if...
  10. rx7 injectors

The turbo models came with 550cc injectors and some of them will work. You need to make sure they are the low impedence versions though because Mazda switched from high to low (or vice-versa) at some point.Mike
  11. Why is being "too" ricey a bad thing?

Personally I think it's played out. It's time has come and now it's going out. Soon it will join the ranks of fuzzy dice and air shocks. :pMike
  12. v8 > 4g63?

I actually own both, a 97 Z28 as well as the Talon. I wanted to learn more about turbos and I needed a second car while I build the stroker for the Z. The Z may end up being turbocharged, hence the need to know more about turbos. Both cars are fun and have their pros and cons. My Z is...
  13. bent valves

More than likey he should be able to slap a rebuilt head back on without any worries. There is always that slight possibility that a valve hit the side of the piston and cracked a ring land though. If the marks are small I'd probably take my chances with it. Definitely do a compression check...
  14. Ford 302 Internals on a 4G64 engine

Fords 5.0 (302ci) rod length is only 5.4" as opposed to the 4G63's 5.9" rod length. The shorter rod length would make a terrible rod/stroke ratio.By going with a shorter rod, you would automatically require a custom piston which would totally negate any gains from trying go a cheaper route...
  15. Built Motor Compression Tests

I'd let it break in a couple hundred miles of normal driving and re-test the compression. It doesn't sound too low for those cams IMO. If you find later that they are not sealing properly, Total Seal makes a quick seat powder (required pulling the head) that you apply to the cylinder bores. It...
  16. Head Rebuild Questions/Advice

If you know the factory specs of the springs at different lift increments, then you can have your machine shop test them with a spring tester. The tester just puts pressure on the spring at different heights, and measures the resistance against the scale. They usually plug all the coolant...
  17. turbo made in germany

KKK manufactures most of the Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen turbos past and present. The K26 came on the early Audi 5000's and were capable of around 300-325hp. The K27 came on the 911's and are capable of much more but I'm not sure where they max out. I beleieve the KKK turbo's use a T3 flange...
  18. 94 talon vs 99 cobra

Agreed, although the T-56 was available in the Z28's and TA's long before the Corvette ever saw one.Not to be a post whore, but how do you like your Cobra? I talked to a guy at the track about a month ago who owned one. He was running mid 12's with a pulley change (on the blower) a catback...
  19. me vs h22 DelSol

Take away the slicks, VHT and good track prep and you just turned a 12.5 second FWD car into a mid/high 13 second street car. Traction is EVERYTHING in a heads up race,,,,,, something a Del Sol won't have without slicks.Mike
  20. Dynoed my car,FLAT power band?

Well, the fact that you blew a head gasket tells me something wasn't right. Judging by the flat hp curve above 5k, I'd say she was knocking like mad and pulling timing. Did you have a large fan blowing against the intercooler while making the dyno runs?Didn't you have some kind of logging...
  21. Dynoed my car,FLAT power band?

I hate it when they use a different scale for the hp and tq numbers. Makes it difficult to compare with 'known' combinations. What kind of supporting exhaust mods do you have? Did you play around with the adj. cam gears at all? What's your base timing?Mike
  22. me vs h22 DelSol

Did you even really have to ask this question? I mean, you already have a severe HP advantage right off the bat, and unless he's SEVERELY modded, I doubt he's pushing 200hp to the wheels, not to mention your traction advantage...... You'll not only beat him, you'll destroy him.The question...
  23. anybody with WS6 Pontiac vs 97 gst eclipse, spyder, Knowledge

What year is the WS6? That will have a lot to do with how fast it is. If it's an LS1 it'll run hard bone stock. If it's an LT1 (pre-98) you'll have a better chance unless he's modded. My other car is a 97 Z28 (LT1) which is modded and I run low 12's/115mph all day long with DR's.Of course I...
  24. Technical fuel injector question

Well I was half correct. The load induced on the injector drivers is roughly 4 times greater with a low Z (low ohm) injector so it would eventually kill your pcm/ecm, but the injectors themselves would probably fail first.Check out the FAQ section of this link for more information on this...
  25. High Horsepower Pistons

Are you sure about that? Wiseco is located in Mentor, Ohio while JE is located in Huntington Beach, Ca. I believe you're thinking of JE and SRP pistons which are the same company.Wiseco has reputation for originating in the Motocross and 2-stroke world from over 25 years ago.JE has a...
  26. Technical fuel injector question

Electronics are not my strong point, but they make injector driver converters for people in your situation. I think you'll pull too much load on your drivers (the ecm) and fry them. Lower ohm load = greater current pull = fried computer driver. I don't think it's as easy as just installing...
  27. Are G-tech's accurate?

The main thing with the G-tech is that they have to be perfectly flat on the mount, and also the road you run it on in order to get a good reading. Also, they are only accurate for the ET. The MPH is WAY off.FWIW my friend hooked up his at the drag strip to compare and it was only off by...
  28. POLL: Where would you want to get your engine built at

Don't count out Mike Huml at Slowboy racing. I've heard good things about his stuff too, as well as having some of the best customer service I've seen.Mike
  29. I have a very important question...TIME SENSITIVE!!! Please help!

If the pistons were made for a 7 bolt engine, then the 1G rods need to be machined on the small end for the different size pin.The crank journal should be the same if I'm not mistaken.Mike
  30. RX7 Turbo II injectors

Mine happened to have a pink top but I don't think I have the code wrote down anywhere to help you out. They def. need to be low impedence type, like around 3 Ohms.Good luck. Mike
  31. FP2544 simple bolt on? huge power

Here's a novel idea, call FP and ask them directly....!Mike
  32. Intercooler great prices to good to be true?

If you look at the pics though, they are showing bar/plate cores not tube/fin like you suggest.Mike
  33. in my continuing search for useful tire information

LOL,,, is that a SCCA event, or a drift competition? Looks like you need to learn to drive with the steering wheel instead of the throttle. ;)Nice car though.Mike
  34. Porting Tools [Merged 3-8] Tool die grinder Dremel

Good quality burs range from 15.00 to 30.00 each but they last a long time. I've ported several pairs of heads (aluminum V8 heads) with the same burs. Check around locally at specialty tool shops. If they don't carry them, ask who does. Eventually you'll find someone local that carries them and...
  35. Porting Tools [Merged 3-8] Tool die grinder Dremel

You want porting burs for doing real port work. A dremel will NOT work for porting a head or intake manifold. Use a pneumatic die grinder or heavy duty electric porting grinder for the job.Summit racing sells burs (with 1/4" dia. shank) in different lengths, shapes and sizes. If porting...

Flow rate means nothing if it doesn't cool the charged air.Mike
  38. Got my FMIC today... How fed am I?

Ouch,,,, for not a lot more cash you could've had this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2437069600&category=33742I think you got ripped.Mike

  41. Custom making/Fab. of Exhaust Manifold/ Header?

You have a mandrel pipe bender at your school......!!!! :eek:Mike
  42. FP30XX users(down pipe question)

For not a whole lot more than what some of these shops are charging for a downpipe, you could almost go buy a used MIG, buy the materials needed and fab your own. Then you'd have a MIG welder after it's built. ;)Mike
  43. Replacing headgasket

LOL,,, maybe we should retake the poll next season. :thumb: I'll be pushing over 20psi on my next turbo setup too.Currently I'm running a Mitsu MLS, copper spray, re-surfaced head, ARP studs torqued to 85ft/lbs w/moly and 17psi daily for over a month now without problems. ;) I have...
  44. finally got my stage 3 SBR head

    PICS,,, PICS,,,, PICS,,,,,, ;):thumb:Mike
  45. Replacing headgasket

Well, even though I KNOW there are people on this board using some form of MLS gasket it looks like I'm eating some humble pie tonight...... ;) I said I would so I'm fessing up. You were right, I was wrong. I'm very surprised by the results though. I would never have thought you could "reliably"...
  46. Which Exhaust manifold is best for an 16g in a 2g

That is one of the baddest turbo headers I've ever seen period..... Let alone for our cars. :eek:FWIW, my Big16G spools to 17psi by 3100 in 3rd gear, and by 2800 in 5th with an EvoIII manifold.Mike
  47. fixed problem..made it to the track....new personal best..but, no 11's.

Great effort Phil. Good luck in the spring. :thumb:Mike
  48. Big 16g boost creep

Mine was creeping at anything less than 15psi. I'd say bump it up to 15, if that doesn't hold, bump it to 16 and log it. Make sure you're not getting knock etc..What kind of a MBC are you using?Mike
  49. weight?

The weight listed on the car is the GVRW weight. That is the maximum capacity for seated passengers with an average of like 200lbs each and a full tank of gas with all fluids topped off.You do the math.... :)Mike
