Walked by the car sitting in the garage collecting dust, decided I missed driving it and finally ordered a stupid alternator so I can get it back on the road again. Fingers crossed delivery comes Tuesday as Rock Auto promised so I can have it up and running for a small road trip Wednesday...
I had to improvise a bit using known variables. Since the guide line was missing, I made my own guideline utilizing the seam that rides across the third rib. I utilized the "notch" in the fabric that marked the center and used that to get the top positioned in a "good enough" state at the 4th...
Haven't started yet, but the weekend project is to finish up the wet sanding and put the rear end of the car back together. Body work is infuriating.. but I took my time and I'm very happy with the results so far. It'll have to sit in primer for a bit, until I can afford the bloated costs of...
Don't know exactly what to call these things.. but they're the plastic nuts that hide beneath the trim along the rear of the convertible top. Mine are worn the hell out and I want to replace them for piece of mind now that I've finished up some body work on the rear of the car. Anyone know...
Could it be done? Probably.. but there are connectors on the 4G64 harness that are different from the 4G63t harness. All depends on how much you want to have to rewire vs just sourcing a new harness.
Reach out to Josh at JNZtuning and let him know what parts you're looking for. He'll be able to tell you if they're still available or discontinued, pricing is significantly better than going through a dealership, and he's a supporting vendor here on the site.
Is that roll bar a custom piece? I've never seen one like that, but have been looking everywhere since I bought my spyder for something exactly like it. Can you post up some additional photos so I can get an idea on how it's tied into the body?
Now THIS is something I'd pay to watch :D.Back on topic, I'm excited to see the braking data you pulled from this trip. My car is in no way track ready, but seeing builds like yours (and a few others on here) gives me the inspiration to keep pushing forward.
Yep, it was his first time out with it so he was taking it easy (that and it's tuned for e85... and he didn't plan ahead to check availability of e in the area so he was running 93 instead..).. though I'm pretty sure he's just making excuses for why he got passed ROFL
Apparently my supervisor at work was at Pocono with you..He's not a DSM guy, but appreciates a nice car when he sees one.. was rather impressed with your build :hellyeah:
Now that the drivetrain is situated, I decided it's time I deal with the overdue bodywork. When I originally bought the car, the previous owner had installed a primer black hi-rise spoiler (half assed installation...) and the factory mounting points for the stock 3 piece spoiler were just left...
One side note, if you're swapping harnesses make sure you add the power wire for the convertible top into the body harness coming from the fuse box. I missed that and had to run a fresh wire outside of the harness after the fact.
Old posts? Apparently you haven't seen my build thread... ROFLIt's a fun swap, wiring was the hardest part on my end and even that was fairly straightforward. I know a lot of people have already mentioned Ricky, so I won't tag him too.. but he's a great asset to the community.. Especially...
I gave myself a crash course in XML file editing and was able to unlock the tables and adjust the monitors using the table data posted above. For anyone who runs into this in the future:Open the 20550011 file in your ECUFlash folder with notepad. Scroll to the very bottom of the file and...
Reviving this post as I'm trying to get my car through emissions. I have SD/Big Maps purchased and downloaded from Ceddy.us, but I don't have access to ANY of the emissions monitors here. Here's a screenshot of what I have.was the emissions version released after I purchased CeddyMods?
The flange is apparently warped.. so, I pulled it apart a second time. This time, I pulled the belt sander out and went to town on the flange.. if it doesn't seal up this time, I'm just going to buy a new flange.
Never left, just haven't done much other than drive the car! I received a promotion at work last September that allows me to work full time from home, so this was the first opportunity I've had since owning the car to park it in the garage, put a float charger on the battery, toss a cover on...
Started pulling the car out of hibernation only to be met with a wonderful idle surge. The ISC had been acting up in the past, so I ordered a replacement off of Rock auto.It helped, but still not quite right. So, she's currently torn down for a boost leak test. Found a pretty nasty leak...
Stock gate, genuine MHI Evo III 16g. I don't have the exact numbers, it happened during a remote tuning session with @dacowgod .. we ran on gate, about 8-10psi if memory serves.. we were ready to turn the boost up, I asked "how many full turns?".. he said 10 and let's see what it does.. we did...
I'm inclined to say its either defective, or not installed properly.10 full turns on my Hallman pro MBC pushed 30+ psi on my MHI Evo 3 16g with internal gate. I'm running 23 psi with (if memory serves correctly) about 6 full turns.
It's the same wire that everyone forgets to plug back in (myself included). Its tucked out of the way and is very easily overlooked when plugging everything else back in. I only found it after staring at the electrical manual starter wiring diagram and noticing a random junction in the middle...
Unfortunately, to my knowledge, they're the only vendor for that part. My suggestion would be to skip email and start blowing up their phone daily until someone gets back to you (especially if it's already paid for). They're based out of Florida, so it's a 6 hour time difference. Most shops...
So.. if the frame is fine.. and you know you need the kit.. what exactly is the question? To my knowledge, that's the only company that supplies that kit as it's something they developed themselves. If you're looking for an alternative vendor to purchase that kit through, you may be out of...
That kit doesn't fix an already bent frame. It replaces two common fail points with sturdier pieces. You need to find a replacement frame (I'd try rixracing or Miller import parts).
It's all personal preference. However I agree with @Hickory-NC-2Ggsx to avoid sockets/wrenches from Harbor Freight. They're a great choice for anything that loose tolerances won't cause an issue (hammers, breaker bars, even their ratchets aren't too bad).If you have the money, go for the...
I disagree. I've ordered quite a few things from Rock Auto.. every so often something is wrong.. but that can happen with ANY mail order item through ANY vendor (happened to me through STM already as well... and don't even get me started on Amazon...)Rock Auto comes through for me the...
How did you get in to Evans for a tune and approximately how much did it cost? That place is like 5 minutes from me, but I was under the impression he shut down that side of the business...
Eibach pro kit matched with 17" wheels match up rather perfectly in my opinion. Just enough gap to make sure the car is still streetable, while leaving a perfect stance.
They're likely made in China 420a headers that eBay and Amazon sellers inaccurately describe as fitting a Spyder. I came across a few of these early on when I originally bought my car. The flex pipe on the OEM manifold was deteriorated and the ebay headers were cheaper than OEM. I even...
Exactly. All of my Snap-On sockets/wrenches are flank drive 12 point. I think I might have a few larger (22mm+) 6 point sockets, but for the most part it's 12. Flank drive is a fantastic design and I've never rounded a nut or bolt with one of those sockets. I have rounded plenty of bolts...
Recirculating means that you're taking the air that is discharged from the BoV and diverting it back into the charge system after the Mass Airflow Sensor. This is the stock setup for a 2G DSM and must be utilized so long as the stock MAF is in use. Failure to recirculate can cause the car to...
Truckers tend to try and avoid them as the damage caused to the truck is VERY significant. Not to mention the cost of having the truck removed from the ramp by a towing and recovery company, the delay/damage to any cargo on board, and the fines they could potentially face for disregarding...
This. x1000.A Blackbox is cheaper up front, however will come with a MUCH higher learning curve and higher cost to have someone else tune it. An ecmlink ecu may be harder to find and have a higher up front cost, but its much easier to use and cheaper in the long run when you factor in the...
Not sure what you mean by an adapter? The 96-97 ECU will plug right in.Out of curiosity.. if you're not going with a 95 eprom, and you're moving away from a blackbox.. how do you intend on tuning the car? Or are you just doing a stock swap?
If you plan to go this route, be prepared for some headaches trying to get all of the wiring right. Few things to keep in mind about the spyder gst vs n/a harnesses:- Injector resistor pack wiring and knock sensor wiring do not exist on the n/a harness, however are simple enough to add.
- the...
If you're looking for someone else to tune it for you, have you tried reaching out to @dacowgod ? He tuned my Blackbox ecu remotely and even though I had nothing but problems due to mechanical failures on my end, the end results were great and Ricky was fantastic to work with through the whole...
