After 3 months up on jack stands, I finally got my 1g back on the road.I’d like to thank all the folks that shared their knowledge to help me with all my questions and set backs. Also, thank you to all those who have posted over the years to create this archive, and those who continue to...
Will an ISC from a turbo work on an N/A?
After some searches, some folks say they are different, others say they are interchangeable, and others even say they are the same.
The parts look identical. I even saw one on eBay that had the same PN printed on it as the one I took out, but was listed...
Started with the FIAV.
The plastic plug under the freeze plug is stuck. Really stuck. Have it soaking in PB at the moment hoping that will help.
Any other tricks/tips on how to get it screwed in?
This is a non-turbo car.
BISS and timing both done.
TB sat in the garage for about 2 months dry.
Can the FIAV be cleaned if it is just dried up coolant?
Yep, all of the hoses are connected. I just finished an engine swap. Thing is, I used the intake and TB from the old motor and never had this problem before.
Is it possible there’s an air bubble up there that’s messing this up?
So I have the dreaded cold idle surge. After it warms up, idle settles down and all is well.
I have searched and read many pages on the subject and I know it could be a few different things.
Here’s the thing: when I ground out the timing plug the idle immediately goes back to normal. And when...
Yeah, I know. But I just got the motor back in and started up. That’s when I noticed it.
I’ll give it a try. Worst case, belt falls and I have to take it all off again anyway.
Hopefully I’ll get lucky.
My intake cam gear is bent and needs to be replaced. I did check to make sure it was torqued and seated well.
I just put the motor in with a new timing belt, etc and really don’t want to go through all that again.
I’ve read some threads regarding swapping cams without taking the timing belt...
Now I'm really confused :confused:My old flywheel (7-bolt) has a 106 tooth ring gear, but this is a FWD, N/T car.
The 6-bolt flywheel has 110 teeth, but there's no way it will fit in the bell housing. Is there any chance I could have and AWD tranny? Should I be looking for an AWD flywheel?
Hi everyone.
This started with a 93 Eclipse FWD, non-turbo, manual trans. I'm swapping my blown 7-bolt for a JDM 6-bolt. It has gone pretty smooth until I went to mount the trans. The flywheel that came with the 6-bolt is too big to fit in the bellhousing.
So, what flywheel do I have, and what...
I am ready to bolt up the flywheel on my 6 bolt non-turbo. There wasn't a crank to flywheel dowel pin when I pulled it off. In fact, the holes weren't even lined up for it.
I was hoping to get it on tonight. From what I have read, the the non-turbo 6-bolts didn't use a dowel.Did the non turbo...
Is there a general rule of thumb for installing gaskets? RTV everything? Copper Spray? Etc? I’ve seen some talk about specific applications (head gasket, water pump) but never just a general practice.
I was taught to use gaskets dry on clean surfaces unless the manual states otherwise.
What do...
Thanks for the quick responses.
One other thing. Is there a difference between these CAS?
The grey one is on the 6 bolt. Do I need to swap the black one over?
I am swapping my blown 7 bolt for a 6 bolt and have a couple questions (so far):I’m doing the timing belt and front main seal. The front case gasket looks solid. Should I replace it anyway if I’m not disturbing it?The oil filter housing on the 6bolt doesn’t have a place for the pressure...
Hi all,
While under my car, I had the brilliant idea of pushing my slave cylinder in. Now, when I push the clutch pedal in, it goes almost to the floor before it starts to engage. I can pump it and it helps a little, but after a few seconds it goes back to useless. I have followed all the lines...
I've replaced the blower resistor and the blower relay. No change.
Could it be the switch? Is there a way to test it before shelling out $60 for a new one?
Any help is appreciated.
It's a 1g.
The resistor is on the other (ground) side of the circuit. This is the black/blue wire that goes to the blower relay. It should have power when the ignition is turned on.
Is there another fuse, relay for fusible link in the circuit I am missing?
Thanks
While trying to fix my rear window defrost, I have lost power to my heater blower motor. I'm not too proficient at wiring diagrams and I'm stumped. Here are some things I have disturbed before the motor stopped working (I'll be as descriptive as possible):the relay to the right of the fuses in...
