The 3rd gen lifters I do know about. However, this motor is tired and I will most likely be getting a rebuilt motor from karking auto if I decide to keep this car.15w 50 mobil one eh? Do you use that in the winter as well? I have a 98 gs-t as well with about 48,000 miles on it. Should I...
I am very skeptical about adding things to the oil in these cars.Back to the original topic... What weight oil should I change to to keep the lifters quieter and prevent something like that from happening again? I currently use Mobil one synthetic 10w 30 and change it every 3,000 miles or...
Very strange is all I have to say...I started the car this morning and it was making the same noise and the check engine light turned on. I let it warm up a bit and I drove it down the road and stopped at the first light. I could still hear the noise. A few miles later I noticed that the...
Hello everyone, I drove my '92 talon tsi awd from Tallahassee to Ft. Lauderdale. Valvetrain-wise it is completely stock except for some arp head studs. Everything checked out okay before I left. I had driven about 180 miles before I noticed the problem....I pulled up to a toll booth and...
Thank you for the measurements. The car is a brand new deep black and it looks great. I think it will look even better with new white decals on the back and sides so thats what I am going for. Also it is the stock look and that is what I am hoping to achieve.
Hey everyone, I kind of need this in a hurry and I have to go to work here in a few minutes. I am trying to have some decals made for my '92 Talon and I cannot find my tape-measurer. Can someone who has a 1gb talon please go outside and measure both width and height of the "EAGLE" AND "TALON"...
I don't have an answer for the question but I have something to add. The automatic 3s non turbo tranny is the f4a33 which is the same as the turbo automatic 2gs.My guess is that the internal components are the same, but the tranny mount is in a different place. Much like the 4g63 in the evo...
You may want to try going with an aftermarket oil pressure gauge. It will give you answers that you know are accurate and it will give you readings in actual numbers, not just hash marks. My car's oil pressure readings just recently started to change, but I am not too worried about. Check all...
Yes, the ecu is a possible culprit. In that situation I would find a friend with the same ecu and try swapping out to see what it does. That is an easy way to find out without costing you anything as well eliminating another possibility.Good luck, and when you find out what was causing your...
:( I wish stuff like this didn't happen, unfortunately it does. We learn from everything in life. Sometimes the best we can do is cut our losses and move on. Don't let this crush you and always remember that things are replaceable. The best of luck,Tyler
PROBLEM SOLVED.It appears that all of the research I had done on this website about the ABS wheel studs on this site was misinformation. The wheels studs on a vehicle with ABS can simply be pounded out just like with a non-ABS vehicle. I decided to bring my '92 awd to Tire Kingdom with new...
Ok I figured it out...One of the sprockets was on backwards. I can't remember which one. But basically, if you hear a loud noise like that, be sure that everything went back on just as it came off.
I definately agree with you that the 450cc injectors are limited and are maxed out quickly. I am, however, saying that you cannot just spit out numbers like this. I have seen that horsepower to injector duty cycle calculator. I do not trust things like that and I don't think anyone else should...
You really can't give exact numbers like that. It just doesn't work that way. The only real way is to tune the set up. The best way to go when upgrading is to go ahead and buy the biggest injectors (within reason) that your fuel tuning device can handle and tune.
At what rpm is all of this happening at?When was the last time you put new spark plugs in? If you are using any other spark plug other than ngk plugs, get rid of them. NGK bpr6es is what you should be using.Good luck,
Tyler
A question like this can probably easily be answered by the parts department at Mitsubishi. Give them a call or go there and show them your research. You could probably give then your vin number and they would tell you which part number ecu is the correct one for your vehicle. Good luck-Tyler
The concepts are the same. A small 16g does not flow as much as an evo3 16g. However, a small 16g flows more than a stock turbo (t25 or 14b) so that means more fuel is still necessary as well as the ability to create a cooler intake charge (larger intercooler). Now to the degree of how much more...
Hey everyone, I did some searching but couldn't find anything that would help. I wanted to give you a detailed explanation, sorry for the long post.Last summer I had the balance shaft elimination kit done on my car. I had ordered a new crankshaft seal but I got a rear main seal instead. I...
Now I am certain this question has been answered thousands of times. I know because I searched for it 2 years ago when I debating on getting the evo3 16g.Anyway I will answer your question. The evo3 16g that I got seemed to not want to boost any less than 18psi. I had a manual boost...
yea i would check out the street race thing. show up and just kinda look around and eaves drop on conversations and see if you can find out anything or pick up on anything suspicious.you could also start up a conversation about a gs-t that "beat" you in a race and see if that sparks up some...
Check my tech article in the "Tech Articles" section of the site and see if that helps. My personal situation with idle surge was solved by blocking of the fiav and doing all necessary modifications. Let us know what happens and good luck-Tyler
Ok, my questions for the calipers seem to be answered. I'll be ordering the caliper/bracket and pad combo and then getting some rotors some other place, havent figured out what I wanted to do with them. I will probably go with drilled and slotted because I like the look as well lol.Now my...
Well, I went and kept searching in our database and I plugged in a '96 diamante just like the one shogun got his brakes off of and I got some part numbers.Off of a '96 Mitsubishi Diamante. I found several options under the listing for brake calipers.
Cardone Brand...
I have devoted about 2 hours tonight reading and searching on info on the big brake upgrade for our cars. The vehicle I am upgrading is my '92 Talon Tsi Awd. It came with the single piston calipers and smaller rotors. Anyhow, I went to vfaq and read the info page on what donor cars have the...
There is an ABS ring on the hub, yes you are correct, for vehicles that have ABS. But it prevents you from just simply pounding out the wheel studs like you normally would. This ring needs to be removed in order to pound out the studs. However, I cannot figure out how to remove it. Do you or...
Hey you guys. I have done a lot of searching on this and have found two or three threads that relate to this, but none gave me any answers. One was telling me that the guy basically gave up because of the plate behind the wheel hub on ABS vehicles. Is there anyway I can get this off safely and...
And don't forget that the balance shafts spin at roughly two times the speed of the engine. Removing these shafts also remove the chance of having a balance shaft bearing spin into the block. Just a good precaution if you have the opportunity. If you do it, make sure its done right. An incorrect...
## tach signal?
Please be clear in your responses.I figured I might as well change it since I already have the part and see if it helps. However, from what I have been reading, it appears that it would only help my car were a '90. I'll still see if it helps. I won't be able to do this for...
Most of the threads that I have found are asking about '90 cars with inactive tachs, I have a '92 talon (a '91 through '94 car).
car: '92 eagle talon tsi awd 5 speedI bought the car with an inactive factory tachometer. However, I did not want to drive it without some sort of working...
If you have a Chrysler vehicle (eagle talon or plymouth laser) you have to go through Chrysler when doing a recall. Only Eclipse owners can go through Mitusubishi for their recalls. The reason for this is that Chrysler made money on your vehicle when the original owner bought it, so for any item...
I did have this shuddering problem in my 1st gen awd. It had done it for about maybe all togethor for about 2 miles. I put the car up on a lift and looked at the rear end and nothing seemed out of place. Some people have said on other threads that carrier barrings or u-joints might be the cause...
If you dont have the money for the job, can't do it yourself, or cant get the money soon, it is not worth taking a loan for. It is a car, and thats all. I understand how much blood sweat and tears go into these things, but sometimes you have to look at it at its most simple state. It is a car...
If the car is loosing coolant because it is being "pushed" into the overflow bottle it is because the coolant is getting too hot and expanding. Once this happens, it goes wherever it can, which is straight to the overflow bottle. Once the bottle is flow, it dumps out onto the street. Is this...
I have that injen intake system you are looking at. In my oppinion it was way too expensive for the performance it dishes out. An intake pipe is an intake pipe. It is very nice looking though, so if thats what matters to you, by all means go for it. I personally would go with a pipe from dejon...
I would say 3,000 miles is way past the break in period of a new motor. The Haynes manual I have says something in the neighborhood of about 1200 miles for a new motor. Deathmug is right about the oil changes though. That is a good idea and smart to change the oil that often with a new motor. A...
I think you should provide us with a bit more information. How many miles are on the car? When was the last time maintenance was done such as new spark plugs, wires, etc?Look at your spark plugs that are in the car now and see if the electrodes are showing a lean condition? Do you know...
The straight edge is enough for a stock headgasket, not a metal one. It may have worked fine for you because maybe your block wasn't warped at all. If your block was slightly warped (not enough for your straight edge to detect) you most likely would have sealant issues when using a metal...
