I sold my car last year so I don't have it to check but I ran either a 3 or 5mm spacer front and back. I don't remember if I was close to the calipers but I don't believe so. If I remember correctly I had 235/45r17 tires and calculated that switching to a 245/40r17 would fit but I never got...
Just want to add to the conversation as a person in the insurance industry be careful using stated value vs agreed value. Sometimes stated value means that is the most the insurance company will pay but If something does happen they will actually pay actual cash value which as we all know is...
I agree with your post to a certain extent. I think one variable is how much work someone is willing to put into a car beyond basic repairs and maintenance. When I got mine I had looked at several more "used" DSM's and been scared off by the idea of major repairs because I didn't have as much...
It was a bit lighter now that you mention. Just goes to show one should think long and hard about what changes one is making before just throwing in parts.
This isn't really related but maybe it will help someone if they stumble onto this down the road.
I would still like to get the transmission rebuilt just before parts completely dry for the peace of mind that is done butttt...
Switching back to the stock shift knob really improved shift feeling...
Following this thread because my 1st and 2nd shifts are pretty notchy and I'd like to improve that. The slave seems like there is way too much play and I don't think it's right that it doesn't come back out once pushed in. Here's a crappy video of how mine behaves:I also took photos of where...
Thanks for the reply Tim, hope I didn't come across as complaining as I completely understand how busy you are. The only thing that would keep me from going through you is your backlog which again I understand. I'm not pulling the trigger in the immediate future so we will see. I do want to get...
Good to know TRE is still doing DSM's. I'd certainly like to hear how it is when you get it back.Yeah I have used TMZ before for other things and parts but I sent him an email about a week ago and haven't heard back so I imagine he's pretty busy right now. I'm sure they all do a fine job.
I don't know if you have the idle squared away but I had an obnoxious idle I couldn't tame till she members pointed me towards the throttle stop screw and that fixed it.
Good to know. Pretty sure that is a part that's been discontinued so great haha. And the green is a maybe and if I did go that way it wouldn't be pushing it to hard. I'm not chasing crazy numbers just a fun weekend car. That sucks you had to go through that. I can pull it and put it back in...
Thanks for the reply. So if I am understanding you right they found other things they had to do adding up to $2k extra?
I am aware of Tim too I just don't far out he is booked it was quite a while for a bit there. Probably the same for jacks.
Hello, with transmission parts becoming less and less available I am looking at getting my 99 awd transmission rebuilt. I got a quote from jacks transmission for just a standard stock rebuild (which I think is about all you can get anywhere at this point, short of a dogbox) and they also offered...
Welcome to the DSM world!
Looks like you have a manual transmission from your build page. This article covers fluids.
https://www.jackstransmissions.com/blogs/pages/oil-recommendations
The recommended fluids for the transmission fluids are OEM or from redline.
Also definitely timing belt...
Yeah the 04-06 ralliart with the naturally aspirated 4g69 would be way less than 8k. Doesn't come with the 4b11 and awd but still a decent little commuter car.
If your neighbors with the spyder owner you can take your time looking it over before deciding to purchase. If everything looks good...
I have an 06 Lancer Ralliart with the 4g69. It makes for a good daily counter part to my GSX and like pauleyman said I like it for what it is. It's my first car and I feel pretty good about having it parked next to my dsm. It's not fast but it feels light and peppy which is nice in traffic.
Thanks for the tip!I hopped in eBay and found the fittings you're talking about. The only thing that concerns me is they seem longer than the STM one and I know clearance for the 2g AWD hanger is a factor.
Thanks for the reply. I think I'm gonna go with the link I posted as it doesn't appear to require any welding and get a tank to rail an line kit. Not something I planned on doing but when does it ever go according to plan haha.
I found this is as well:

It looks like I could just remove the stock hard line and put this in it's place. Can anyone confirm?
Hello tuners, in the process of trying to pull my stock fuel pump to install my walbro 255 I have kinked the fuel sending unit hard line quite a bit...
So I have two questions. The first: is the line kinked enough to the point that it will effect fuel flow? After all what is the point of a...
The original poster has a YouTube channel called thebudgettuner and no longer has the silver eclipse. You may find some older videos of it though. I believe he ran feal coilovers which is what I have. I have 17x9 +45 rpf1's with a 5mm spacer so +40. I don't remember the exact inch # I dropped...
Another little update. I got my fuelab fpr installed. My clutch slave broke while bleeding so installed a new one. For some reason the speed bleeder I had in the old one did not open so I am waiting for a new speed bleeder to arrive today to drive the car and get the fuel pressure dialed in...
I honestly don't know how much I dropped it I forgot to measure before I installed my coilovers. If I had to guess maybe 2" but that's a total guess.
Here's some photos of the fenders hope they help.
If I were to do it again I would go with +35 and definitely save the hassle of spacers. I...
I run 17x9 +45 rpf1's. Before I had my camber adjusted correctly with the car lowered substantially they rubbed on the rear knuckle. Once camber and ride height were adjusted it was better but still felt close. I think I would have been ok with a 3mm spacer but I am using 5mm so essentially +40...
Looks really nice. You cleaned it up real good. I always wanted an eg hatch but can't justify it on top of my GSX and daily. What are your plans performance wise? Keep it stock? Minor mods?
I feel inspired to add my little piece here.
I would consider myself probably part of a new wave of DSMer as I bought my dsm in 2017 and am a younger person.
This sitw has been invaluable to me in learning to work on the car and what inspired me to get one over any other "tuner" car. In my...
I went with the basic Feal coilovers for my GSX. They seem to be the best option for as far as one piece coilover already put together with the spherical mounts and not having to put one together and sourcing different parts. I am not a skilled driver and my experience with them has just been...
I'm not as experienced as most on here, but I did an compression test on my engine without it fulled heated up and got about the same results as you with one cylinder a lower. A while after I did a leak down test with the engine hot and lost virtually no pressure in all cylinders. Just sharing...
This might be a stupid question but is it necessary to put thread sealer on the bottom half of the the clutch line fitting into the master? I've been trying to make sure my clutch is bleed properly as my south bend ss pressure plate is softer than my daily driver lancer which doesn't seem right...
Thanks for posting this. I'll have to watch the video a couple times to make sure I fully got it but it sounds like the calibrating voltage can vary across the spectrum so just changing the min or max voltage it still won't log accurately across the whole range? So I need to calibrate only 14.7...
I messed with the maf comp a but and did get it to idle richer but it still cycles so much it's hard to get a stable reading. I think I'll move the wideband back to the downpipe and put the stock narrowband back in while I figure this out. I checked my wiring to the ecu and made sure it was...
I need to do some more reading on adjusting the mad as I have never done any tuning before as the car is pretty stock. I just don't understand why I set it up according to dsmlinks tutorials and it reads off.
Went to try this today and I realized I haven't played with link enough to figure out how to lock it in open loop. I did mess with the voltage in the lm programmer for the gauge and got them to match but the gauge was reading leaner than before.
I think the reason it doesn't match when I change...
Oh ok will try that this afternoon. When you say I can set the afr at different points do you mean adjust linearwideband voltage? Or change the actually afr by adjusting fuel?
Recalibrated it and set it back to LC-1 in dsmlink. Took a video and check the values. It was dead on a couple times then off again by a whole 1 afr.
How quickly does your wideband change its value? Mine moves around so quickly it's almost impossible to see what it's read for more than a...
Thanks, at least it confirms my wiring is good.
It took a couple videos showing the gauge and link and I paused went through it frame by frame and it's weird because they are dead on at some points. It super off at others.
I took two screen shots of the frames back to back and you can see in the...
Alright I've got my idle to a better spot. Next thing I've been working on is getting what my MTX-L gauge and what's logged in dsm like to match.
I have my wideband in the O2 housing with narrowband sim setup and connected to the rear O2.
It's hard to get an exact read on how off they are...
With some help I found that my throttle plate was cracked open at idle which was what was preventing me from idling at 750 rpm. I fixed that and am now happily sitting right at 750. I also made sure to get my BISS to adjusted correctly. It was earlier than I had planned on buying a new turbo...
Alright looks like moving the stop screw did it! I'm super grateful for everyone's help. This has been a thorn in my side for a while now.
After I first set the biss it read lean 18-19 afr at idle. However after taking it for a cruise it moved to 14.7-15.
Looks like I'm ready to move on to the...
